Overall our room was great - 1 bedroom suite oceanfront king. Room in the 400’s. Spotlessly clean - i wipe everything down with wipes and no dirt was on them. Maid service not available and that was fine- every time i called for supplies such as Towels, sheets ( i changed them 1 x during the week), 15 minutes later delivered with a smile (in a bag outside our room) covid…. I think that’s what people are negative about - main restaurant still closed but they had food available breakfast and lunch. Bar food til 10pm. We didn’t try it - we kept to ourselves and used the kitchen a lot. Kitchen was stocked with 4 of everything (just 2 of us and our dog). Dishwasher was loud and stove was slow so yeah some of the appliances could be replaced but with today’s shortages bet they can’t . Room was renovated likely within last couple of years. It’s California rustic - not a spiffy fancy Hyatt with everything new. Beautiful grounds. Folks were always cleaning and maintaining outside. Wood piles plentiful since we had great wood burning fireplace. Bed king was awesome! Quality towels and sheets . Our deck over looking ocean was awesome - 2 nice chairs and a table. Really quiet all the time - even on New Years Eve - Doordash delivered 2x to us while there. We cooked dinner a few nights. I had a massage booked at spa Adeline which i didn’t do but not because of the masseuse - more about me nervous about covid being indoors for it. No room service because of COVID.

We were misinformed about the outdoor terrace and dining options available at the hotel despite calling hours in advance of our arrival. It was a perfectly beautiful day but the outdoor terrace wasn’t open and just a small portion of the lobby was available for hotel guests during sunset. Check in is at 4pm but our room wasn’t available until later. We were told that we would be notified but no one called us back. After following up, we rushed to the room to enjoy the ocean view minutes before sunset. We were only staying one night and was disappointed that we could barely enjoy the view. Our unit was on the middle level and there was another room above us. The guests there had kids and at 5:45am we were woken up to the kids stomping and running back and forth. Finally, we found ants all around the sink. I even found one on my arm in the car after we left. We were surprised this is a category 7 hotel for Hyatt despite the dated rooms with popcorn walls and ceilings in the bathroom. We paid a premium to stay over the holiday weekend and was extremely dissatisfied with our stay.

William Stout, director of operations is to be saluted. Abandoned by Lyft as he got us totally lost with no English spoken at all, a lady dropped me here. We met accidentally in the lobby and he offered to rescue me, he called it part of "The Hyatt Touch." Arron Dominguez, director of food and beverage seated me for lunch. All chip in too help no matter how high of a rank they hold. The view is one of a kind. There is no substitute for this property as the web shows. Nestled above the Pacific on the way to Big Sur on Coast Highway 1. The ocean gives a never repeated show. Part of the property are time shares with kitchens. Next door is The Ticket Pink hotel, but the Hyatt Touch is what matters. Food is above of any chain. I enjoyed a hamburger with a bowel of clam chowder. Simple American fare, for a simple unadulterated view. The burger is served on a french roll of sorts. The burger was plant based, I ordered in error. The cheerful waiter, Anselmo insisted I would enjoy the true beef. 18 years here, one does not argue with experience, he insisted I try the fries. Fries were delicious of course. Robert Ryan (Rolls Royce) runs a good ship as general manager. Hyatt insists no real Christmas trees inside as a fire hazard could exist. Fake trees and Hyatt Highlands Inn simply do not mix. So a real, real large decorated tree greets you as you enter the hotel. Water, no ice was the only flaw in the almost flawless lunch. Another waiter filled the glass. Better to fill an empty glass immediately then to leave it empty. Full bottle of Tabasco delivered, not one half full. Half is not enough for this almost cliff hanging property. It is all or nothing at all. Ansel Adams (Google) lived nearby. Inspiring photos of a completive artist adorn the hotel One does not argue with such experience. Experience is what this abode is all about. There is no substitute for experience. If you find such, let me know.

We stayed here for our anniversary weekend and were very pleased. I was a little nervous about it given some reviews I saw on here about how dated the property was. I didn’t once think the property was dated. The grounds are beautiful, the restaurant had a gorgeous view, and the hot tubs around the property were amazing. We stayed in an ocean view room and it was perfect. The room had a large deck, fireplace, and romantic ambiance. In the evenings they had dancing and a piano player in the main area. We particularly loved the breakfast in the mornings, my wife commented that it was the one of the top 2 breakfasts she’d ever had at a hotel. My wife summed it best, she said it was the nicest hotel we had stayed at and was on par with our honeymoon hotel which was a 5 star property in Hawaii. We were very impressed.
