LEGOLAND California Hotel garners praise for its immaculate facilities and the cleanliness of both the rooms and waterpark. While the unique Lego-themed atmosphere and family-oriented amenities are a hit with children, providing hours of fun, reviewers often mention room sizes as small and sometimes poorly maintained. Although early park access is a bonus, some guests have expressed concerns over the hotel's value, pointing out hidden fees and high costs. Service quality receives mixed feedback, with instances of both prompt assistance and frustrating delays.

We stayed two nights in the Adventure fully themed with balcony room # 3012, We payed more for the fully themed and balcony (which I would highly recommend) as so we would have a table and chairs to eat on in the room. The room itself need some maintenance , as the canopy that was supposed to be above the bed was gone, and a row of tiles in bathroom were missing. The important thing thou is that it was clean. On the second day there, we rented a pool Cabana. The big question is, was it worth the $250.00? While yes and no .Upon check -in you have to reserve a time slot for the pool. the amount of time you have at the pool is, one hour and thirty mins, unless you have rented a half day Cabana. We choose to rent one, so it would give a little more space to social distance,so we could relax a little during Covid . It also gave the kids more time at the pool. So in that aspect it would be worth it. The problem with that is the Cabana was also in need of maintenance. The zippers were broke, so you could not close the sides at all. The other problem with that was , every hour and a half. everybody had to exit the pool while they cleaned for twenty mins., which by the way I was happy to see they took cleaning seriously, but when you get out of the pool it was so cold. While we had a Casaba to warm up in right? We would have if we were able to zip up the sides. The nice pool boy tried to fix it using paper clips but the wind keep blowing them off. He tried really hard for us, we really appreciated that. Finally toward the end he did get it to stay a little, it wasn't complicity closed but it helped some.

There were no inherent problems nor issues that warrant a complaint nor recommendations for changes or improvements.

It was easy to check in and check out.

My only comment has nothing to do with the arrival process, more the general policy of Check in at 4pm and Check Out by 11am, which seems like a short window to enjoy the room, relax and even nap the kids for a day. You figure, if you check in at 4pm, odds are you're already in the Legoland park then off to dinner, so you'd not break the day up to run and get your room at 4pm, so you may not even get to your room by 7pm, after dinner maybe even 8pm, then you unwind and sleep to wake up maybe between 7-9am, and with the Legoland Hotel early park access at 9am, you may check out right away to spend the day at the park. You'd essentially just have a hotel with a place to sleep for 12 hrs or less of use.

My recommendation, and I know the state of the rules is born out of housekeeping cleaning and getting rooms ready, but trying for a closer to true 24 hour day room access or better hours. I think reasonably a check in by 2pm would be fair (more ideally 11am-2pm would be a sweet spot for napping kids), then have the check out the same around 11am or push it back to 10am, unless the check in stays at 4pm, then let people stay to 2pm check out to access the room for naps and use the pool (I know pool use is available despite checking out, but you still need to shower and clean up).

The ideal scenario, which can be logistically harder, but more fair would be to allow guests to schedule a 22 hour window (allowing those 4 hrs for clean up and a buffer to coordinate room availability) so if you come in at 11am, to check in, you leave by 9am est, if you check in at 12pm noon, you check out by 10am and if you check in at 8pm in the evening, you don't have to check out 'til 6pm the next day.

The rates and amenities warrant some sort off consideration like that.

Overall the proximity of the hotel to the theme park and ease of access is convenient and ideal.

The rooms were nice overall and the Pirate's Room had 4 unique sleeping surfaces and the room could sleep up to 5 people.

We had re- booked this vacation a few times due to covid. I read the reviews when I initially booked in January of 2020 and they were great. When I read the more recent review from summer of 2021 I was a bit worried but I was pleasantly surprised that we didn't experience any of the things written about other reviews.

Our kids LOVED the themed room, we paid for the full-theme room and thought it was worth the experience. The elevator rides and dance parties at night were their highlight.

We haven't been to Disney but we felt like this hotel truly thought of everything when it comes to kids. The kid area had their own TV with only kid channels, there is a kid peep hole, a kid toilet seat attached to the toilet, sprayers in the shower, soap pumps instead of bar soap and a stool in the bathroom for easy hand washing for smaller kids.

I loved the "text" option for front desk questions. They always responded right away and I felt like anytime we asked for towels or anything it arrived shortly after. We did have to ask quite a few things that I feel like the the front desk probably should have gone over but thankfully we knew to ask. Things like early park entrance etc.

There was a man named Baruch who did Balloon Art and was a magician who was very friendly and personable with the kids and parents in the lobby area.

They are not cleaning rooms nightly unless requested due to Covid, which was fine. The only bummer about this is we had to request our legos each day for our kid safe and then place those in without our kids looking since they were super excited about that part of the hotel stay. We figured out a work around but if you don't ask new legos are not automatically delivered like normal non-covid times.

The only thing that made me cringe during these covid times is the breakfast buffet in the morning. There are A LOT of people in one space all eating and kids were not all being watched so I saw little hands going into bowls of food instead of using tongs etc. I get it, kids are kids but maybe allow people to take breakfast to go during this odd time. We tried and were told no by the restaurant manager.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel to other families with lego obsessed kids. Our son is 8, super into legos and thought this place was awesome. Our daughter is 6, isn't super into legos but also loved the hotel.

We stayed in early February for three nights (Sat/ Sun/ Monday) night. The hotel staff was nice throughout the stay, but overall the place needs improvement. It is looking a little worn and outdated. The description of the hotel rooms is a little misleading when it states the kids rooms have a separate sleeping area. They do not. It is a little nook. There is no curtain, wall, or door that separates the area from the parents sleeping area. We jimmy-rigged a blanket to block out the light from our part, otherwise parents are going to bed when the kids do. I am not sure how parents are supposed to take advantage of the "reverse happy hour" when the door to the kids' area opens to the sleeping area. We used the texting wizard to request a bed rail for by 2 year old daughter. Per their documents, "Request will be granted in 15 minutes." 50 minutes later, I called down and was told "We have a full house tonight, so we are behind on requests." Twenty minutes after that, a staff member arrived to tell me he had search everywhere, but they were all out of bed rails. I am not sure how that happens when they should plan on potentially one rail per room. Also to note, there was only lukewarm water the Sat/ Sun night since it was a full house. Very disappointing after a cold and rainy day, not to have a hot shower. The very nice benefit of the hotel was being able to leave Legoland and be right at our room within five minutes. It helped when it was rainy and we were soaked despite using ponchos. The hotel does need more food options as there are only two places to eat and it is highly inconvenient to leave the resort. The parking situation is an extra headache, especially since you have to drive the entire parking lot to get to the hotel entrance. Just pay for the valet service since it is only $3 more a day. Overall, our two kids (5 & 2) had a good time and we were glad we had two days. My husband and I both say we are glad we went, had two days, but we have no desire to return. If we did it again, I would not stay at the hotel and get an AirBnB or VRBO. Have the space/ kitchen, and just keep things in the car if needed since you can leave and re-enter the park with stamp.

Wow, I was utterly disapointed at the level of service at this hotel.

Upon arrival, i was notified that valet was full so I had to self park competing with thousands of others visiting the theme park, picture that.

Room was not ready until approximately 5 pm. Our supposed balcony room was a room with a view of the side parking lot.

The restaurants were at best comparable to IHOP. No room service and said restaurants were only open for a few hours per day. Large majority of the hotel staff are teenagers which in the service industry is always a bad sign.

They offer free breakfast but you have to jump through hoops to get it. You literally have to make a reservation, through some garbage app, between the hours of x an y to be able to eat, otherwise tough luck.

For the 3 days we were there, our room was never cleaned/made up. The staff just came by daily and left a couple of towels. They offered liquid shampoo and soap reusable disposers which are locked on the walls. Talk about spreading bacteria and disease.

Valet parking $28 with only one attendant for the entire hotel. Self parking is $25 which is a total rip off.

Pool was closed for an entire day in the middle of July.

I only added one star because it is adjacent to the theme park and thats where the good pretty much ends.

Basically a holiday in level establishment selling itself as a resort and charging a premium for it.

Glad I paid with Amex, will definitely be calling them for a resolution.

Updated my original review to knock it down a few in ratings because of an incident at the end of our stay. He was standing on the little wooden stool while at the sink and it slipped out back from under him. Luckily my wife was there to grab him but he still had some pain from part of his chest hitting the edge of the sink counter.

I am not sure if there is supposed to be some grip at the bottom of those things but it can be real slippery on that floor. If you are staying at the hotel, check those stool first.

Pros:
Everyone is wearing masks

Everyone does a good job in distancing where they can

Elevators rules are one family per ride and the guests follow it.

Room was very clean. I still feel they need to not book guest in the same room on the same day the prior guest check out. They should at least just give it one day in between.

They just opened up the mini land area so guest can at least check it out and walk around that area.

Big shop is open but stock on items isn’t as what it used to be. Still it’s nice to shop and build it in the room.

They had a shared microwave on each floor which was nice and of course a fridge in each room.

Cons

Food - A limited selection and the value for what you get is a thumbs down in this review. Best options are to get take out from local restaurants since there are a lot around. We didn’t valet since self parking is pretty easy and the lot is so close. If you do want to help out and support the valet workers and bell hops, valet is available.

Pool - They have reservation slots which is fine but they still overbook. The pool is a little too crowded during these times. Everyone in the pool chairs are decently spaced out but the pool is crowded (this was mid week even). They do utilize both pools (castle and legoland hotel).

Overall: I would easily do this again during the pandemic. Safety was our concern and the rooms and overall hotel experience made us comfortable with how they are handling it (except the pool). The opening up of the mini land area was nice. At least they are trying to do something there. There are a lot of good restaurants to choose from nearby so there is a optional food solution.

If they can improve on their food selection and even open up more of Legoland to where hotel guest can just go for a walk, that would be nice. Even offering some of the legoland food options for the hotel guest would help with the food options. I mean the burgers and churros have always been so good :)

If you are a LEGOLAND pass member, you can find great deals on hotel stays during the off season. Staying overnight lightens the stress from making breakfast at home, trying to get the kids to get ready, hoping out of a car (after a nagging drive) and into lines to get into the park. Instead, you can start your day with a FREE massive breakfast (take some of their coffee to go) and the park is right outside your hotel (back) door. We stayed 2 nights and didn't feel the annoying rushing feeling we get when we head to the park (straight from home). We will be back to the hotel in a few years in the summer.

We stayed at the Legoland Hotel and our recent trip to Legoland. We wanted to give the kids the full experience on their first trip to Legoland. I really liked all the communications that they sent leading up to our stay. We arrived early and out room were not ready so they held our bags for us while we went into the park. I really like their system of communicating via the text chatbot (I forgot its name) as we were notified when our room was ready. When we got to our room it was like a 2nd adventure. We were on the explorer floor and the room was great. My wife and I loved how the kids are on the other side of the suite (I am sure the kids loved the separation also). We did not spend a lot of time in the room but the kids loved playing with the Lego that they give you in the room and playing on the bunk beds. The text chat bot also was the way to communicate with the hotel staff if you needed anything or had any questions. They responded quickly and it was very efficient. The kids loved the big Lego pit in the lobby, the evening dance party (also in the lobby), the disco in the elevator, and the whoopie cushion on the 1st floor by the elevator (I have to admit I jumped on it a few times for fun myself). We have breakfast there and the food was very good. The only complaint was that they charge for parking but that’s common on many hotel properties. Overall our stay there was wonderful and though it more expensive than some of the area hotels, we would likely stay there again if we go back to Legoland.

Paid for 3 rooms, requested microwaves so we could warm bottles, never received them. Roll out bed awful no top sheet or bedding, if you are in a wheelchair, think twice about going here!! No one ever explained the requirements needed to go into the park being in a wheelchair. They give early entry (30) min, big deal, gets you on one ride as all others were down. RIDICULOUS

Our girls love staying at the Legoland hotel. The room has a bunk bed with a trundle and an exclusive TV for the kids. They love the surprise when doing the treasure hunt. The breakfast buffet is awesome for adults and kids, with a special station of food that is at the kids’ height. And the staff do an amazing job with entertainment in the evenings and make the kids feel special. Often, when purchasing Legoland tickets together with the hotel room as a package, it can be a comparable deal to staying at other hotels. It is a special treat to stay at the Legoland hotel!

I don’t know about 3 YO and under. Our hotel package included breakfast and a gift for the kids everyday. Sorry, I don’t know the answer to your last question.

Hello! We bought the hotel package with the two-day park hopper pass. The passes included the aquarium and Legoland, but we had to pay extra for the waterpark.

Good luck! There are no humans that work there. No one answers the phone except maybe the operator. You have to check yourself in and out and make your own reservations to eat with a different app. You might just want to reach out to your credit card company if it drags on too long.
