Casa de Fruta Cabins! We were the very first guests to stay at the cabins! We were escorted to and shown around the cabin and spacious yard when we arrived. Because we were the first to book & stay, we received an awesome gift basket and s’mores kit. THANK YOU!!! Each cabin has a gated yard and fire pit, 1 bathroom with shower and sleeps up to 8. My husband treated me for my birthday during Memorial weekend and we had a great time! We have been visiting Casa de Fruta for over 2 decades. We love everything about it from the restaurant, sandwich & wine shop (best salad ever, btw), candy shop, rides, food, wine, fresh produce, wildlife, the casa’s animals (peacocks, chickens, ducks…) It’s a great place to stop on your way to another destination or great place to come and stay. We enjoyed the natural scenery, walk to the creek below, sounds of the birds and beautiful weather. For us, we didn’t need anything else. It’s a nice balance of being in nature and having the convenience of everything we could need, including a gas station with an amazing store! More about the cabins: They were built by the Amish in PA and trucked all the way to Hollister. They are perfectly built from solid wood, sturdy and smell amazing! They come equipped with a covered porch with 2 relaxing chairs, living room/dining area with built-in table & chairs, heat-air unit, ceiling fan, futon bed, tv, mini kitchen with 2 burner stove, fridge, sink, silverware, dishes, etc. There is a loft upstairs with 2 mattresses, touch-lamp and 2 windows. Great for kids or teens. I found the bottom of the stairs a perfect place for putting on shoes and the top of the stairs perfect for journaling. There is a small hallway where the bunkbeds are located right across from the bathroom. Small shelves with touch-lamp next to the beds and outlet. Beyond that is the master bedroom equipped with a firm, comfortable queen bed with wonderful soft bedding, built-in side shelves, outlet, touch-lamp, bench, dresser with mirror, place for hanging clothing, ceiling fan, heat/air unit, tv and 2 windows that open to let the fresh air in. The cabin stayed at a very comfortable temperature all day and because I tend to get cold, we used the heater at night. But most people probably wouldn’t need it this time of year lol. They really put a LOT of thought and effort into these cabins. (Please take care of them if you choose to stay here.) To me, the decor was charming & appropriate, reminding me of an adult-sized playhouse out of a storybook. Very romantic. We really fell in love, so much that we booked a stay for next year when we checked out. The staff is wonderful, friendly and welcoming and they really were very excited to offer these new cabins for guests to stay in. Cabin K has the largest yard, right across from the playground, perfect for stargazing, birdwatching and kids to run around and play. (Use caution with smaller children & toddlers as the back side is not gated, sitting near the edge of a slope.) We have no complaints whatsoever and can’t wait to return! Thank you Casa de Fruta & staff for such an amazing weekend & experience. We love this family business and family-friendly atmosphere. It’s so beautiful, peaceful & relaxing <3 :-)

We stayed in one of the cabins with a loft. We had a great experience. The cabins are small and although it says that you can sleep 8 people, that would be impossible, unless 6 of the group were all children . There is one couch that will seat 3 adults. Otherwise there is no other seating. There is a queen bed in the bedroom, a bunkbed outside the bedroom and two sleeping areas in the loft. If you are a couple of a couple with 2 - 3 children, then this would work nicely. A two burner stove, (no oven), and microwave. Pots and pans provided and dishes for 6 .

This is the second time we have eaten here. Our waiter was very attentive. What I liked about him was his polite manner. It was almost as if he didn’t mean to interrupt our meal but he wanted to make sure everything was ok? Also when I ordered the egg scramble and told him to “hold the bacon” he suggested if I’d like avocado in lieu of the bacon. I told him that was a very good suggestion and agreed. Later when the bill came I wondered if I’d been charged more for this substitution but I wasn’t. 😄 My only suggestion is that they use a bit more spices/seasoning on their potatoes. Also, it was pretty darned cold in that restaurant with the AC on and we wanted to sit outside but they would not let us unless we ordered our food in to-go containers. Yet, many staff and servers were standing around looking not too busy. We felt they could have easily served on the patio as it was not busy or crowded on a Tuesday morning.
The grounds are amazing but the food at the restaurant fall a bit short of the mark.

Well, at first glance it was a quaint but acceptable room. Small but cozy. Then after putting our luggage in the room we had to leave for an outdoor Christmas party so we knew we would be cold therefore we turned the heater on so the room would be warm when we returned. So, the first thing was that when we got back the room was freezing cold at 64 degrees F. Then we had no idea how to warm the room do we called the front desk. They said they would call someone. Then we thought we’d settle in and watch a little TV but no matter what we tried the TV refused to cooperate so we called the front desk again. They said they would send someone but no one ever came. Then last but not least there was no hot water. Again, I called the front desk and they said they would call the maintenance person. But 2 hours later no one a terrible experience ever showed up. We finally gave up and went to sleep. Overall this was

Casa de Fruita is a fun place to stop while traveling highway 152. There literally is something for everyone…… especially the kids. It’s history and collection of old historic items are fun to explore. Of course there’s a playground, train, and merry go round. My daughter’s favorite are the peacocks that run loose on the ground. There are clean accessible bathrooms for the public. It’s also a great place to find a last minute gift. Lots of fresh produce, packaged gourmet foods, candies, and unique wine options. There are lots of options for eating…… everything from sit down to a delicatessen to pre-packaged meals.

We always make it a point to stop here for lunch & snacks on or trips thru the area several times a year. They have a great restaurant as well as fruits, nuts, candies drinks in the store. They also have a few rides to take the little ones on to break up the monotony of sitting in a car all day.

Some folks camping at the RV park near the motel had set up giant lights all around their campsite, which were very bright. Campers' music was pretty loud after dark also. Too bad, because the motel itself was quiet. The office was closed, so the check-in process at the convenience store was, shall we say, inconvenient. But the room was clean and comfortable, and there's a pool.

We decided to stop here on our RV trip to Seattle from S California. Made reservation ahead of time and the place sounded interesting. Surprised that we were put in the area where we were the only RV in the whole one side of the campground with everybody else on the other side. Everything was neat and clean. We walked over to the restaurant and had their prime rib dinner to go. Good price, good food. The gift shops, fruit stand, and deli/wine store all looked pretty and interesting. Will be coming back in the future if in this area.

We did a repeat visit to Casa de Fruita on a lovely sunny Saturday. We purchased fruits and nuts from the store. We walked by the lake, the carousel, and went to the bakery. We explored the other stores. Parking is free.
They also have nice lodging.

Microwave and fridge are not standard. It would be good if they were, since the tiny convenience store in the lobby closes early (about 6:000 or 7:00 p.m.) and it's a couple hundred yards to walk to the gas station where there is a more extensive c-store.
Hello,
unfortunately we do not have a walk in shower with safety bars. We offer a "handicap accessible" room with a queen size bed, the room offers bars near the toilet and in the shower tub it also does have a chair inside the tub.

If you are into nature activities, there are a couple of state parks with campgrounds, hiking and wildlife viewing areas to the east, around San Luis Reservoir. The reservoir is manmade, part of the California and Federal water projects, and boating and fishing are big activities there. A visitor center along Hwy 152 maybe about 15 miles east of Casa de Fruta overlooks the reservoir with some great views, and exhibits about water use and conservation.
To the north is Henry Coe State Park, the largest in the state park system. Kids would have to be very much into nature, because that's what this park is about: camping, hiking, some fishing spots, and wildlife spotting.
There are more places to choose from in the Hollister area.
