This resort has something for everyone! Alone couples or families! Beautiful gardens, the bars, walking paths, pool with swim up bar and the beaches 👌🥰 divine! Very friendly attentive staff - could not fault them anytime - highly recommend the spa -the ladies were so accomodating & know how to massage! Being able to walk from bed to beach 🏝️ was amazing. The rooms with outdoor shower - get if you can - in the very humid days these are fantastic! Found our room very hard to cool down - we’re are from Qld so used to heat but this hectic. The dvd’s & books are great as no TV. The tour guide Tanna we had is a must! Hope the owners fully realise what they have in him. Food very good but do go early to the breakfast buffet or it runs out. Really should be 5 star resort. Don’t miss the Tu Sua trench.

From beginning to end we had an amazing time at Saletoga. We were collected at 3.30am by Jeanette from the airport and we entertained each other for the drive back to the resort. Once there our room was ready and we caught a few hours sleep before breakfast and checking in officially. Our room was divine! Large, spacious and well set out. We had a view of the ocean from our front veranda. Only comment would be a handrail on the steps, my husband had to wait for me to get up and down due to his inability to do them on his own. Same in the pool, a hand rail would be handy as a number of older clients who, like my husband, struggled to get in or out of the pool. Food was nice and usually well priced. A must do was the BBQ night and Fia Fia! Neither should be missed. Breakfast had a good variety of hot and cold choices, if you went hungry there was a problem. Gluten free choices available. If there was something you needed simply asking staff wasn’t a problem either. The grounds were well maintained by staff who started early in the mornings and always said hello. Tours were good and I thought reasonably well priced. The Apia tour was great, especially the Robert Louse Stevenson museum. The Garden Cafe on the Apia tour was hit or miss for me. Our tour guide Tanna was a standout for us! He deserves a pay rise! He was very attentive to my husbands needs and constantly looked out for him, thank you Tanna. He has a wealth of knowledge about Samoa and the many places he takes resort guests, and clearly enjoys his job. He is certainly an asset. Restaurant staff were great! Stand outs were Amanda and Betty who radiated friendliness and loved a joke, they got our Aussie humour! There were other great staff but I can’t remember all their names. There are some issues with staff which is possibly more around the language barrier and training, with lots of training currently happening so please be patient with them and give them some grace. I noticed there are some Fijians employed at the resort, which is good as Fijians have a true heart for hospitality and a joy for working with tourists that hopefully they will impart to the locals. Watch this space as I’m sure the staff here are going to be superb. Many of the pre trained staff are now seasonal workers in NZ and Australia so retraining has been an issue with recruiting. We didn’t swim in the beach, however, spoke yo many who snorkelled off the beach, no coral but lots of fish. There are 2 slides into the water that looked fun. There is a large playground for the kids down where the family rooms are and a very large, heavy duty, shallow inflatable pool for the kids. Well set up. The main pool has a swim up bar and is quite large. Lots of shade cover and comfy sun lounges. If you’d rather sit by the ocean that’s ok as there are lots of sun lounges by the beach front to recline and soak up the sun as well. There is wifi but only around the reception area, main eating area and pool, outside that don’t expect wifi. You can buy a SIM card but I simply made do. Lots to do with tours to choose from daily or hire a car or moped and plan your own fun, which a number of people did. We liked having someone take us around in unfamiliar territory. One suggestion is better air conditioned vehicles, though I think I heard they are on order, and a mike for the driver as they know so much and you can’t hear them in the back! We couldn’t do lots of tours sadly as they weren’t for people with mobility issues, though the two we did do we enjoyed immensely. I heard the trench and clams were great also. The owners are often around and very approachable, even if they are Kiwi’s. Joking of course. They are happy to chat. I think I’ve covered a lot of ground for anyone contemplating Saletoga. Great resort, wonderful staff and outstanding grounds. Enjoy your stay, we certainly did.

Another amazing resort stay for just a few nights, wish we had stayed longer! It rained most of the time we stayed but we still had a wonderful time. The rooms were wonderful, we were able to book a day room on arrival as it was 5am so that was super awesome to have somewhere to get some sleep and freshen up until we could check into our adults only villa. The villa was spacious, the bed was super comfy and the room had a private outside shower. The food was wonderful, cocktails delicious and the Fia Fia night was so much fun! The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, and we had some great experiences interacting with other resort guests! Would happily return for another visit!

The kids pool and playground is excellent, so handy to have a full fenced area. It was great for our 13 month old. A van with aircon would be great, the over hour long trip to and from the airport was sweltering. The food and drinks at the restaurant are expensive, expect NZ cafe/restaurant prices. The food is similar to what you’d expect at a pub. Dinner service doesn’t start until 6pm which is tricky when you have a little one that needs an early dinner, this meant we ate off the all day menu the whole time which got a bit tired. The breakfast buffet is OK, nothing wow but was fine. The cocktails were very expensive and hit and miss, some of the team did not know how to make cocktails so they were very random. My husband and I had multiple massages, they were outstanding, better than at home! Excellent resort for families, we would not come here for an adults only trip. Our luggage didn’t arrive with us and the resort was great at helping to sort this out and got our bags for us from the airport a few days after we arrived. We stayed in a lagoon view family bungalow. We had a great spot with our own private beach access and the room had plenty of space. The aircon was god sent. The extra room was very useful so that we could put the baby down for naps and early to bed without disturbing him. The tiled floors were very slippery when wet, we had lots of near misses and almost nasty head knocks so be cautious of this, especially with little ones. Overall we loved our stay and highly likely we’ll be back as a family again!

We booked our holiday outside of school holidays. We booked the resort noting that it had a children's pool and a pool with a swim up bar. We are a 50 something couple. However most kids used the main pool and loved sitting at the swim up bar too. It did not make for a peaceful setting. When we did order cocktails they were delicious. Trying to get a sunbed by the pool was not easy as most had towels on, reserved by families and then not used. Plenty of couples walked away. Pretty frustrating. For this reason only, we have not rebooked. We did mention to Gavin that he needed to build an adults only pool, watch this space! We will book again in a heartbeat if he does. We enjoyed our complimentary massages. I have a bad back and the amazing lady gave me my massage whilst I was sat upright. We styed in the Adults Only Villas, they were fabulous, very roomy and air con was great. The best thing was the outdoor shower, even used it in the rain. Never used the inside one. Bed was very comfortable, was nice and firm. Breakfast was plentiful, and the restaurant staff were very attentive. Obviously English isn't their 1st language, but their smiles were beautiful and they all tried so hard. The food in the main restaurant was excellent, the chef's were awesome. Again, lots of smiles. Loved the water filling stations, take an insulated water bottle. We went snorkelling every day. Beautiful fish and coral. I bought a full face mask from Trade Me for about $25, was brilliant. Need to wear Reef shoes. BBQ night and FIA FIA night were great. We hired a car for 235 Tala for the day. This included insurance and a Samoan driver licence. You can book all this at the reception. I bought a SIM card at reception for 11 Tala. It lasted me the 8 days and I did not run out of data. Gavin and Lou are clearly very hands on and very happy to chat with guests. Air NZ cancelled a lot of flight in and out of Samoa during our stay and Gavin and Lou said it was there hardest week, but they worked very hard at keeping everyone accommodated. Hats off to them. Absolutely a 10 out of 10 resort for families.

Wow, what a great property! Wish we had stayed longer! We stayed in the hotel rooms, which were very spacious and had what you needed. There are water refill stations all over the resort, so filling water bottles, inc the one in the room is easy and saves plastic! We ate at both of the restaurants and think the waterfront one that has a different theme each night was the better option. Bbq night was great. For a resort with a captured audience (there isn't other dinner options nearby) the pricing was fair. Between 30-55 tala per main. Loved the free kayaks, paddle boards and snorkel stuff from the beach hut. There was a surprising amount of fish in the coral barely steps from the shore. The pool area could do with more loungers,.as groups and families put their towels on them and then don't seem to use them........ We had a great stay, the tropical gardens and layout of the resort was lovely. Also the great selection of DVDs to borrow for a quiet night in. You definitely need a hire car to get out and see any sites. The airport transfers are on the pricey side at 80tala per person

We enjoyed our stay. It is a beautiful resort and the gardens are stunning. Couldn't fault the rooms but the breakfast was a let down. The staff seem to be trying and are helpful on the whole but there is a real lack of experience and effort or understanding of hospitality. The following might explain why. Whilst waiting to pay our bill on leaving one of the owners (wife) came out of the office clearly angry. She found a staff member who was seated and started leaning over her having a go at her about not doing her job properly. The staffer protested that she hadn't done it wrong only to be put down in no uncertain terms. The staff member stormed off saying "you talk to me like I'm stupid". The owner went back to the office and minutes later was poking her head out barking orders at staff behind the reception counter. It felt like a culture of fear pervades the staff when you see it first hand. Advice for the owner lady: if you don't like being hospitable perhaps don't work in the hospitality industry or find a way to stay out the back. This experience completely ruined our experience and tainted the whole stay even though it happened at the end of it.

thanks for the review , firstly you must understand our staff inexperience , after being hit hard by covid and might I say no wage and industy support that was received as other countries we had to lay off 90 of our staff but we retained 40 throughout covid at our expense and sacrifice . Now we have had to train over 90 new staff mostly starting betweeen april this year until now , this industry has lost most of the workers to nz and and australia for fruit picking , our government has finally realised and is now putting conditions in place so our country is not depleted of our skilled workers for export .Our new staff come straight from village life , they have had no work experience and no skills , our plan going forward is to have all staff to international standard this year , I currently have more staff training at Saletoga than The National Unerversity of Samoa has in their tourism courses . Mostly our guests noted by other reviews received have been happy and have excepted that most of our staff are in training and although lacking in experience they have energy , enthusiasm and eager to please . I am disappointed that my wife was disciplining in front of you , this should have been behind doors , the matter was serious that involved substantial loss to the resort , the girl is still working here and probably shouldn't be but has been given another chance , she is one of our longer serving staff which made it worse .

Glorious place to stay with snorkelling at your doorstep, comfortable lodgings, gorgeous landscape especially if you like coconut palms. Friendly Samoan staff to help you with everything with a special call out to Amanda at reception, Fie the driving tour guide, and the young guy who showed me how to kayak, which I did for the first time and took to it like a duck to water with his help. Don't miss the Fia Fia night and BBQ dinner, which were value for money. A wonderful holiday

Excellent Resort August 2023 First time to Samoa and got a package deal to Saletoga. We stayed in the adult only section. Rooms are outstanding. Spacious, clean, loved the additional outside shower so much we never used the inside one after first day. Aircon was great but we preferred the overhead fan at night so dragged the bed under it. Great sleep. Room serviced every day by lovely staff. Always did a great job. One day we missed out on flannels and hand towels but no biggie. Grounds are well kept and beautiful. Ground staff out early clearing leaves and maintaining foliage. Lovely site. Both restaurants had good food and service. The Fiafia night food was amazing (other bad review below must have been having a bad day). Other guests recommended we went because of the banquet and we were glad we did. Excellent. Breakfasts had good supply and variety of cereals or cooked stuff. If you want a change there’s also a la carte (pay) available. Staff at restaurant were really attentive and obviously new in training, and we had no issues. They are so keen, they will sometimes ask to clear plates before you’re done …. :) Staff are so friendly and almost like a large family. Jeanette on car hire is very helpful and informative. A real asset. We had planned on using a scooter, as we have in Raro, but no locals do and when you see the road condition, plus some drivers, I’d suggest you stick to car hire. Available from the Resort. Had 2 day hire. One day did big drive around over to Piula pool, Palolo deep, Apia and markets, RLS museum. Next day, To Sua, and Giant Clams, and looked in at a couple other south coast Resorts. (Saletoga was the best) Snorkeling off the beach is variable, - on low tide there’s less fish but sometimes on higher tide small swells come in from reef or wind conditions affect fish as well. There’s usually something to see and sea temp is around 28 deg !! Only hiccup we had during stay was booking things. On arrival we booked a trip to Namua and the Fiafia night (both several days away). On booking car later we happened to mention the Namua trip and found it hadn’t been booked. So we also checked the Fiafia booking. Nah, that neither. A few days later we booked the complimentary massages. On checking that a couple days later, it was down to wrong room. Just do a follow up check, and you’ll be fine. We really recommend Saletoga, and obviously the staff value the Owners and the way they treat their people. One more thing. The Fire Dance was spectacular !! For two local staff members to have that level of skill is amazing. Thanks Saletoga

What a beautiful resort with beautiful staff. From the garden, pool, restaurant, tours, reception & housekeeping every one was friendly & a credit to the resort. We wouldn't usually name individuals, but in this instance we'd like to make a special mention to some staff who made our visit extremely memorable - the musician man & his lovely singing ladies (every night they were there we went just to listen), to Fie, Sina, Ula, Joe, Imelda & Ilapatosina (our private dinner hostess) - you all made us feel like family. We did experience delays with food & drinks during our stay, in particular on one particularly busy night. Not an issue with the wait staff... they were great. They spent a lot of time apologising for wait times & checking if people had received meals but an hour wait for food is pushing it a bit far. This was no reflection on kitchen staff but they just couldn't get food out quick enough. They were so under the pump in what seemed to be a small kitchen. Could also do with a few more tour/sightseeing options, especially to Savaii. But you can ask around if you want to do something not on the tour board. You can pick up a private tour but these should be available through the resort (even if it's outsourced to a lovely guy called Henry) to make it easier for guests to arrange. FIA FIA night. Buffett was reasonably priced with good food. If you don't want to eat, you can still enjoy the show (which lasts about 40 minutes which is long enough). Dance troop bring such positive energy. Bring on direct flights from Melbourne. Would make it so much easier to return! Will be back!

thanks for the great review , sorry about the delays whith your meal , we offer two restauraunts to dine from but some nights out of our control everyone chooses to go to the one restaurant and only a handful at the other ,Our main restaurant can average a meal every 45 seconds about 80+ meals / hour but when everyone turns up which seems like within half hour of each other 6:30-7:00pm then throw in a couple large tables and theres a wait time , the kitchens big enough but just the time period too tight to deliver so many meals , we can do 200 meals in two and half hours service including desserts and entrees which is ok but not in one hour , we also are training many new staff and try to get them to interact with the guests and keep them up to date with the wait time . Our tours , we don't do the Savaii we leave that upto others like our friend Henry but we have a few new tours starting soon our lagoon cruise and our snorkling tour on our glass bottom boat , as you mentioned we have some shinning starts in our team and with nearly 90 new staff just starting throughout this year and mostly in the later and there are some new shinning stars emerging . thanks again gav
