We stayed at Royalton Bavaro Diamond Club for 7 days in mid-September. Our first room was very musty and probably had not been used for many months. Very bad odor. But they quickly found us an equivalent room in a different building. Top floor overlooking pools and beach area. Perfect! Samuel our butler was great. Contacted us every morning asking if we needed anything. Always made a dinner reservation for us. Our favorite restaurant was the Rio Brazilian Steakhouse. Always sat on the balcony overlooking the ocean. Wonderful! Our least favorite was the Japanese Zen. Felt very rushed. Many courses but they served us our 3rd, for example, when we had barely started our 2nd. I guess they have a schedule to keep but it was not a relaxing enjoyable dining experience. Felt like they wanted to feed us and get us out as quickly as possible. At Rio you had control with the Red/Green puck. Bar service was great but many of the staff were lax about Covid protocols. Most wore their masks over mouth only. Nose not covered. Some wore it on their chin! What a joke. Diamond Club allowed us to upgrade our choice of liquor. Grey Goose vodka for example. My only complaint is with what they call Champagne. My wife was drinking it and said it was the first Champagne that she could drink quite a bit of and not feel "tipsy". I eventually got the bottle and saw that it contained 5% alcohol. Five percent! That's like beer. Not even wine which requires a minimum of 10% to even be called wine. Real Champagne has about 12%. It was available but at extra cost. But overall we really enjoyed our first vacation in 18 months. The grounds were immaculate. The Lazy River was fun. Numerous lounges all with a nice thick pad. Canopy beds were nice as well. Beach area never crowded. Most people seemed to prefer the pools. Busy but not crowded. Swim-up bars were great! Despite what some reviews say, we found the breakfast buffet to be great. Lots of choices. Three omelet stations so never had to wait long to get eggs any way you wanted them. My over-easy eggs were always done to perfection. Made-to-order smoothies. Health foods such as ground flax seed to add to your yogurt or granola. Would we go to this resort again? Yes! Would we recommend it to our friends? Yes! But recommend getting the Diamond Club option. Well worth the few extra dollars.

Was nicer to have the suite but the swim outs are so much better! Food was meh but we were there for the beach so we really didn’t mind so much and the service from Alfredo for the spa was insanely wonderful!

Service people signing people to eat would tell me that they were full and couldn't get me in and that i should go to buffer and when I say I would wait 5 min later somehow they had seats its like they were lying to see if I would fall for it. Also food wasn't that great and they barely had any activities to do. I got bored very easily I had to get out of the resort and find things to do. The drinks were all watered down and cheap liquor was used, I didn't like it. Especially in the pool and beach bars.
