The Carnoustie Ayurveda & Wellness Resort, situated at the Marari beach close to the Alappuzha backwaters, comprises of 40 luxury villas, a traditional Ayurveda Spa, Two Backwater Suite in Muhamma, One Two Bedroom House Boat and a Sailing Club. The villas are designed to reduce energy and water consumption as well as minimize the use of exhaustible materials. The eco-friendly resort ensures that we use materials such as jute, bamboo, recycled cardboard instead of wood, reprocessed plastic and scrap wood. While at the resort, travellers can take lake/ backwater tours to gaze at the gorgeous paddy fields of Alapphuza, try out the early-morning yoga sessions, unwind at the beach, relax at the spa, enjoy performances by local traditional dancers and Kerala’s range of percussion music, try their hand at night fishing, cycle around villages or sail the backwaters and learn a bit of archery.

The treatments, the special meals, Pranic healing, facilities, ocean front beach, Olympic size swimming pool, customer service, unlike anything we’ve experienced in India. Easily comparable to a 3 to 4-star north American resort. Guests are mostly NRIs, eastern and Western European, etc. We loved it, and highly recommend it to anyone.
Very well organized from the daily medical plan to meal plans. Dr Mobi was extremely caring and knowledgeable and her recommendations were easy to understand and implement. Her team, special shout out to Gopi Kumar, the 2 Vishnu’s and Vijin the marma expert were excellent caregivers. The food service team under Joseph Thomas was always available to answer questions and make accommodations within reason and we appreciated it. The management team under Karl and Sandra were always available and very visible to make sure that everything was in top shape on the property. The validation from several other guests who were repeat customers to this resort assured us that we had picked the right treatment resort for us. Thanks to all for the amazing experience.

We had a beautiful experience with the treatment as well as with our stay. With 2 kids the treatment felt so easy as the staff was always there to fulfill all there wishes while we were busy with our treatments.. the housekeeping staff as well as the restaurant staff is very loving and kind. Healthy and hygienic food with beautiful surroundings with so much greenery and of course the beach was like a cherry on the cake.
Dr. Mobi is like a motherly figure who take care of our likes and dislikes and plans our day so effortlessly. Her beautiful smile and so much love for her patients makes our day worth spent.
We loved it here and looking forward to visit soon.
Love,
Villa 801

My 15-day stay and experience at Carnoustie exceeded my expectations. The ambiance, facilities, and the program design combined with the professionalism of Dr Mobi and her skilled team of therapists, the courteous and solicitous restaurant team led by Joseph, the housekeeping team and other levels of operations ensured my well-being at every turn. The healthy diet helped to redefine my relationship with food and showed me what's possible. Definitely a place where one can unwind and reinvigorate the body, mind and spirit! Will certainly be back...

We visited Carnoustie and really enjoyed our stay. There were so many highlights: the chef and staff at Ida restaurant prepared delicious and yet healthy meals - a special call out to Joseph who made each guest feel like royalty. The massage therapists were outstanding - I can’t thank them (Athira, Saranya, Dr Deepthy and Vishnu) enough for making us feel like a million bucks! Thanks also to the management team (Karl) - you have built an amazing team!

Every single member of the Carnoustie team has a warm smile, always incredibly attentive and anticipates the needs of each guest - the service is just exceptional!

The property is calming and beautiful - each generous sized villa is tastefully decorated with all the modern comforts, near a private beach, it is set amongst the most lush, colourful tropical garden and has a massive pool (plus a plunge pool in some villas).

We left Carnoustie feeling well rested, healthier, relaxed and in a positive frame of mind. I would recommend this wellness resort and piece of paradise, to my family and friends.

Absolutely gem of a place.
Ganeesh, the manager, made sure everything is well taken care of, in due time. Always smiling and polite.
Dr Mobi, pure magician. She healed me in ways I wasn’t even aware.
The girls, Aishwara, Divya,
Dr Moly, Dr Shona, Surya - a special thank you for all the procedures.
Dr Raj , 80 year old yogi, sitting in a full split in front you :) Gopi, very good and relaxing, opening sequences and pranayama.
Joseph and his team, and the chef, in the kitchen make wonders. The food was always so tasty, and even though the first few days the portions weren’t “big”, very satisfying.
Overall the experience was a blessing and will return.
Lost kgs, lost toxins, and gained a lot of rejuvenation. I feel amazing, like new.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
You can see the owners scroll through the gardens many times to ensure everything is neat. Beach is beautiful!

We stayed end March/ April 2024. My husband is a lawyer who works long hours and I’m a retired lawyer and have had an illness that leaves me with neurological pain.

We were very excited to be coming here, although on balance we would probably not return.

On the positive side:

Within a short time of arrival we had a consultation with Dr Simsy who was wonderfully professional and very quickly assessed our required treatments and devised our programmes; rejuvenation for me and weight loss for my husband.

My treatments were from Dr Deepthy ( marma), Athika, PT and Chinna ( ayervedic massage) - truly first rate- and my husband had Deepu ( ayervedic) and Anu ( marma) who again were first rate. I thought I had gone to heaven with their healing hands and the treatments really helped my post- stroke pain.

The food was delicious, with varied menu printouts every day and although my husband was on a weight loss programme he was always fully satisfied.

Compliments to Joseph and his team who also laid on a memorable evening for us prior to our departure.

I have saved my biggest thank you for our Yoga teacher Anoop. We did Yoga every day and Anoop was truly excellent, he was forever encouraging and he helped me to do postures that I didn’t think I could do with his teaching, empathy and understanding. He has helped my post stroke pain considerably.

On the negative side:

we recommend that the owner addresses the manner in which senior management deal with clients and resort staff.

Our Villa and Spa areas need building maintenance work.

Stray dogs from the beach interrupted our outdoor morning yoga and often visited the complex from the beach leaving faeces on the paths within the resort. This is obviously not pleasant from a health and safety perspective ( especially given risk of rabies) so we couldn’t understand why this wasn’t prevented. We raised this with management although the responses were unsatisfactory.

My pranic treatments were unpleasant and left me exhausted.

As a tip: don’t leave tips in the central boxes and ask reception for an envelope to ensure that your intended recipient can receive your gratitude.

My first experience and I'm thrilled! Very attentive and friendly clinic staff, surrounded by care and attention. Wonderful, smiling guys served at the restaurant and did everything to make us feel good and comfortable. The room is clean, comfortable. Treatments throughout the day are scheduled in advance, and time can be scheduled. I've been very impressed with the clinic and would like to come back.

15 days were very enjoyable. I think the reviews are largely accurate. This is a resort being restored to it's former glorious self and to images on the website. They are trying to do what few places do, combine ayurvedic clinic and resort facilities. They do it very well. This is a mild ayurvedic experience, very nice for those trying for the first time. Like other reviewers, I enjoyed the spa treatments and the care the Drs took. I also found the food offered by Chef Ashok and team to be fantastic. Tasty, filling and healthy. The cooking demo offered by Ass Chef Rajiv was also great. The restaurant manager, Joseph and team, worked hard to ensure each guest's individual requirements were met. Most guests seemed pretty demanding and all staff seemed very keen to do their best to deliver. The grounds are continuing to need upkeep (well covered in the reviews) however each individual room/villa is private and set in a truly beautiful tropical garden. 14 days is the optimal time to get the full benefit. I had no personal recommendations about the place. I'm so pleased I found it online. I met some wonderful people and would definitely return. A big thank you to all the staff.

Never ever visited a pool villa so unclean, unmaintained and broken… children had injuries due to the pool tile not properly maintained and broken pool deck. Food was horrible that we purchased local fish had to ask them to try for us. Prawns was served with loads of salt and we were asked to adjust by having it with cucumber. Breakfasts which was complimentary had to be ordered the prior night of it was not dosa. No buffets for breakfast.

Pathways had no lights during night and even after several complaints it was not rectified. Staff shortage was noted and no one knew anything about the resort.

No consideration was given to senior citizens , leave alone youngsters. Okay

There were no life guards on the so called private beach area… the beach chairs were infested with worms and flies due to under- maintenance. We had to buy beach chairs to sit near beach area.

When we raised any complaints, right from the staffs to management they were making lame excuses like they just joined or the cook was new etc etc..

Even after repeated requests of keeping the property neat and tidy even before checking in, they hardly looked into the matter.

To make things worse, we waited for more than 45 minutes for the breakfast to be served even after confirming the order the night before.

Everything felt NOT RIGHT!!!!

The only appreciation, I would mention would be that they cooked the fish (sardine) that we bought with our own money.

This was an amazing experience. Dr mobi was very intelligent and caring. The staff, specifically Vijin, Vishnu, and Ajay were incredible. Mr. Anoop was a great yoga and meditation instructor, with plenty of jokes to keep us engaged at 7am. The kitchen staff was great and accommodate my son’s peanut and tree nut allergy extremely well.
