Stayed for a week while on a business trip. Beautiful surrounding, simple but clean place with friendly staff. Breakfast was decent. Room was small, bed little uncomfortable but ok. Heavy rain made lots of noise on the rooftop Windows during one night. There is a beautiful running/hiking trail in the forest next to the hotel.
The proprietors, Herr und Frau Knittel, make this family run hotel a true gem. You feel like a family guest not just a customer with friendly attentive service. The view of the horses frolicking in the pastures occupy the morning and the extensive network of walking paths are great for both people and dogs.
The family Knittel who runs this hotel really does a great job. My family and I are incredibly picky about hotels and inspect them thoroughly when we check in because we've run into bed bugs in the past. This hotel was amazingly clean from top to bottom. My daughter remarked at how , "they even folded our pajamas and put them under our pillows!" The owners were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was great. We loved the quiet location and the restaurant just across the parking lot had super, home-made German food. The only thing that could have been better was the beds were too firm for us, but that's just a preference thing and we're spoiled by our Tempurpedic at home. Thank you Knittel family!
Two things really stand out about this place. First is location -- it is convenient to the S-Bahn (5-10 minute drive) and nearby Stuttgart, but it is also secluded, nestled in the heart of a surrounding forest reserve. If you like a good walk in the woods, this place is for you. Second, the owner/proprietors are remarkably friendly and caring people. I stayed on the property for a week and they unobtrusively took care of my every need. When I left my room in the morning for breakfast, my room was cleaned when I came back -- every time. When I expressed a desire to walk in the woods, Herr Knittel worried that I might get lost and produced a map. Contrary to what others have reported, the owners are conversant in English and at least one of the employees (a daughter, perhaps?) is quite fluent. It is true that the hotel is in the flight path to the Stuttgart airport and planes regularly pass a few thousand feet overhead. This did not bother me in the least, even in the summer with the windows open, but it might be a concern to some people.…
Very pleasant, clean, modern. It is set on the edge of a forest with some great hiking. A nice restaurant, although not connected, is on the property. 15 minutes from airport. However, need a car - is not situated close to the S-Bahn. It's also a little noisy from planes flying overhead but that is not a problem during the night. Nice soft towels - best we had in Europe.
