Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very basic hotel!! Far from the centre but thats not a issue...if you have legs, use them for 10-15minutes!! The problem was the cold inside the room (even with portable heaters) and coooooollld water!! We were the only room....so dark cause its still under construction I believe....I feel like was in a thriller movie...lol The breakfast was ok although bread was really old!! The staff was ok....good wifi and value.

I stayed one night at Cilos Hotel in Salar de Uyuni. Upon arrival I was unsatisfied to note that the double room I had booked which had 3 beds in the bedroom only had the apparent capacity for one guest. This meant that we had to pay extra to have another person in the room despite there being a spare bed. I believe this was false advertising on the hotels behalf. Furthermore the photos of the hotel on their website look nothing like the hotel as it is in reality. The hotel is under construction and is dusty, dirty and unsafe. This was also bad for my allergies and the construction meant it was impossible to sleep. We would have liked to have been informed of this before booking with them. The hotel also did not have any of the facilities it claimed to have. There was no games room, heating, hot showers or shared kitchen. The hot water was only put on for a few hours a day however was only hot for 5 minutes. We had to ask the receptionist to turn the hot water on, despite it being within the designated hot water times. She refused to turn it on. Upon noticing that there was a kitchen, we asked the receptionist to use it as a shared kitchen was stated within the hotels facilities. She refused to let us use the kitchen and was very rude and aggressive towards us. She said she didn't want us to waste the gas in the kitchen. There was no heating to be seen within the rooms nor hot water. The breakfast was also cold and very basic. We tried to talk with them reasonably and ask for a reduction in price or a refund at best because of the horrible experience we had and she refused. They also called in other men who were not from the hotel as a means of intimidation when we tried to complain. I have never had such a bad experience and believe they have violated many policies in regards to misleading advertising and a lack of stated facilities. Please avoid this place by all means. Absolutely disgusting customer service.

Just left the hotel. Not really impressed. Pros 1) staff was nice 2) room wasn't expensive 3) got to leave luggage after check out 4) comfortable bed to sleep in Cons 1) location is a bit off track 2) rooms were freezing, had to ask for a heater [$5 USD] 3) no hot water in the morning despite a notice in the lobby saying it would be from 8am-12am 4) wifi password is in the lobby and easy to miss 5) got to leave luggage..said we would be back at 17:00. We were there at 17:00 sharp, had to ring the doorbell numerous times. Owner was NOT on the property, the construction workers let us in AND the lobby was locked. We had to find a window to open and get our stuff. Very unprofessional. If you want to stay here, do not leave your luggage while you wander around the town.

We stayed here for 1 night before doing the salt flats tour. Good points: -our bus to uyuni arrived very early (5am) and the hotel let us check in with no problems even though we only paid for the night from 12pm. -wifi was excellent -we got film channels in the room -breakfast was very good (yogurt, cereal, bananas, bread, eggs, jam, butter, coffee, juice) Bad points: -We could only use the shower between 8am-12pm -the tap in the bathroom didn't work -they were having construction work done at the hotel which made outside the rooms very dirty with lots of rubble -the workmen were very noisy starting from 8:30am. Take ear plugs if you like to take a nap in the afternoon or sleep later than 830am -the bed sheets were so heavy that they fell off during the night waking you up pretty abruptly

Room clean on arrival. No domestic service while we were there. Showers cold, along with the breakfast.Reception staff less than willing to hear any complaints. Very dusty trek into town and at present the the Hotel looks like a building site.

Room was comfy, and great wifi. Shower also good. Breakfast pretty tasty but hard to work out where to get it from! This was one of very few options online before we arrived in Uyuni, it's actually really far out so you have to spend quite a lot on taxis to go back into town for dinner etc. I'd recommend just turning up and finding a room in the centre instead, certainly off season anyway.

Great little place for a short stay whilst visiting the Salt Flats. Family-run, and a lovely family at that. They were exceptionally friendly, and helpful with all our requirements. They had puppies whilst we were there too, which was a great touch. Wi-Fi was exceptionally quick too, not even just for Bolivia, just generally. Although the power did come off in the morning.

The location is both good and bad. Quiet with the occasional truck going by but far away from any food. The showers are nice and hot when the owner allows you to shower. The water was turned off on a " one shower and one breakfast only per day " basis but not everybody had had a chance to shower by 8.30am . The water is apparently hot from 8am to 10pm - this was not true for us 8 guests ( all of us of which had to take cold showers before our 3 day / 2 day trip . The owner disappears all day and so he is no use for anything .. Particularly taxis into town if you feel unsafe to walk alone at night or even toilet tissue . The breakfast was ok but the eggs were off. Having seen the hygiene levels in the kitchen , I didn't want to eat any more stale bread and badly stored food products . The Internet was strong when it worked , though very intermittent . The bed was comfortable and the cable TV worked in the second room we were put in . The front door / gate is left open all day with no staff on site , not secure at all . I wouldn't chose to stay here again but it's cheaper than the others online . Would recommend getting to town and finding accomodation by foot .

We wanted a few nights stay somewhere quiet following our salt flats tour so we're prepared to stay somewhere out of town. The hotel is still an easy walk to the centre and was very quiet when we were there. The owner was often out and when both ourselves and other guests arrived there was no one around to check anyone in or even open the gates. We were unable to buy water from the hotel which was a problem when the closest shop was a walk away. The place itself is fine but the rooms are freezing. On the plus the wifi reached our room and the breakfast was great.

Just outside of the centre of Uyuni, Cilos is perfect for a short stay. The staff go above and beyond to make sure they can help with tours and anything required. The room is fairly basic, but they provide plenty of blankets for warmth and offer portable heaters if you need. The bathroom is average, and the hot water is temperamental. But I'd stay again.
