Im sorry can't remember his name if it was (Edward or Edwin) from maintenance was very friendly and went above/beyond to help with anything. Initially called because my TV in my room I checked in was not working, as he was fixing the problem he also was talking to my friends and I to what was planned in Long Beach, he suggested multiple locations to visit and activities to do. Over all I had a great stay great location near the beach.

From the GM to the desk, excuses. We chose this hotel because they "offer" shuttle service from the airport. I called the day before we arrived to confirm we could get a shuttle. "As long as you arrive before 7pm". We arrived at 6 and had our bags at 615. I called to order the shuttle. "Drivers are on break, it will be at least 30 min". We walked the 1.5 miles to the hotel dragging our bags. Upon check in, I asked to schedule a shuttle for a 7:30 am flight. "Our drivers don't get here until 9am". Why do you advertise shuttle service from 5:30am-10pm? "Due to Covid, we are understaffed" is the excuse. Covid doesn't have anything to do with staffing. Operational Planning and staffing are the reason they can't provide the services they promise on their site. Do not count on this Courtyard if you need a shuttle from the AP. We walked both ways. Not a bad walk if you are planning for it.

Stayed at this location for two nights and had a small issue on my second night, but general manager Silvano Merlo went out of his way to make sure I was a satisfied customer. Exceeded my expectations in every way. Room was clean and hotel has taken every COVID precaution. Desk clerks Azu and Melina were also very helpful. I will be flying into Long Beach on a regular basis and plan on staying here on every trip. I can highly recommend this hotel and staff.

I initially booked a hotel for a staypass promo wherein i can have an early checkin and late checkout with my overnight stay. Diana the supervisor of Mariott courtyard downtown long beach told me that they are not sure if my package (staypass) is good for an overnight stay and I might have to leave around 6pm the same day because they are fully booked. She said she cant give me an answer right away and have to research for an hour. Of course its 3 pm and if shes right, I have to find another hotel. I went back to my room and started researching the package that I got. It turned out I was correct and my package was an overnight stay. I tried explaining to her the moment I saw the answer in the Marriott webpage but she rudely turned me away. Mind you, im a guest too at the hotel and I waited in line to talk to her. I hate that I have to go thru this just because she doesnt know her hotel rates which is so embarrasing considering she's the supervisor. Ive never experienced anybody who is rude and unprofessional. Her inefficiency and cluelessness of not knowing the hotel rates are causing unnecessary stress to her guests. Please, please train your staff Marriott! Please include good manners too starting with your supervisor Diana.

The day I was supposed to leave for my trip, I woke up congested, coughing and sneezing. In light of recent advisories not to travel or be around people when sick due to COVID-19 concerns, I wisely (in my opinion) cancelled my trip. I called the hotel and was told by a very polite young man that the late cancellation fee would be waived and that I would receive a call back to confirm. He also noted that I was a valued Bonvoy member (great customer relations by a staff member!). The snooty front desk supervisor who called me later that day told me that the $181 fee would not be waived. I then spoke to the Assistant General Manager who stated that the fee would not be waived, regardless of health concerns and despite the information provided in my first call. The rigid adherence by hotel management to this policy seems tone deaf given the current situation with COVID-19. I do not recommend staying at this hotel, they provide poor customer service and do not value their relationships with customers.

Dear Valued Guest I sincerely apologize for what happened in regards to your cancellation request. After eruption of COVID 19 situation, Marriott management came with more flexible policies with cancellations and we did honor the cancellation requests based on the events those were cancelled in the city of long beach. We also brought down our 72 hrs cancellation policy to 24 hours. Our corporate management were also kind to make it easy for our valued Bonvoy members and all valued guests in regards to they points expiration . However, the policy remained same for either same day cancellations or any cancellation made after the arrival time. We would be more than happy to assist you if your cancellation request was made 24 hours prior to your arrival time. We thank you once again for making your reservation at Courtyard Long Beach Downtown. Sincerely
