GOOD: -The grounds are beautiful. They're well maintained, nicely landscaped and great to walk around -The beach is stunning. There are many lounge chairs in private areas to choose from, each with their own service button through which you can easily call a waiter for food/drinks -The rooms are beautifully decorated and spotless -We were greeted by a bottle of wine, fruit and chocolates in our room, which was lovely BAD: -We arrived to our garden view double junior suite, which was on the ground floor. Both of our rooms stunk of mold/mildew. We immediately called the front desk to be asked to move, preferably to a suite on a higher floor (that way, we could open our windows). We figured that on a higher floor, we'd be more comfortable getting fresh air by opening windows. The front desk was great and we were moved -When we got to our second suite, the smell of mold/mildew was even worse. It was truly unbearable, even with open windows -While in our second suite, we ordered room service for dinner. We ordered four entrees and asked for the burger to be well done. When our food arrived, we only received two sets of cutlery and the burger was medium rare. We called down, and were told that they'd come retrieve our burger and recook it (lack of food safety!). When we requested to speak to a manager, the staff member wouldn't allow us -The next day we met with Anthony, the hotel manager, to express our dissatisfaction. Paying approx. $17,000 CAD for five nights for the room and breakfast, we had much higher expectations - especially from a "top rated" 5 star hotel. Our biggest concern was the mold/mildew in the rooms, which was a health and safety concern. We requested a refund and wanted to leave the hotel at this point, as we were so disappointed. The manager initially denied that there was a mold/mildew issue and said we were the first ones to complain. However, we quickly retrieved Tripadvisor reviews related to mold/mildew and he backtracked. After a few hours of dealing with Expedia and the manager, we were told that we couldn't leave but were offered a room upgrade. The new room (luxury ocean front suite with kitchen) was beautiful and mold/mildew free. We stayed there for the remainder of the trip and really appreciated Anthony's efforts -Please note that while the hotel boasts four restaurants, the daytime menus (room service, at the pool/beach, at the restaurants) have menus that are essentially the same with very minor differences. The food is mediocre, which isn't great considering you pay $20-$30 USD for a wrap/burger/bowl. Options are lacking. Additionally, there is only one restaurant open for dinner - SUI REN. The food is fine, but not worth paying approx. $450 USD for a lower end bottle of wine, two appetizers, four small soups and four entrees. I could've made chicken teriyaki of the same quality at home -Echoing other reviews, service was inconsistent. There were staff who were absolutely amazing and kind, and others who were grumpy and seemed bothered when asked anything -The free breakfast was fine - nothing special. -We booked a catamaran trip through the concierge. While we had a great day snorkelling and on the water, the boat we were on was by no means a catamaran I'd give the hotel three stars, but considering it's a 5 star resort and we ended up paying $17,000CAD for two rooms for five nights, I have higher expectations and am unable to provide a higher rating.…
We stayed here for our last night before our flight back to NYC and were impressed by how beautiful the resort and beach are. You don't feel overwhelmed by the number of people staying here because of the high landscaping and beautifully constructed rooms and buildings (though which only have one elevator used by both staff and visitors). We loved the options of pools to explore and bars to hang out in (pool bars). We loved our room and appreciated how quiet it was even though we had a pool view. Breakfast was also delicious. What I didnt like: 1. Over a course of 24 hours where we twice visited the front desk to say we wanted a taxi to the airport and then the morning of our departure called them from the hotel room to confirm the taxi request, they managed to completely mess up this simple normal request and did not even apologize. The valet supervisor was so obnoxious I refused to speak to him after our first conversation about the mess up (the front desk ladies were more helpful). Definitely far from 5 star service. 2. We were grateful that we were able to get our room before the normal check in time, but having initially said that someone would bring us our room key when the room was ready, we had to call 1.5 hours later and were told to come pick up the key whenever - again not exactly $1000 a night treatment from a 5 star resort. 3. The food at their fine dining restaurant is mediocre. The service was good however. 4. There was construction by one of the main pools all day. It was funny and sad to watch as again you would think that more care would be taken not to disrupt the experience for the guests while not knocking down walls in the most clumsy way possible (we witnessed this). 5. Though breakfast was great, the table service was not. We had to ask for our bill 5 times before we actually received it (20 min wait after we were ready to leave). The breakfast area was not super busy for such oversight and again, no where near 5 star experience.…
This past week marked our third trip to The Shore Club since it opened. It really has everything that we like in a resort. First class, different pool options, a great beach, fitness center and a very friendly staff. One noticeable thing we saw on this trip was that the word is getting out and it was busier than usual. As for food, the buffet breakfast provides just the right amount of options and quality and the menus for lunch are very good. We haven’t normally eaten dinner at the resort and prefer to go outside to the many great restaurants in Grace Bay and on that side of the island. It’s nice to see some of the original staff since it opened. Latoya and Jermaine specifically and you can understand why. Excellent customer service. We are always up for trying new places, but this is one resort we will definitely be back again.…
The perfect setting on the windward side of the island of Turks and Caicos. Access to most water sports at no additional charge, home-bakes cookies, fruit, water and Nespresso throughout the day. Yummy breakfasts with a wonderful omelet chef included. Meal presentation is lovely, but as a super particular and well fed eater- the beef served could be better. Amazing desserts after dinner. A juice bar and raw foods should be added, bringing cuisine to the next level...Clean well stocked fitness center, tennis courts and lap pool. 4 pools total. Although the service is quite good, there is always a bit of room for improvement. I dislike asking more than once for something, and for that request to take days to be fulfilled. Overall the rooms are lovely, but management needs to be cognizant of room carpets/mini friges and other misc basics in need of repair or replacement! Our lovely server at lunch ran to the spa, made us each a massage appointment! That's wonderful service!! We showed up 15 minutes early for paperwork and the spa manager "just gave our appointments away to a couple that walked in requesting massages" Who does that? Overall, the spot amazing, amenities abound, private yet social, relaxing yet plenty to do and lovely staff- many of whom try extremely hard, doing a wonderful job!!! 8.5/10…
I’m torn about what review to leave for this resort; some of our experience was absolutely worthy of 5 stars and some of it was unfortunately definitely not. To start, we had really excellent service. It is also undoubtedly a really gorgeous setting and well kept resort with nicely manicured grounds. However, for a full half of our trip, 3 days) the pool that our room and balcony overlooked was randomly under construction (we were not warned about this construction ahead of time or given any kind of consolation for this issue). As a result, it was loud all day long from our room which was really annoying, so we couldn’t enjoy the use of our balcony or leave our balcony door open. Another thing that was disappointing about it was that we had decided it was the best pool at the resort, and we ended up not being able to use it! Once the construction began we asked about it and they said it was construction that would last for one day only, but it literally ended up being closed and noisy for the rest of our trip (and it’s still going on now as we left). They tried to keep the noise down and put up nice barriers so that walking by you couldn’t see the construction, and they continued to play music to drown it out, so they tried I guess, but that can only do so much when you pay for a room overlooking that pool. There are also only three pools and three restaurants on the property so being down one of each was pretty disappointing, and nothing was done to rectify this for us during our stay, which was particularly unfortunate for a place of this caliber and I would have expected more honestly. It was a very expensive pool view to be paying for when that pool is just a bunch of construction. I understand that things break sometimes and need to be fixed but there are definitely ways we’ve experienced to help guests still feel valued and like the cost and everything was worth it. As for the other pools, both are very well maintained and have a view of the ocean, which is nice. You can order nice casual meals and drinks to be delivered to you at either pool. There are nice modern buttons you can press if you need something and people come around and check on you often as well. I do wish there were some more lunch options on property. But regardless, we really enjoyed pina cooladas, strawberry daiquiris, margaritas, and other beach drinks. We also really enjoyed the tuna poke bowl, and the local fish ceviche. We did not really enjoy the turkey panini, the salmon wrap, or the fries; the Caesar salad was okay. Something strange that happened to us at several of the more casual restaurants we tried was that some things listed on the menu items we ordered were left off of the food when it arrived, we assume this is because we are on an island with limited access to resources, but each time it was something a bit disappointing (like the avocado from the poke bowl, for instance). Again though, the service is really excellent. For dinner, the colonnade pool restaurant, while it was open, had really yummy sweet and sour local fish that I would recommend! The jerk chicken was weirdly not very authentic and I wouldn’t recommend that as much. But overall we found good food and great drinks multiple places. The construction at the main pool aside, our room itself was really lovely, had a nice amount of space, had a nice soaker tub, a fridge, and really great cleaning service. The WiFi was pretty slow throughout the resort but that’s sometimes expected on islands and we managed. The only other minor issue is that to get to and from our room we had to take the elevator which was pretty slow and made me nervous a few times when the doors would get a bit stuck to close, which never ended up being a real problem but might be something to look at. Overall we loved the beach, everywhere was very well kept and manicured, and the service was very excellent. We enjoyed the free tennis courts and equipment and other water activity equipment. We also enjoyed the free shuttle between their sister resorts so that we could try out other restaurants and get easy access to the little town and the Grace Bay side of the island. The shuttle is key as taxi service on the island is quite expensive! It was interesting staying on this side of the island as it is very windy at times which could make it a bit chilly, but because of that wind we could enjoy watching the kite surfers from the beach! This side of the island is also just a lot more private which was nice for what we wanted out of it. I wish I could have given this resort a better rating for all of the nice things about it, but it just didn’t end up being true of the experience we had overall. …
