Detailed Reviews
Stayed over the culinary weekend. Write a trip review on Tintswalo boulders based on the following:
I stayed over during the culinary weekend.
Our host Kirsty was accommodating, professional and ensured all ran smoothly. The property is boutique, the open plan lounge/kitchen gives a feeling of home , the room was well appointed with a bath and shower. Chef Dustin prepared some of the most delicious food I’ve had the pleasure of tasting.
The struggle of solo travel, the establishment does not have a solo rate. You pay for the room, so value increases if you have a partner.
The combination of stunning surroundings, exceptional service, and incredible food made for a truly unforgettable experience. I can't wait to return and do it all again!
Overall a great stay.

Our family had the most incredible stay at Tintswalo Boulders—a true hidden gem that we’ll be recommending to everyone we know! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and care, especially by Charlone, who went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable.
The accommodation itself is luxurious and inviting, with beautifully designed suites that make you feel right at home. Waking up to the sound of penguins just outside was a completely unique and magical experience! The location is unbeatable—just steps away from the Boulders Beach penguin boardwalk, where we spent hours watching these charming creatures in their natural habitat.
What really set Tintswalo Boulders apart for us as a family was how kid-friendly it is. The playroom kept our little ones entertained while we soaked in the breathtaking ocean views. Even mealtimes were special—dining on the balcony with penguins below was something we’ll never forget.
This was truly one of the best family getaways we’ve ever had. If you're looking for a perfect blend of luxury, nature, and unforgettable experiences, Tintswalo Boulders is the place to be!
Would give more than 5 stars if we could! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Seeing & hearing the penguins from this place, adds an extra layer of worthwhile difference to the overnighting experience of this boutique hotel. A couple of miles outside the small, naval town of Simonstown and you have style and individuality that instantly relaxes. Kirsty the Manager clearly runs a tight ship and her welcome was polished, professional and exacting. You get the sense that she doesn’t miss a trick. There’s a homely feel at play as each room - light, bright & airy - morphs effortlessly into the next. Think stately home on a tiny, tiny scale without the grandeur & austerity ; here, there’s warmth & comfort…and gorgeous views out to sea and beyond, to the mountain ranges that head East. The bedrooms are big and well kitted out ! And everything’s been thought about to ensure it being the best accommodation - quality - that guarantees a great night’s sleep. The food is excellent - cooking, taste & presentation - and there are numerous areas to dine privately, most of which have views of the coastline. Completing the picture is a team of the best players, all working together, all understanding the subtlety of terrific customer service. Charloné is a ‘natural’ - understated composure and authority, whilst being easily engaging and authentic. And then there’s Jadon, AKA ‘Man Friday’ ! Quietly spoken, he’s on hand at all the right moments and he knows the essence of what it is to be a highly effective ‘guest relations support’. Never without a smile, he’s ’on it’ and as such, is a wonderful asset to this organisation.

We recently enjoyed a one-night stay at Tintswalo Boulders during their winter special, and it was the perfect "home away from home." From the moment we entered, the aroma of a roast cooking and the sight of a chef preparing in the kitchen set the tone for a warm, welcoming stay. Every staff member made us feel incredibly welcome. The location is ideal, with Boulders Beach just a stone's throw away, and you can even enjoy views of the beach from the lounge area. Our room was spacious and well-furnished, with quality bedding ensuring a comfortable night's rest. The highlight was the incredible three-course dinner, which was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend!

Wow! This is the best hotel experience I’ve ever had. We felt taken care of from the moment we walked in the door, and the Mayflower Room had the largest most luxurious bathroom and wardrobe I’ve ever seen at a hotel. It’s in the perfect secluded location above Boulders Beach, and what a treat to eat breakfast while watching the penguins each morning! We visited for our honeymoon and the staff made us feel so special with champagne in the room, a romantic dinner, and a romantic turn-down with candles all over the room. We especially appreciated Dawi and Taffy who made us feel right at home. I will be dreaming of coming back!

We stayed for four nights in the Water Wich suite. This room has lovely sea views and you can watch the penguins from the large balcony. Kirsty and her team looked after us very well, the breakfasts are very good and the whole guest house is very comfortable. There are three reasons why I have given this review only three stars:
1. Evening meal. We ate in on the first night we arrived. Big mistake. Our meal wasn't just bad it was truly awful. The so-called Caprese salad was made with processed Mozarella that tased of plastic and doused in far-too-much cheap salad dressing. This was followed by seafood pasta, abviously made from a packet of frozen mixed seafood that included a large quantity of crab sticks. Absolutely inedible. This was such a huge contrast to the great meals we had in South Africa, including at nearby seafood restaurants such as Limoncello and Live Bait.
2. Our room was heavilly scented with some kind of air freshener that made us both feel quite queasy. The scent lingered on even after we put the unit outside and asked not to have the room sprayed.
3. We were disappointed with the swimming pool, which is really just a hot tub on the roof.
The swiming pool is hard to correct, but just call it a hot tub! The evening meal should either be of a high standard or otherwaise don't offer it. For a great example of how to do a guest house really well, look no further than Comapss House in Bantry Bay, where we stayed for 5 nights earlier in our holiday.

We were excited to return to Tintswalo. Our second stay was just as wonderful as our first. Such a relaxing and beautifully appointed boutique hotel. The view is breathing taking, the staff is so friendly and attentive, we loved our meals and the opportunity to completely relax. The location provides easy access to town, the beach and the penguins, yet you are tucked away from traffic and can completely escape. This is one of my favorite places to stay and I highly recommend it to everyone.

What an amazing place! Situated in a stunning location overlooking False Bay (and a short walk from the penguin sanctuary), this place feels like a home from home. Tastefully furnished but not pompous. Welcoming but not intrusively so. Fantastic food too. All the staff were fantastic but specific thanks must go to Charloné and the lovely chef (didn’t catch his name) who could not have been more helpful. Would definitely recommend and would love to return too.
