Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stay away at all costs. During breakfast i returned to my room and found the maid in my bag with my passport and cash wallet in her hand - literally caught red handed. When we reported the incident to the manager but insisted we did not want to report the incident to the police as we didn’t want the hassle and had a salt flat tour leaving that day, the manager started to insist we must be lying (apparently the maid was looking through my passport wallet to ‘see if i had taken anything out of the mini bar’ according to the manager - can’t make stuff like this up!) and called the police anyway. Other guests at the hotel breakfast then reported similar troubling issues. The manager even tried to physically bar our exit of the hotel. We left uyuni without doing our salt flat tour which we had paid for as we felt so unsafe and had looked forward to. Stay away at all costs. Ruined our bolivia experience.

This hotel charges 10% to use a credit card, which they don't tell you about at the time of booking. They can kiss my grits. Also, we tried three times in the days head of our arrival to contact this hotel and never one receive a response.

My wife and I spent one night at Hotel Boutique Atipax on a trip to Salar de Uyuni and South Bolivia desert. We liked the hotel although location is quite odd. Completely outside city center (walking to it takes a bit of time), in a kind of no man's land, along the railway to Chile and facing a health care facility location is in fact inconvenient. However, Hotel Boutique Atipax as several points in its favour. Our room (number 102) was very spacious and nicely decorated. Decoration relies on local items such as salt blocks for the bed basis. It is well appointed with a flat screen TV, a small fridge and a kettle. Bathroom is relatively spacious but access to the tub/shower can be an issue for elderly or disabled persons. Shower stream is also problematic as it lacks strength and distance. I also noted that some room items are showing signs of early wear. Management should pay attention to it. Breakfast is served on the first floor. No issue with it as it offers a reasonable variety of options. As we faced an emergency situation and had to cancel the second night management agreed not to charge it although it was non-cancellable as per Expedia conditions. This is worth noting. I do not hesitate to recommend Hotel Boutique Atipax for a stay in Uyuni.

Lovely hotel! My room is spotless and clean. Do not listen to the negative reviews before, I have no idea what they were talking about. Anyway, my room has a truly luxurious feel to it with great inspiring decor and amazing design and great bed. Bathroom is super clean. Wifi is fast, faster than the Palacio de Sal Hotel which I visited before coming to this hotel. And finally, the hospitality is top notch. The owner is great!

Big beautiful rooms with double comfortable beds, with private bathrooms. Breakfast was plentiful and varied. Eggs to order. Great yogurt. The orange juice was natural and sweet. Jose, the manager, was incredibly nice and tended to all our whims. He also organized our 3 day expedition to the Park Reserves with Joker Expeditions and a special marriage proposal setting at the Salar with professional photographers. He even advanced bolivianos to pay for the park entries and I refunded him later!! And the prices unbelievable. Jose also managed to have our covid tests done at the hotel, at night and our transfers to and from Oruro airport

Our stay at Atipax Uyuni was exceptional. We were greeted with a warm breakfast, showers and very nice staff. Our rooms were stunning with salt back drops and the beds were really comfortable. To add to the experience the staff washed our clothes plus free taxi ride back to the airport and Bolivia chocolates and free bottle of wine. Highly recommend Atipax Uyuni 5 star! Thank you 🙏🏽

I can’t understand what happened!?? We had a reservation made through Expedia. We arrived from the airport in a taxi @ 2:30 in the afternoon. The door to the hotel was locked, so I rang the bell. The driver was waiting. No answer, so, I rang again. Waiting...no answer, taxi waiting. I rang again...again no answer. It’s probably 5 minutes since we arrived at the hotel (with door locked) & the taxi driver is getting ready to leave. I didn’t want to be left on the sidewalk with nowhere to stay, so I knocked on the door. Well, this time there was an answer, the gentleman (owner I assume), opened the door & aggressively told me I was making too much noise. I shot back that I wouldn’t have had to make ‘noise’ if the door wasn’t locked or if he answered before. He shot back that I should have informed them in advance when I would arrive? I told him there was no way to do that through Expedia & maybe he could just answer the bell. I don’t know what his problem was, but he refused to allow us in to the hotel & told us to get back in the taxi & go somewhere else. Wtf??? The taxi driver was dumbfounded, I was aghast & my partner was upset too!! We were in Uyuni now with no place to go. We didn’t have data or any way to look for another place, so we got the driver to drop us at a restaurant with WiFi & we did find a place to stay (Casa de Sel...awesome btw!!) & everything turned out ok. We picked the Atipax Boutique Hotel because of the good reviews, but this is proof the there are exceptions to everything. This guy sent us off with nowhere to stay. Wtf!?!? Luckily we found another place. Unbelievable treatment! We’ve traveled (& booked through Expedia) throughout SE Asia, Japan, China, Australia, NZ, Europe, Canada, USA & now we’re working our way through South America (not bragging, just giving background) & we’ve never experienced anything remotely close to this. I say again UNBELIEVABLE!!!

We had a lovely stay here. Cozy beds, hot showers and great rooms. Service is also very good. I was surprised to read the negative reviews. Nothing bad to say- except the location is not great, far from the main square.
