Located in a community also known as "Surf City, USA", the resort offers easy access via a pedestrian walkway to eight miles of wide beaches where waves crash and surfers reign. The magnificent Andalusian architecture, reminiscent of Spain's southern coast, and lush landscaping combine to create a sense of casual elegance and your own private seaside retreat. All rooms have private terraces, and most feature stunning views of the Pacific. Five different dining restaurants,a grocery store, a full service spa and salon and two pools and several hot tubs on the property.

The Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa garners praise for its prime location, offering easy beach access and proximity to local attractions. Guests frequently commend the resort's cleanliness and family-friendly amenities, including multiple pools. The attentive and professional service also earns recognition, though some guests note occasional inconsistencies. Despite spacious rooms and oceanfront views, some visitors express concerns over outdated decor, noise, and cleanliness. Moreover, the hotel's overall value is often questioned due to high room rates, parking, and service costs.

I must say, this hotel was excellent. From reaching out to them before our arrival, to the check in experience was excellent, especially as we had booked it through a third part and I only have basic Hyatt status, it was a more personal welcome than I get at other brands where I have top status loyalty.

For once, it was a resort that was well maintained. I am always nervous about 'resort' hotels in the US as in my experience, most are terribly dated, badly maintained and poorly managed, this certainly is not the case at the Hyatt.

The room was modern, clean and well maintained. The room was serviced in good time, unlike too many hotels, we never came back to an un-made up room.

So why only the 4*, mainly due to my gripe with having to pay a 'resort fee' on an already pricey room for amenities that should be offered as standard at any hotel of this status.
The refrigerator in the room was overly noisy which slightly disturbed sleep.

Overall, if you are happy to pay a resort fee, it is an excellent hotel.

Hands down one of the best locations for a weekend away. Everything you need is on location, restaurants, grocery store, beach rentals and complimentary umbrellas, chairs and towels at the end of up bridge to the beach (super convenient). The amenities and staff were excellent and accommodating. During COVID my greatest anxiety was being in such a public place. It was evident that the Hyatt went above and beyond to ensure safety precautions for their guests. Required masks for all guests, strategically placed hand sanitizer stations, masks handed to you at the entrance, no housekeeping for occupied rooms, prompt door service for restock of complementary items. I felt very comfortable during my stay there with the exception of the kids pool area. It was very crowded and guests were not practicing distancing. My advice, head to the beach in the morning and to the pools in the later part of the day. It is less crowded and much easier to keep your distance and enjoy yourself. I would definitely recommend and I will definitely be returning to the Hyatt.

We booked a king ocean view room for two nights. A birthday getaway for just my husband and I. We drove into town. Our arrival went smoothly. We knew that using the valet was going to cost us $42/night, but we liked the idea that we could come and go so this option worked best for us. We were prepared for the cost.
We felt that the hotel had plenty of hand sanitizer stations and even had a worker handing out masks at each entrance for any guests that didn’t have one.
We loved our room and didn’t miss house keeping since we were only there two nights. The ocean breeze allowed us to open the doors when we first got there and we brought wipes and Lysol just in case, but really didn’t need it. The room was clean but we double sprayed and wiped just to be cautious.
We didn’t use the pool but it did look a bit crowded to us. We wouldn’t have used it regardless. We spent our time at the beach and loved it. Even though the use of masks on the beach is really not being practiced, most are just spreading out since there are not large crowds.
We did order take out from the hotels pizzeria. It was very good. We didn’t try any other restaurants.
Our only negative was the people above us that decided to party out on their balcony until 2-3am. They were very loud and made sleep difficult. However, we don’t blame this on the Hyatt, some folks are just inconsiderate of others.
Overall, we would love to come back.

We had a lovely visit to the Hyatt in Huntington. Since our stay was during the week and during Covid we had a very quiet get away. The staff went above and beyond to anticipate our needs and make us feel welcome. The in-room dining was great despite being served in single use containers. Food came fast and hot and the containers were nice so it didn't feel like we were eating on paper plates. I recommend the fig salad, it was delicious. I had a therapeutic massage at the spa. They do ask you to wear a mask and the rest of the facility was out of service (hot tub, sauna, etc) but the massage was lovely and I would like to return when you can utilize the whole facility. We also traveled with our dog which was great since the hotel is just a couple miles from the dog beach. Overall wonderful stay and would love to return soon!

Not having housekeeping was a HUGE disappointment, especially considering there was no discounted room rates or notice when you are booking that this would be included. I’ve been to other hotels that still clean your room. Gloves and masks would prevent the spread of covid. Part of the reason we do this trip is to “get away”, housekeeping and room service is something we look forward too. Especially at Hyatt rates. In addition, our TV wouldn’t connect to the internet. We had to have engineers come, it fixed for a day, and then broke again the next day. Didn’t want to deal with another engineer coming to the room so we just let it go and couldn’t watch any news or tv either which is a downgrade from our home. The food at water table was excellent however the lack of housekeeping and having to pay full rates was extremely disappointing. Big thumbs down for that. Our room was also not ready at a 4pm check-in. We called ahead and were told a 230pm check in would be possible so my husband came straight from work (he is in construction) thinking he could change and shower only to be told it wasn’t ready.

Just returned from a stay and it was an excellent property for a vacation. It is understandable during COVID that some of the hours of the pools and restaurants were not what they normally would be. The staff was very nice and extremely pleasant from valet to the time we checked out. Prices at restaurants were reasonable and all food was of the highest quality. Kudos for all of the social distancing and cleaning efforts. There was constant cleaning of public spaces and disinfecting stations all over. I wish some of the other guests wore face masks more often but that is out of the control of the hotel. The only minor complaint was that the pool could have been heated a little better as we found it cold but other than that this stay was as good as any we have done in Mexico or Hawaii.

I stayed for three nights recently with my two daughters. Hotel is very clean and well maintained.

Upon entry there is someone handing out masks in the lobby, as well as at the elevators. They have adults and kids sized mask options. You can use keyless entry by downloading the app on the phone. No more searching through your purse looking for the room key.

Room was spacious and clean. I booked an Ocean View Room. The view was of Mankota's pool and the ocean! No housekeeping due to COVID. I did use the app to request more towels since we were only given two washcloths for a two queen room for 3 nights. Service was incredibly fast, less than 3 minutes and I had extra linen.

Breakfast was fantastic. My kids loved all the options. Service from RIcardo was excellent! Pool service was good as well. We had dinner at Pete's Sunset grill and the pizza place. The free s'mores kit was awesome for the kids!

The resort grounds are absolutely beautiful. Enjoyed the use of beach chairs, umbrella and towels. The beach is a short walk over a bridge.

Kids had fun feeding the koi fish by the spa.

We all can't wait to go back!

Pros: beautiful gardening and fountains. Rooms are clean and well-furnished. Housekeeping responded to small needed repairs. Practical amenities included in the resort fee (beach chairs and beach umbrellas, water bottles, etc.). In-room Keurig and mini fridge are convenient. All restaurants on the property (including the pool kitchens) served excellent food. All restaurants accommodated to the outdoor dining only rule that was enforced at the time due to covid and switched to patio service with good distance between tables. Safe access to the beach across the street through the bridge over PCH. Plenty of street parking around the corner (metered and non-metered), and beach parking lot across the street. Heated saltwater pools and pool areas are clean. All pool areas have showers and restrooms. Pool servers are attentive and kind. Felt safe with security guards throughout the property. All staff and servers wore masks due to covid and there were staff members posted in the lobby ready to hand out masks to guests. There were hand sanitizers at every entrance. Kid/family friendly hotel. Duck and fish feeding went on every morning at the koi pond near the spa. Vigilant lifeguards at the kids’ water slide area. Several fire pits for enjoying s’mores. Housekeeping is available every third day because of covid. All staff are always so nice.

Cons: there is no enforcement of social distancing at the pool chairs or max capacity at hot tubs even though there are signs posted. It seemed that most guests weren’t being mindful of their distance while outdoors except for in the elevator.

My family loved this place. We stayed here for two nights for rest and relaxation after a stint at Disneyland. We loved the kids pool, and it happened to be movie night and water slide party on the nights which was lots of fun for our kids. The pool was warm at night. The morning of checkout the weather was overcast and cool so we had the pool practically to ourselves.

Our room was beautiful. We had a ground floor two queen room with a patio. It had a peekaboo view of the ocean. Being on the ground floor turned out for the best because, honestly, I have elevator ptsd from staying at other hotels where people cram into them without regard for the 4 person cap.

We ordered room service the first night which was delicious. There is a service fee on top of a delivery fee so be aware of that. We had breakfast sandwiches/burritos and espresso from surf city grocers for breakfast which was also good. The hotel gave us coupons for a couple of the s’more kits which was fun to roast marshmallows at the fire pit by the pool.

In the afternoon we wandered over to the beach and borrowed a sand pail and some shovels from the beach hut. I think we could’ve borrowed chairs too but I wouldn’t want to carry them with our stuff and kids in tow.

Overall, we loved this hotel. The family is already requesting to stay here again. Two nights was much too short! Will stay longer next time.

I unfortunately can't answer this question either. I did not notice any laundry rooms on the property. Definitely check with Hotel staff to inquire.
Answer from Daniel S
Rideshare will probably be the reasonable option from LAX, LGB or SNA. The resort only has valet parking for $49 per day, with in and out privileges. Huntington Beach has many restaurants and shops within walking distance with an on-site shuttle that will run in a 1 mile radius. Plenty of Ubers and Lyfts so transportation is pretty fast if venturing out further.

September at our resort is my favorite time of year. For those traveling without children, it is a quieter and more peaceful experience. There are fewer planned activities going on and it is a great time to consider a wellness retreat and enjoy Pacific Waters Spa.
