My partner and I stayed at the Moonglow Guest House within the last week of September for one week. My partner is a home grown South African now living in the UK with family living close to the Guest House.
Our immediate impression of the Moonglow Guest House was wow. Wow to the location, wow to the views from the Guest House and wow to the Guest House and rooms. Gillian and Glen are remarkably welcoming, helpful and polite. When we booked this Guest House we took in account the positive reviews this place had and we were not disappointed. Gillian and Glen greeted us like old friends and it truly felt like home from home to us. The staff were equally welcoming and quick to help if needed. The rooms are exemplary and easily five star rating. The quality displayed in the clean beds and freshly ironed sheets, quality en-suite, the tasty freshly cooked breakfasts with hassle free service, the beautiful resting rooms and bar classily decorated. Our room opened up onto a beautiful balcony that provided us with more space. One morning whilst on the balcony we watched Southern Right Whale idly swim by. Amazing!
There is so much to say positively about this place but little space in this review to write. The location is perfectly positioned part way on a hill side and this gives the most amazing and breath taking views were no matter where you are within the Guest House you are blessed with mountain, sea and beach views altogether. My camera was never tired of taking snaps of the views.
We aim to make this visit more frequently and will not stay anywhere else. We will see you again! Martin and Korri

Woow.... what a lovely beautiful place. A home away from home and more. Moonglow takes the cup to all accommodation products including big name establishments we stayed during 2 weeks trip. The View, the Cleanliness, Breakfast superb.

Gilian runs the house, friendly and caring. Moonglow even provides a garage for the car, once one‘s back from the trip to the penguins. The perfect outlook on False Bay, sitting on the sheltered terrace, a bottle of wine from the fridge… As for Lunch or Dinner, Dixies Restaurant is found in walking distance. A place where the locals meet and enjoy fabulous food and drinks…

We had the privilege of spending one night at Moonglow Guest house during the past week. Once again we were not disappointed! Each time we visit Moonglow there are improvements which make staying there unbeatable. Moonglow offers exquisite views across False Bay both day and night. By day one can see boat activity and just enjoy the beauty of th sea. By night the lights of Simonstown and Muzenberg make for a romantic and peaceful atmosphere .
The hosts, Gill and Glynn bend over backwards to cater to every need and are beyond welcoming.
The rooms are spotlessly clean and well appointed. Every need is catered for. Luxurious. Definitely the best guesthouse we have ever stayed in. Well done Gill and Glynn!

The location of Moonglow was central to all the tourist sites and the views of the ocean was remarkable. The host was friendly, welcoming and readily available and happy to assist. The rooms were spacious, clean and the bonus of having a microwave and utensils in each room provided the convenience we required.

What a wonderful place! We stayed for 10 nights, as we just wanted to take our time to visit all the interesting things along the coastline and Cape Town as well. The rooms are fine and well kept, just as the total guesthouse is. The atmosphere is really welcoming and the owner Gillian O'Leary is very thoughtful, cheerful and helps out with tips when needed. So, yes, we do recommend Moonglow Guest House to all visitors that make plans to visit the Cape Town region.

Gillian is such a lovely, friendly host! She welcomed us and made us feel right at home during our first 4 days in South Africa. The view from our room was amazing, we woke up at 05:30 to draw our curtains open and see the sun rise whilst drinking a cup of tea... Moonglow guesthouse is 5 kilometers from the penguins. In September the Southern Right Whales are in the Bay below us and can be seen from the deck from time to time. We are 20 kilometers from Cape Point Nature Reserve. It is easy to visit the Stellenbosch and Franschoek vineyards from us. Kalk Bay is close by with an old fishing harbour and lovely shops and restaurants. Visit Just Nuisance statue in Simon's Town and the historical town and museum.
