First, the good news. The hotel is very conveniently located near SFO and nearby restaurants and other amenities. Also the price for our one night stay was very reasonable. Now the bad. The room while clean was missing coffee cups and water glasses. The gym was not clean, meaning dirt and debris on the floors, smudged mirrors, a funky smell and what may have been poop tracked in on the floor. Water cups also ran out by mid morning. Breakfast is not included, limited hours for the buffet and a restaurant with few choices none appropriate for a vegan. Small things to most of us but better housekeeping and attention to meal choices would make this a solid choice. Until management attends to these I rate this hotel a solid meh.

Crowne Plaza SFO is located in Burlingame, a short drive from the airport, SFO. They operate an airport shuttle charged at $5 one way, and they also drop off at the Bart station. Parking at the hitel is charged at $20 a day. There is a nice bar and restaurant on the ground floor as well as a small indoor pool and a decent size gym with machines and weights. The hotel could do with a refresh as the decor feels a little dated both in the common areas and in the rooms. The rooms are quite small, with small bathrooms. Whilst perfectly reasonable standard, the rate coupled with price for shuttle, parking, and restaurant prices it becomes quite expensive for what you get. On the bonusside it is a 5 minute drive from the airport.

Excellent location near SFO. Courteous reception staff. Eight days of parking included with the standard room for $186.
However, when we stepped into the highly perfumed room, we knew that they were covering something up. Within an hour or two the smell of cigarette smoke was overwhelming. Unfortunately, it was already almost midnight so we didn’t want to change rooms. So, if you stay at this hotel, you may want to ask them to show you the room before you pay.
Airport shuttle cost five dollars per person each way.

We caught the shuttle from the airport after a long flight from the UK.
Quick and easy check in, very comfy bed and pillows!
Fantastic breakfast the following morning so we were set up perfectly to start our adventure!

Booked 2 rooms at the Crowne Plaza SFO airport for Apr 9-10, 2022.
I was not aware until doing the online check in that the restaurant and bar in the hotel were closed due to Covid (they say).
The check in staff were nice and had our rooms ready when we checked in at 7pm. They allowed me to park in the lot for a few minutes after unloading so that I could return our rental car that evening instead of the next day.
The hallways were very dark and did not appear to be that clean. The hallway carpets on the upper floors are in need to replacement.
The rooms are small but for 1 night sufficient. My relatives found mold or dirt on the shower curtains in their room.
The next morning I went downstairs for coffee and there was none and the breakfast that they said would be served from 7a-10a turned out to be room service only (which was not clearly explained on arrival).
When we took the shuttle bus to the airport the driver told us that it would be a $5 per person charge which was never disclosed up front. Then to make matters worse he blew right past the stop for Terminal 1 and eventually had to loop back around.
It's a dismal place and one I would NEVER stay at again.

While our room was fine, most everything else was below par. We stayed at the Crowne Plaza both outbound and on the return, and both times we were unsuccessful in using the airport shuttle so we had to take taxis both times. The first time we missed the shuttle due to a scheduled break and the check-in agent had failed to tell us about it when we checked in. All she said was that the shuttle departs every 24, 54 min after the hour. The charge to the airport is $5, btw. On the return, we waited at the designated hotel shuttle stop at SFO in the cold rain for an hour in the evening and no shuttle showed up, even tho we called the hotel 3 times and they told us to keep waiting and keep waiting...this is probably due to the fact that the shuttle makes no money picking people up from the airport. Finally the Supervisor on duty said to take a taxi and they would reimburse. So we did and had the driver stop at a market so we could get some shandwiches since there are NO SERVICES available at the hotel..it's all shut down. The supervisor did not want to pay the slight extra that the detour to the market cost...she did not care that we were freezing and kept waiting at the airport for an hour, and she did not care that there were no services open at the hotel...we were s--t out of luck. The check in agent was rude and tried to ignore us when we were negociating with the Supervisor over the cab fare. I'll stop now, but I do not recommend this property.

Worst experience… checking in was a breeze. We dropped off our luggage then went out to explore SF and caught a late movie. We came back and there were NO parking spots left and people were even double parking in front of other cars. Also, they were already charging $24.00 per night and still there was no parking. We pulled off to go talk to the front desk to see what could be done and the man working there between the hours of 12:00-1:00 am was nasty, rude and dismissive. We asked what to do as we were supposed to be here for two nights and he basically said we can’t park near the red areas and we will get towed or that we needed to just cancel our reservation. He waved us off, gave absolutely no help and didn’t even look at us when he was talking and was about to just cancel our reservation right then but I quickly was able to tell him not to cancel so we could figure something out. We stepped off so we could figure out what to do and we were able to go to Holiday Inn not far away. We quickly gathered our things from the room and went back up to the desk where him and his manager, who wasn’t there for the previous conversation, to cancel our reservation and they told us we would get a full refund. The man seemed to be more helpful now because his manager was there but still had an attitude. He just made the whole experience the worst. This was not pleasant, causing last minute changes to a reservation I had booked one month in advance, and so early in the morning. This San Francisco location needs to have staff retrained and better parking.
Now 3 weeks later, I was told I would receive a refund, but they could only refund me what they received from my credit card company since I booked through their travel site and it was considered a 3rd party, I have yet to receive any refund. I called the hotel last week to talk to some one and they transferred me to someone who takes care of accounting, no one picked up and I left a message, never received a call back. My credit card company told me that they are responsible for issuing a FULL refund.
Now 3 weeks later, I was told I would receive a refund, but they could only refund me what they received from my credit card company since I booked through their travel site and it was considered a 3rd party, I have yet to receive any refund. This hotel is located between the airport, a busy highway and very close to a fire station... even with ear plugs it was impossible to get any sleep here. Add to that, it looks like it hasn't been renovated in over a decade and had a noisy old style AC and dirty bathroom. I can't believe Crowne Plaza would associate themselves with this brand. Oh, and the shuttle to the airport takes 20 min... lots of better places near the airport.

Stayed here because of an early flight. The person who checked us in barely spoke English. We asked about the shuttle and was told it was $5.00 per person. When I booked, it was a free shuttle. Was told we had to make a reservation but couldn’t tell us how to get on the website. The restaurant and bar were closed and there were no places to eat in close proximity. As an IHG member, I knew we got points, I had to ask for them. Next trip to San Francisco will not include a stay at this old worn down property.

My suggestion would be to avoid this hotel. My experience there was poor. First, I booked in part because the hotel advertised a free shuttle from the airport. Well, despite the hotel's website saying this on the day I arrived, the shuttle was not longer free and in order to get a ride to the hotel after a long flight I had to pay for the less than 2 mile ride for each member of my party. Next, the hotel was lacking in staff. When I asked for some blankets the response I received from the front desk was they could not provide them unless I came to the lobby myself to collect them. Also, I asked the morning front desk staff where I might go for a cup of coffee - he responded he had no idea. So overall, false advertising and a lack of staff as well as knowledgeable people. The room was quite small and unappealing. Look elsewhere.
