It depends on what you are looking for and if the price is budget enough. The room itself was clean, and the management was kind and brought me extra pillows and helped me with the TV remote, they also let me check out at 11am, which seems like it should be that anyway but apparently it's 10am. My guess is that they get alot of workers staying there, but when the other motels are full such as my case they probably get people that are slightly disappointed by the lack of furnishing in the rooms, the raggedy towels, and the spongy pillows. The bed is a memory foam mattress on a wood box frame. Some people might like memory foam, I would havepreffered a normal mattress but I was more concerned about how it appeared well soiled. It has a nice tile bathroom and decent linoleum flooring and a small table, for the queen bed room. But there is no desk under the TV, no nightstands and no lamps (just the bright overhead light. It almost seems like they ran out of money to furnish the rooms. I called and asked for a lamp and was told there are no lamps in the motel. It does, however come with a mini-fridge which is a nice amenity. There isn't much else around but there is a gas station/mini-mart a quarter mile away. This place would be so much better if it had the missing furnishings, decent towels, pillows and a better bed. It's the cheapest motel in town, and it shows. Again, the management seemed quite kind.

This place is a little older, but my room was well-appointed and very clean. Had all the necessities - TV, fridge, plenty of hot water. Great place for a budget solo traveler. On north end of town, about 1/2 mile north of the fast-food section of San Felipe Road.

The Owner was accomodating enough to bring us a coffee maker from the office. There are no cups, washcloths, bathroom floor was full of hair and dirty. I went to get ice and had to wait as the field workers filled their ice chests. 2nd time I called for ice the manager brought it and told me not to call him anymore! Crackhead party happening at 6am. Loud music, laughing, singing, no answer from office. Too expensive for what you DON'T get. Manager needs a new job!

This was the cheapest hotel in Hollister which is why I choose to stay here. It was a little run down, for example the walls looked a bit dingy, I had trouble opening the door and I found two spiders in my room. The heater was weird. Either it was broken or just really hard to figure out how to turn on--I gave up after a while. But the sheets and bathroom looked clean. There was a mini fridge in the room and a microwave in the reception area. The only free toiletries were 3 little bars of soap. There was only one three-pronged outlet in the room which is a problem sometimes depending on what electronics you bring with you.

This motel did not meet my expectations. Poor lighting in room. Room needs to be updated and painted. Very noisy with people banging on doors and yelling and the traffic noise was awful. Refrigerator was not plugged in nor was a lamp and the coffee maker in a position that they could be plugged in without moving them. It was very hot and the Pool did not have any shade areas or umbrellas to get out of the sun.
The "Beautiful Gardens" were not beautiful and were not well maintained and full of weeds.
For the price of the room $102.00 per night this was one of the worst places I have stayed. I would not recommend this motel until renovations had been made.

I think some of the prior reviews of this hotel may have been a little harsh.

It's an older property, a classic American motel dating from the 1950s or perhaps even the late 40s. It is operated by a very kind and gracious couple who have owned it for the last 40 years. They are now getting on in age, although their hospitality is still first-rate.

If you like the unique charm of older motels, and don't care for all the signs, display cards, and "sameness" of the big chains, you will enjoy staying here. The property is very tidy and well-kept, and the sheets are crisp and clean. Rooms have all the expected amenities - fridge, microwave, coffee machine, desk, etc. The Wi-Fi system is very fast and totally reliable. Both smoking and non-smoking rooms are available. There is a nice selection of quality magazines (National Geographic, Fortune, etc.) available in the office to take back to your room and read at your leisure.

Be aware, though, that some of the furniture is older and the decor is older (things that matter, like mattresses, are new). Also be aware that the owners are older too, thus perhaps a bit old-fashioned in their business practices. For example, I was not sure how long I would stay (I eventually stayed 3 days), and rather than just doing a pre-authorization of my credit card and settling up on the last day, I was politely asked to pay each day as the days passed. That was no problem for me.

If you are a relaxed kind of person, if you appreciate gracious hospitality, and if your disposition is such that you tend to see the good in things before you find things to criticize, then I think you will enjoy staying here. But, if you are stressed, if you want tonight's hotel room to look exactly like last night's hotel room somewhere else, perhaps better to go stay in a larger chain hotel.

As for me, I'll happily return, and I'll also recommend this motel to my friends. It is clean, calm, and tranquil.

The rates (about $60 a night) are a bit higher than one would expect for this type of motel, but it appears that is due to a general shortage of hotel/motel rooms in the Hollister area. Most other properties in this town are around $90 a night.

First off, even with my credit card number, they would not hold the room past 8 PM! Old funky room, fairly clean except for overlayed cigarette stink, cig ashes on the coffee tray, cobwebs in the bathroom, smoke detector removed; very little sound proofing between rooms, but that was OK because we had the A/C roaring all night to deal with the cig stink. Corroded fixtures in the bathroom, broken out tile, broken lock on one window... Their maintenance guy must have died 10 or 15 years ago....

We stayed in thismotel based on the reviews in Trip Advisor, but I feel we were definitely led astray here.

The Motel is way out on the edge of town and there was only one other guest (aka Scary Man) who stood outside leaning on his car for 4 hours watching our every move as we came and went.

Many basic amenties were missing - no clock radio, no hair dryer, not even shampoo. The carpets were grimy and in need of serious updating and the room smelled musty, though was otherwise clean.

All of this could have been excused (or at least understood) if the price of $82 had been half what we were charged. Hotels in Hollister seem generally overpriced - a better option is to stay in Gilroy where there is more variety.

I stayed there strictly for its location, not realizing there were other hotels nearby. The room was clean but seriously in need of updating. No bath tub, very small TV and paper thin walls. My neighbors arrived at 1:00am and spoke all night (literally). They were not loud nor did they raise their voices but I heard every word they said. I got no sleep
Overall it was below average. Not a bad place but definitely didn't meet average expectations.

We stopped here as it was the only motel that had a vacancy that night. The lady at the desk was pleasant enough. Room was adequate but quite old. It could use a bit of a face lift. The sodas in the soda machine need to be replaced. The diet coke had a October 2011 date on it! It was flat!!! I would have told the management the next day but no one was in the office and we left our room key outside the office in the receptacle. Not a great place ... just okay
