We had a fantastic stay with Thomas and his family. Great bungalows set in a beautiful garden with uninterrupted volcano views, excellent home cooked meals, and a very much appreciated recommendation to visit Port Resolution! You are literally across the road from the volcano - watch the smoke glow red as the sun sets, listen to the rumble of explosions in the crater all night, and watch for bright red-orange molten rock thrown up above the crater rim, all from your bungalow or the attached restaurant. Top notch hospitality: Thomas and his family made us feel extremely welcome, and the airport pick up/drop off in town was very much appreciated!! This is an absolutely top spot to stay - highly recommended!!

My Partner and I stayed 2 nights at Thomas' lodge. We would have loved to stay longer. His family has welcomed us beyond expectactions and there are no words to describe the genuine moments we had with them. Here are a few details about what made it so great. First, when we arrived, Thomas offered to stay in a lodge instead of our camping tent as he had availability and wanted to make sure we were comfortable. No need to say that this is very generous of him and no one should stay there with the hope to be upgraded! His wife, gently shared some of the kids dinner with us so that we could try the famous laplap. Their kids spent some time with us to explore the village. Thomas organised for us a night with the kids to watch a movie. Thomas' cousin sat with us for two hours in the garden to share his culture and we had a very deep conversation about tradition and the way we live. Because we spent so much time with the family, the trip was way more than a visit of Tanna and the volcano, it became a real human experience. We got lucky to learn how to make leaves basket, how to cut coconuts and how to cook traditional meals. We loved them and we have already recommended friends to visit Thomas. I also wanted to say that Thomas has redone the garden and the lodge after the cyclone two years ago and it is beautiful to see. You will definitely enjoy how clean and pretty it is. All the best PS: We know that a few people get confused with another lodge that has a similar name (but definitelly not the same recommendations) so to avoid confusion, here is Thomas' email if you wish to get in touch with him yasurviewlodge@gmail.com

This is a once in a lifetime experience. Firstly to stay in a true tree house with a view over the worlds most accessible live volcano. Then to experience an evening on this unbelievable live volcano was fantastic. Thomas and his family did a great job of cooking the meals and looking after us over the 2 days.

Room Tip: if going to the volcano at night, take warm clothes in a backpack as it gets cold and windy on...

The Yasur view lodge at Thomas and Janet is truly the most amazing place you could imagine. I camped here for 7 nights and had a very hard time leaving. From the campsite (or the nice bungalows or amazing treehouse) the Yasur volcano is allways in sight. Day and night you hear and see the volcano in all its glory. The extrance to the volcano is right opposite the place. A very good breakfast is included and at night I enjoyed fresh organic island food from the restaurant. Where in the world can you see lava explosions at night while enjoying your meal? The place is very silent and peaceful and local villages are closeby so beautiful encounters and cultural insights are ensured. Thomas and Janet and the family are all so friendly and welcoming. They know everything about the region and Thomas is happy to provide transport to any place on the island. Truly a very unique place! Thanks for everything Thomas and Janet and co! See you next time, Freddy (frederik), Belgium
