Detailed Reviews
Everyone staying around us was smoking outside, so it just reeked everywhere. Our room smelled like old perfume, so badly that we had to switch rooms for our second night's stay. I thought the beds were really uncomfortable, but the bathroom was really nice. It's at a great location, lots to do around the motel.

I think you may be confused about the property you stayed at. All our beds are new and are top quality. We have no record of your stay ?

Really enjoyed this motel. Good for a few nights stay. Room was very clean, well equipped and serviced daily. Well situated for short drive to Wellington CBD and few good restaurants within walking distance. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Only shortcoming was the comfort of the queen bed, too firm for our taste, so we ended up sleeping on the single beds in the bedroom. Other than this would definitely recommend staying here.

Hubby and I had a night away and decided on this place. We had a studio unit in the new wing and found it to be very good value for money. Stylish and modern - we'll definitely be back next time we're in town.

I was booked in for the $139 executive suite, standard studio room. I was put in room 11. Dust, ants, mould on the bathroom door which was not fit for purpose - it was more like a pantry cupboard door. Bathroom sink beside the bed. Tv wouldn’t work, microwave didn’t work either as the cables were broken and wiring exposed. Shower plug blocked so I was basically having a bath by the time I finished showering. Strange service - Very unhelpful when I asked to upgrade my room at my own expense (I was on a work trip).
The other people on my business course were booked in for the $159 suites which, for the minimal price difference, was vastly better. It doesn’t make much sense to me how they can charge what they did for the shoebox I was in. Bushes were overgrown outside my window so I couldn’t open my small windows unless I wanted bugs for Africa in my room.
I have never stayed in such a bad motel in New Zealand.

Do not be fooled - the photos show the new block, but they will put you in the old wooden rooms, drafty, dirty, smelly and cold.
Booked for 6 people and arrived to find only 5 beds, requested extra towels and blankets and only received an extra blanket on day 2.
The kitchen was over run with ants, when speaking to the staff they were rude and un-helpful , saying that we booked online not with them so wasn't their problem.
Couch had broken arms, the table was wobbly and only held together with a few screws, the tv constantly came up with an error code no HD as it was a basic tv unable to handle to HD Sky tv feed.
Will never stay here again!!!

DO NOT STAY HERE. We arrived and given keys. Upon seeing the accommodation decided not to stay. Filthy, dirty, smelly. Rang flightcentre and sent pictures of the unacceptable conditions. Mind you that this accommodation is in an industrial place 11km from the city. Photos shown on the net certainly were not the ones that we saw in the 2 bed apartment.
The cost for 2 nights was $860.00. Which was refunded to me by flightcentre after numerous not so friendly telephone calls. Found our own airbnb in a beautiful 4 bedroom house only 3 km from the city and paid $720.00 for two nights. I thought that booking with Flightcentre that this sort of thing wouldn't happen but unfortunately it did and I certainly wont go back to them ever again. Mind you that this was the 2nd accommodation that we complained about. The first being in Auckland. The Empire apartments to me was actually student accommodation which resembled backpacker

Dirty and seedy characters hangin around. Across from the shipyard. It smelled, was dirty and we left without a refund, just wanted out of there! Beware! Gross! It was an old cottage like place. Not the 2 story pictured! Bad choice!

I'd avoid it unless you really are on a tight budget. For not much more, you can get significantly better accommodation elsewhere, even in Wellington proper.
The rooms are decent enough (typical 3 star motel) and fairly clean, but it is very noisy. There's significant road noise and, more fatally, you can hear conversations quite clearly from the adjoining rooms. The beds are (as noted below by others) uncomfortable. If it were 25% cheaper, then this would be a good low-budget option, but given the price, I would expect more. This is a very basic motel - don't expect more.

We were transferred over to Dupont after a terrible night's stay in their other motel, Midway Pasifika Lodge, both stays were very unpleasant. There are two full motels being ran by the one outfit and it just doesn't work well. There was bad traffic noise mainly from trucks, which was a real torment for my elderly father with physical disabilities due to a head injury; the truck noise causing him distress and discomfort. There were many maintenance issues in our room, broken facilities etc, and they are just too mean to hire more cleaners. Both motels are being serviced by an understaffed level of cleaning staff. These owners are running two motels with the level of people for one out of greed and not doing a good job for either. We had already had a big issue when we checked in originally to the other facility which was to be split over both facilities where they tried to charge us almost double the amount we should be charged, which I refused to pay until the correct amount originally verbally promised over the phone was agreed to. Also, my elderly mother had ongoing stressful issues with the communal washing machine constantly breaking down. I do not recommend this circus of dual motels ran by amateurs and we did not enjoy our stay. The best part was checking out and finally being out of there.
