Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We stayed at La Cabaña the night before and after our salt flats tour. The building was cold (its Uyuni, duh...) but there were plenty of blankets on the bed to curl up under.

The staff at reception spoke some English and were pretty friendly to us, I don't whether its changed hands since all of its 1* reviews were written or they've taken note but we overall had a decent enough time for the price.

It's cheap and cheerful, nothing special but the people calling it the worst place in South America have been living a charmed life because this certainly isn't it.

As many of the other reviewers have mentioned, this place is not good. I paid Bs35 for a bed in a 13-bed room. The bed was very hard with very flat pillows. The showers are only available from 5-10pm and ?8-11am. There is no toilet paper provided. Breakfast is not included for the dorm room price though WiFi password was.
Also, there is a karaoke bar attached to it and it was extremely noisy for most of the night.
We only stayed here as the people we were traveling with were not able to afford anything more expensive...

I'm not sure what people expect for this price, Hotel was cheap and I didn't expect any special comfort, as in Uyuni can be very cold overnight , I don't think other cheap hostel would have heater in the room... I stayed in single room, with single bed and TV, I slept well overnight, in the room was very cold, but I had a lot of blankets and didn't feel cold, share bathroom wasn't in brilliant condition however water was hot, and to be honest that was the best shower I had during my 10 days stay in Bolivia, water was hot ! ;) Staff wasn't super polite but I didn't have any problems.

Super rude staff, uncomfortable beds, one electric plug in a dorm of 8, dirty bathrooms, no natural light, overcrowded dorm...

They'll annoy you every morning to pay even if you're sleeping and it's not even check out time.

It feels you are like their enemy instead of their clients, when you check out and your bus is late night they won't let you use their wifi or even the bathroom, we felt like criminals, never saw a nice gest or a smile from them...

It's cheap but the installations are quite poor and I'll happily pay some more and stay with nicer people.

If the rooms were 30bs a person i would understand. You get what you pay for. Showed up in the morning because our bus was early. He wanted to charge us double for a bunk bed room that wasnt even ours. We had to pay half. They made us pay for breakfast our first morning bc we only paid for a “half night”. Our total for two for ONE NIGHT was 162Bs. It wasnt even worth 60. Just read all the other 1 star reviews to understand why.!

As many have noted, service is super rude, price is clearly not that cheap, 80 for a double room even when checking in at 4am, started bothering me to check out at 9h30, breakfast not even Included in that price. 80bs for 4 hours?

There is a karaoke bar next door and the music was still going on strong at 4 in the morning, with the walls shaking along.

Starting 6h30 the place wakes up and becomes unbearable with noise and lineups ( there are one toilet per floor, including dorm level so lineups of 5-6 people formed in front of showers, owners put tv on very quickly too and the hotel is completely overcrowded with yells, chants and is very echo.

Shared kithen is tiny and you need a key to use it. Rooms were cold, there was an extra 20bs/ night to heat them and blankets were insufficient to compensate.

WiFi did not work on my phone although it reportedly did for others, staff wouldnt give the password to use with laptop since I had already registered one device.

Moved one door away to the wara del salar hotel, same price, staff very friendly, common area to meet others, shared kitchen, will write a review later on.

I stayed two nights: one with friends before our Uyuni tour (four-bed dorm) and another solo after the tour (private one-bed room). We were recommended this place by the tour agency we went with. The place is cheap (50 bs./night) and doesn't look fancy at all, but at least it's reasonably clean. Hot showers and are only available 5-10pm and 8-11am. Wi-fi is good, but they turn it off after 10pm too. An ok breakfast is included. The place is quiet and centrally located. All in all, an ok residencial for a night or two if you're on a budget.

Yea don't go here if you can avoid it. It's not expensive but there are plenty of better places on offer.

Toilet paper isn't included the rooms are pretty dark and they don't exactly care for being quiet.

Chances are you're like me and reading all the reviews after you've stayed there. My condolences!
