We did the premium room in the Adults only section of the hotel and it was a great stay. They room was not "amazing" in decor, but the staff did an amazing job making us feel welcome with fun "lovey" decor for our honeymoon.

Joel Santana in particular, in the premium guest services, was always incredible in helping with anything we needed with information, reservations, information on activities and anything else we needed! All of the staff was always fun and professional, which we loved as guests.

The beach was not crowded when we went, and certainly had an exclusive feel to it. The water was very clear, and you can see why as we saw hotel staff cleaning up any seaweed and stuff just about every afternoon. We even saw 3-4 turtles when we went snorkling just off the beach!

Golf course was beautiful and challenging. Pace of play was slightly slower then we are used to, but nothing that a couple Presidente beers didn't help with on the 10th hole (included). Mind that you do have to pay a $75 cart fee + $40 for rentals, but you can save 10% if you have premium level, so my whole round was $104, but at probably the nicest course I've played on. Would definitely do that again. There's also putt putt included for free if you want a little fun.

The food was good throughout, and we kept the drinks coming throughout our week stay. Definitely recommend setting reservations on the onsite restaurants, outside of the seafood one.

Overall, we loved our stay and did not want to go back to reality. Between the beautiful beach, incredible staff, and drinks, you'll love the value you get for this place!

We went for a getaway and had a wonderful time. The resort is perfect for a couple, or family to enjoy the beach and many activities offered by the resort. Having the Premium Level upgrade is a must at it allowed more choices from the many restaurants and services available. From check in, dining options and even a special buffet in the Premium Level area it is well worth it.
The A la carte restaurants gave us a good experience to try different things and food presentation was on point, going into a different country should come with certain expectations to food quality for certain items. We did not expect a true North American steak for example and American size portions of food. What was presented to us was a diverse cultural experience with added flair of "American meals".ie sports bar at Strikers, Tepanyaki at Kyoto, Le Gourmet Le Comedie (try the Carpaccio Tuna appetizer) and Dolce Vita all had the comfort atmosphere of what we were used to but with local community base flavours.
The buffets were as what would be expected from an island resort lots of local flavours and a good variety.
Golf course was incredible and very challenging bring your "A" game and extra balls. The common concern we found on these reviews about golf was the "misleading" price tag. This course plays like a $150/round(for 2) for cart fees) at any other course you would attend at home. having that understanding helped make the decision for us justifiable.
Staying at the Beaches side of the resort allowed us the ability to experience the Palace side with ease and comfort.
Our room was comfortable and although it needed to be converted to a giant king it was very clean and comfortable with an amazing ocean front view, A couple minor maintenance issues and yes it could be called dated however it was in theme with where we were, on an island, no snow, and an easily accessible beach from any room.
The pool was very good staff around the pool were always available for drink orders and had a smile on all the time. Bar staff seemed to be more chatty with the coworkers than people standing waiting.
We are already thinking of coming back with our families.

Just returned from a week at Barcelo Bavaro Beach (Adults Section). This side is the older side so if you're picky about your rooms and bathrooms as I am I suggest you book at the Junior Suite Section of the Palace (Family Section). These rooms are much nicer, large, modern and come with a Jacuzzi on the Balcony. The Service was one of the best we've had and we've been to Dominican 7 times. The buffet and specialty restaurants were top notch. I'm pretty picky and I ate my fill and loved all of it. There is a train which takes you from one section to the other. On the Palace side there is a shopping mall (most a bit pricey) a huge theatre with fantastic entertainment (adult side has its own theatre as well), Casino open 24 hrs, Bowling Alley, Mini Golf and a Golf Course. Lots to do for everyone. Beach is private (no vendors) and no employees chasing you to purchase upgrades or time share etc. Internet is not included but I purchased 6 days for $40US and it worked great throughout the entire resort. Special thanks to Manager Daniel for going above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable, to Hector at the Steakhouse and Pablo Metivier at the Buffet. We will for sure be returning.

We paid for premium level but there is no butler. We haven't seen or heard from or about one. Also, don't plan on sleeping in, they do all the yard work before 8 am. Trimmed palm trees one day, mowed the next. Rooms need updated, flimsy wicker dressers,Iron didn't work, hooks for ironing board falling off wall, closet doors extremely hard to slide open/closed. The bed broke from just sitting on it (we are not heavy people). Pool is a snooze. The resort doesn't play any music at the pool. You get one pool towel per person and if you leave them by the pool or beach you are charged for them. Room service is extra $. It is NOT included in the all inclusive package. Half of the staff treat you like an inconvenience. Some are excellent but there aren't enough to outweigh the others. Our friends had to have their room sprayed for ants the second day we were here.

If you stay here request a room on the 3rd floor. I think our upstairs neighbors are a herd of elephants.

WiFi boots you off and you must continually re-enter the password so take it with you.

Restaurants are excellent, buffets are just ok.

The beach is really nice, clean, not super crowded.

The premium level buffet is closed, there are two buffets available for everyone, not all the tables are used (open tables always have utensils already set) because of the social distancing, always there were tables available when my family went to eat (breakfast and lunch) as soon you seat you are offered a drink, you could get room service with not extra charge. We dine at the restaurants making reservations in advance, only the comedie, the fuente, Kioto and México are open, with the first schedule available at 7 pm. Not mask enforced, there are signs advising but is not enforced. Temperature check always before entering the buffets.

If you are worried about crows, you should stay home, or if you still decide to go to a resort, used the beach only because the in pools always there will be people walking around with no masks, specially the locals, not the personal but the local visitor. The pools are kept clean, you’ll always see an employee cleaning looking for empty cups. As I mentioned the beach is mostly empty, the sea weed is cleaned every morning, still not enough to keep the shore weed free but at least they try.

The two water parks are only open weekends, so on a weekday you only choice is the general pool or the beach. The casino is open evenings, the children club is closed, not shows at the theater, most of the bars are open, not trolley car for transportation from one amenity to other, yes you have to walk, it’s not that bad only one block from the farthest location. The bowling alley is open for a extra fee, the wifi is ok just like your carrier at home. The building and landscape is well maintained, shops are open but they are expensive. There is hand sanitizer mostly everywhere you need, like a mention there are signs about social distancing and wearing masks but it’s not enforced, I wore a mask everywhere but the swinging areas, I would say only one third of people wearing masks.

My only complaint would be the loud speakers by rude guesses, that shouldn’t be allowed, specially at the buffet. I mean I understand that people want to enjoy themselves but not everybody likes loud bachata.

My wife and I stayed at the resort the last part of February. Everything was just great from the time we checked in to the time we left. The staff was fantastic and everyone was eager to help when we had any questions. Yes some staff did speak better English than others but that's to be expected. We don't speak but Spanish but we could always communicate what we needed so this was never a problem. The resort is so clean and open and there are people everywhere cleaning.

The food was always good and there are so many choices to choose from during all meals. The dinning staff where very good and always ready to get you what you needed. We did eat at Kyoto Japanese restaurant which was great. We made reservations when we first arrived at the resort but had a very late reservation time . We did go early to the restaurant and ask if there where any openings and they seated us right away which was fantastic. The food was very good and the chef puts on a good show. We also ate at El Coral which was excellent.

Our room was an ocean view with a king bed. The ocean view is just what it says a great ocean view. The king bed is the biggest king bed I have ever seen and no kidding could sleep four people comfortably. It appeared the room had been update recently as everything look new. Our housekeeper Milagro was fantastic. She always had a smile on her face and answered some of the stupid questions we had. The room was always clean with fresh towels and refrigerator stocked. I hope you can tell Milagro what a good person she is and that she does a great job.

The pool area is very nice and the bar staff is always walking around asking if you need anything. The beach is great with plenty of chairs to sit in and people were always cleaning up the seaweed. Overall the resort is very nice and we did not have any problems of any kind. It is a more laid back quiet place so if you want it more lively just walk about 5 minutes over to Barcelo Bavaro Place which is also a great resort.

This is the 2nd time my husband and I have stayed at Barcelo Bavaro. The first was at Barcelo Bavaro Palace with our children and this time at Barcelo Bavaro Beach by ourselves. We loved it when we were here with our children so we returned. Again we were not disappointed by the vast, beautiful beaches and exceptionally beautiful grounds. The landscaping details, lighting and buildings offer a real beach paradise. The food at Caribe and La Brisa buffets for breakfast and lunch were very good. The best part about those 2 restaurants are their open design and proximity to the beach. It was so lovely to eat breakfast and lunch looking over the beach. It is not the best food I've ever had but there is a really good variety and the local dishes especially were really delicious. The a la carte restaurants were excellent! We ate at a different restaurant every night and every meal was wonderful. Having access to the spa as part of the premium package was a huge bonus and we used the steam room, sauna, cold pool/hot tub every day. There are only 2 negatives I will offer. One is that the rooms in the adult only section are very much in need of a renovation. They are clean (except the white curtains are pretty dirty) but the furniture is old and worn and it feels like one step above a motel room. Honestly, we didn't really care because we had a deck that overlooked the ocean and the view was perfect. The other is that is very difficult to find any shade. On the beach the only options are the palm trees which offer limited shade. By the pool, the canopies have so many gaps that the sun shines through so they also don't offer much shade. We made it work but it would be nice if they had some sort of shade cover on the beach and if the canopies around the pool had a solid roof material. Having said all this we really love this resort and would return.

This a huge resort with 2 sections: Family section : The palace and Adults only section : The Barcelo Bavaro Bach section other restaurants of the Palace. Make sure to do reservations early.
Bars
There are only 2 bars in the Adults only section. Lobby and pool bar. It would be awsome if they add another bar with a theme like Hideways sections in Royaltons or the Paradisus adults only do.
Drinks are good nothing more
Go try coffee in the coffee lounge in the Palace section they are very tasty
Service
Almost workers in this resort are friendly and nice. Sometimes you got a bad service but it’s rare and it’s humain : they get tired sometimes because some guests are not respectful so be nice with these workers
I would come back only if it is a good price and no more than 1400$ per person

I tried both of these sections. If you want absolutely a modern room you need an upgrade in the barcelo Beach category of rooms. The superior Room has a fancy name but no fancy reality : old room old design bathroom need improvement, clean overall and very classic and basic, nice partial sea view nothing more. We upgrade to the junior suite and it was really different, modern, very clean and just perfect. The junior suite section was between the two sections of the resort : The palace and the barcelo beach adults only
The Aircanada rep helped us to resolve our problem with the room, we got an nice treatment from Guest Service they were very helpful and we got a nice attention from the manager Sandy, very professional lady perfectly fluent in English also. The day she met us, she was very professional
Beach
This is one of the most beautiful beaches in Bavaro. It has the paradisiaque caraïbe touch. It’s turquoise and calm with no waves sometimes and it’s just perfect in all sens !
Food
Good , nice variety and presentations in buffet and a la carte restaurants are good also , nice stuff, they are very professional and respectful in all restaurant the caraibe Buffet, La Brisa and Chez Gourmet. My favourite was the la Brisa for the view: oceanfront. Chez Goumet is a real à la carte and food was very tasty in a chic decorated atmosphere. Langoustines are included in the menu with no extra charges. You have also acces to almost all the restaurants of the palace
Bars
Only 2 bars in this adults only section
It would be great if they add one with a theme like in Hideway in Royaltons.
Drinks are not bad.
Don’t miss the coffee shop in the Palace !
Service
Workers are very friendly almost the time. Be nice with them they are working hard and some guests are not respectful sometimes.
I would come back if the price is under 1400 per person per week

I don’t know where to begin. It’s Friday night and because of their system of feeding the prisoners they could not, and would not provide ANY food till nearly midnight. No joke.

I say prisoners because to get here you are taken into the middle of nowhere, down a barbed wire lined road to the compound - when you come here you are trapped.

Here’s how it works... they have a series of theme restaurants, some are cavernous, a few are tiny. They expect you, the client, to book a reservation. Fine. But if you do not know to book them before arrival, or upon arrival, they won’t accommodate an absurdly late eating time. They are utterly inflexible, utterly un accommodating, utterly uncaring. If you were to arrive late you will eat, if you are lucky, at their pleasure, on their schedule.

Seasoned travellers, my wife and I asked to see the front desk manager. The person we got was, I just found out, not her (that was, we were told by the operator, one Gisela Bentura). We got a front desk clerk who presented himself under false pretences. He was, to put it mildly, unhelpful.

In his obvious frustration he explained that it was our problem. He was aggressive, and he could not have cared less. He explained that they could never accommodate all their guests within a 6-9pm window. This means that when you are here you effectively compete against the other guests for a meal seating.

It gets better. You will not be seated unless you have a printed receipt that you get at the food reservation centre. Even if you have a reservation... no ticket, no food.

So, you might ask, what about room service? The selection is thin, and best of all, they charge you in US dollars for food. Some all inclusive.

I mean, when you book a place like this the last thing you worry about is getting food, right? But not at Bavaro Beach. We have been to other all inclusives and never had these problems.

I urge you in the strongest terms to go anyplace else.

And we are still hungry.

Visited this hotel early February for a long overdue break.
My husband is disabled and naturally accessible facilities are paramount for a successful trip.
Having researched Punta Cana hotels, the Barcelona Bavaro beach provided all the facilities my husband required.
We checked in tired from our long journey but were not offered a refreshing drink or hot towel as advertised.
Our room was adequate with an accessible wet room. The room was large enough to enable my husband to negotiate his wheelchair with ease.
The only downside was the toilet height was too low, as were all the accessible toilets throughout the resort.
We only used the buffet restaurant for breakfast and light lunches, where the food was varied and typical of these large resorts.
As for the a la carte restaurants the ones at the sister hotel, Bavaro Palace were dreadful. Especially the steak house, where the food was cold and inedible.
The two a la Cartes in the Bavaro Beach were far better.La Brisa in the evening provided good service and a good menu.
Chez Gourmet had an excellent menu and food and service were usually very very good.
As is often the case, the staff make this hotel. That is apart from customer service staff.
There was a fault with one of the accessible toilets throughout or stay, with water leaking through the roof. Having reported this on five separate occasions the fault was not repaired, nor the toilet closed. This is an accident waiting to happen given that the facility is specifically for disabled patrons.
My other niggle is the lack of WiFi. This is only freely available in the casino unless one is prepared to pay. I have never had to pay for WiFi in ANY hotel, this is simply a money spinner.
That being said, the general facilities were good, clean and the magnificent beach is to die for.
Did we enjoy our holiday? Yes, we had a great time.
Would we return to Bavaro Barcelona beach? No, for the above reasons.

The beach has white sound and is pretty clear. It does suffer from a fair degree of seaweed. But it didnt bother us at all. There is no rocky areas. I didnt see anyone surfing (might have to ask for best place to do this.

We stayed in a Premium Ocean Front Suite and that had all toiletries. These were upgraded so I am sure the non-premium rooms have toiletries as well.

Hi! I was in the premier suite and had WiFi. I assume that all areas do but I do not know that for sure. Alcoholic drinks are included. Top shelf booze is not offered at all which was disappointing.
