Between Mandy's incredible hospitality, the immaculate rooms, the views of whales breaching in the bay out the windows, the decadent breakfasts, and espressos that flow like water, this is the nicest and most comfortable place we've ever stayed. Our big group of 12 people could not have asked for a better place to base our explorations of the Cape. Thank You, Mariner!

We stay away from home monthly due to business. The stay at Mariners was one of the best the past few months. The rooms are spacious and clean. Everything you need is in the room and more. The breakfasts were good with a nice variety. The staff, exceptional. Mariners is our new address when ever in Simons Town.

The accommodation is very nice, modern and situated on the hill with an excellent view over Simons Town. Our room was large, had a very well equipped small kitchenette and from the balcony you could admire the sunrise. The breakfast was good and sufficient. There were delicious hot breakfast options, but also cereals, yoghurt, fruits. Coffee you could help yourself to was filter coffee. The owner was very warm, helpful, and helped us plan our tours. After we told her that the whale-watching tours were fully booked, she managed to make a reservation in Simons Town. Only note: Wi-Fi and light did not work continuously during the loadshedding.

I am pleased that you enjoyed our facilities and hospitality. People don't always realise that Simon's Town also has whale watching and other boat trips, so I'm glad we were able to assist you with booking a local trip. We are in the process of getting solar power for electricity, so back-up lights, etc won't be a problem in the future. Until everything is installed, we have replaced our inverter for WiFi all through loadshedding. ;)

We were a family of 5, and stayed at this establishment for 5 days in early January 2024.
This is an outstanding guesthouse set up on the hill in Simon's Town with a stunning view of False Bay. Breakfast was delicious and generous, and the outstanding service and assistance from Amanda were very much appreciated. The rooms were neat and clean, and they met our needs during our stay. I would recommend this guesthouse.

We just came back from our one night stay at Mariner’s Guesthouse. The views are beautiful and the Honeymoon room was ok, although the one hot water tap wasn’t working. There are very little amenities available, no pool and the bathroom amenities are lacking a lot, no shower cap, face towels, no little soaps etc., no little chocolates on your bed at R2000 per night which is no value for money and there is no complementary water therefore you have to pay from the minibar in the room.
Breakfast is mediocre, nothing special overcooked ingredients. The receptionist was blunt and zero personality and was just interested to settle the outstanding amount
Sorry Guys there are better deals around!

We wanted to spend several days exploring the Peninsula itself so Simonstown was an ideal base.
The property was easy to find and luckily staff were at hand to help with our bags as there are a lot of steps.
The room was of a good size with separate kitchenette hidden behind a door.
Breakfast was good each morning and the staff friendly.
We found the property noisy at nights as the staff dont live in, one night it was like being in a hostel with people shouting, it was quite threatening. We mentioned this to the manager in the morning who said she would speak to the people involved.

Hi Sally, thank you for your feedback. I am sorry about your noisy neighbours. We have a no-noise policy which all guests are made aware of when they check in. Most guests respect this request, and the house is generally quiet. We have live-in staff and there is always a staff member on duty making sure everything is fine. Sorry we did not hear these guests during our rounds.

The garden Appartement is a wonderful place with a lovely view across the bay. And with the large windows even warm in winter/early spring. The breakfast was lekker.
Lisel gave us great advice where we could go (farm market on a Wednesday f.e.) and the people working at the reception were very helpful calling Europcar when we had problems with the WiFi in the car.

Thank you, and yes, we agree, we love our Garden Apartment! This is very popular with families and is also pet friendly, as it has an enclosed garden and allows for full self-catering. We were very happy to assist. :)

We stayed in this lovely guesthouse for two nights taking two different rooms.
Both rooms were lovely, very large, super clean and with a wonderful sea view.
Breakfast was very good and we enjoyed the common areas very much.
The heart of this house is Mandy, she is the perfect host. The kindest and most professional host I have ever met.
She was very helpful in finding some toys to keep our little toddler occupied with and she arranged a driver to help us pick up dinner.
The only downside was that since we didn’t have a car it was not very easy to go in town to find shops. Otherwise it is 10 minutes walking distance to the penguin beach.
A lovely stay, we will surely come back and we want to thank Mandy and all the staff who have made our stay special.

Magnificent setting overlooking False Bay. Very clean and well run. The rooms all overlook the bay, with an uninterupted view and are close to town bur away from the noise of the main road. We will certainly return ....soon.

Beautiful view is as far as it goes. Room is unbearably hot . Not even two fans could get the room cool. WiFi on for very short while then disappears. Hot water in the shower disappears when the cold water is added. The bottom sheet barely covers the bottom mattress. For an excutive room? there is nothing excutive about it.

I am happy to hear that you recognise our beautiful view, but I am very sorry that you feel that your room was not what you expected. What we advertise and offer with pride and for the enjoyment by most of our guests: - Panoramic sea views with private balconies for all rooms except for our Sail Rooms/Family Unit - Spacious en-suite bedrooms with extra King-size Beds in Executive Rooms (different bed sizes in different room types with high quality Cotton Percale linen) - DSTV, complimentary Wi-Fi, heating (panel heaters/heated towel rails) and cooling (air-conditioners/ceiling fans) - Central location in a quiet, safe neighbourhood - Excellent breakfast with a variety of continental and hot meal options - Friendly and helpful staff Simon's Town has a very moderate climate with an average temperature high of 24 degrees Celsius in January and February, which are our hottest months. The rooms on our two warmer upper level floors all have air-conditioners, but the ceiling fans of the Executive Rooms on the first floor are normally sufficient along with the fresh sea breeze to cool down these rooms if you open up the sliding door leading to the balcony. The day you stayed was exceptionally hot, but this is very rare for Simon's Town. I am sorry that you did not notice on our web site and our booking confirmation e-mailed to you that only selected rooms have air-conditioner. We support responsible tourism and all our photos and information on the platforms where we advertise are true photos of our various bedrooms and facilities in the house and give accurate information on services and facilities. In terms of the free Wi-Fi we offer, this was unfortunately off-line for the afternoon of your arrival. As we tried to explain to you, this was the day when we had an additional router installed for our new Garden Apartment on our ground floor. We apologise that the Wi-Fi only came back on early evening when this improvement to our facilities were completed. At least now the guests in our Garden Apartment will also be able to enjoy a strong signal of our complementary Wi-Fi. Thank you for notifying us of the inconsistent hot water in your shower. We have replaced a washer in this shower so our solar powered hot water should once more be comfortable for future guests.

Hi Nellie, at this stage we will be able to accommodate. Please e-mail us to send you a quote.
I would think they would. I would ask them directly.
Hi there, yes, the Family Unit is ideal for families like yours. The rooms are spacious and inter-leading, each with its own facilities. We can easily add an extra kiddies-bed for your 3 year old.
You are welcome to add on breakfast. Your 3-year old will eat for free. For the rest of the family it will be R130 per person for a full breakfast, which I can assure you is worth it! :)
Kind regards,
Liesel

Hi there,
The Executive rooms are not air conditioned, but they have panel heaters and ceiling fans. These rooms also have sea-facing balconies with a cool breeze that is normally present. Simon's Town has very moderate temperatures, so depending on the time of year you are planning to visit, this might be a consideration.
Our Sail Rooms and Superior Room all have air conditioners. I will tell you more in your next question.
Best regards,
Liesel
