The receptionist was very unfriendly. We had a double room ensuite which was simple but ok. The bathroom was a bit dirty. The wifi was very poor. The price is quite cheap for the rooms.
The location is ok, you can easily walk from the bus terminal.

***100Bs for a double room with a private bathroom (no breakfast).

As everybody has said Uyuni is not a great place and the hostels/hotels match that description. I wandered around Uyuni and I didn't find anywhere great to stay. I only stayed at Hotel Avenida because it was one of the only addresses I had written down.

Firstly you should know that this is definitely not a hotel, it's more like a motel. All the rooms open out onto outside, making the room absolutely FREEZING (there is no heater). So, if you want to stay somewhere warmer, with inside rooms which don't open onto outside, don't stay here.

It is very basic. The bed was ok and there were about 3 alpaca blankets. There is a TV with cable which was a nice extra.

The shower was surprisingly hot so I did manage to have a good shower to warm up.

The hostel was well located, right around the corner from the main square.

It doesn't have a kitchen which was a downer as the restaurants in Uyuni are terrible and the service is horrendous. Do not eat at the Mexican restaurant. It took an hour to get my meal and I didn't get what I ordered plus the waitresses were not nice.

I arrived in Uyuni late afternoon, got a room here, walked around a million tour shops, booked a trip, then went on a 2 day salt flats tour the next day. I didn't have to stay here again as I managed to get a night train to Tupiza on the day my salt flats tour ended.

I booked my salt flats tour with Ripley Tours. It wasn't a great tour, quite rushed and a useless guide BUT the salt flats are so incredible it didn't ruin my experience. Also all the tours seem to be exactly the same.

(I stayed here at the end of August 2011)

Low-cost but really great value btw Price / Quality. There are hot showers, cable TV, clean room, toilet paper, towels and there are rooms from 9$us w/ private bathroom. First time here and the receptionist was super friendly.

If you ever wanted to know how staying in a prison cell must feel like, this is your chance. At the Avenida you'll get a freezing cold, dark room with walls that are plastered with cardboard and sexy calendars to cover all the fungi. Your private bathroom has a constant and very strong smell of someone elses urin - probably inspired by the scent of Bolivian public bathrooms. To top everything off there's also a shower that might just give you a nice little electric shock. But then at least you'll feel warm, right?

The room are clean and comfortable. In the vicinity of hotel many restaurants, souvenir shops and travel agencies can be found.
We can not express our gratitude to the owners; they were a great help when we had health problems.
Please do not hesitate to book this hotel.

Though it didn't seem like much at first, being a no-frills type of place, it turned out to be just what I needed. It's quiet, clean, and the staff is friendly, responsive and helpful. It's also a fraction the price of most hotels in the area. I keep adding more and more nights, not ready to leave. I highly recommend this place!

We stayed in a double room with private bathroom after returning from the salt flats. The room was spacious and clean and the beds had enough blankets to keep us warm at night. The rooms at the back didn't get that cold because of the ceiling above the patio. No breakfast served here.

Great location in Uyuni, just across from the train station and close to loads of tour agencies. We got a private ensuite with twin beds, it was spacious and clean. Hot water in the shower. Really, we couldn't ask for more! Simple but effective. The wi-fi signal did not reach well to the room but was OK at reception. We paid 140 bolivianos for the night - about 20 US dollars.

I moved here from the very overpriced and loud Oro Blanco across the street for one third of the price. This place is a true backpacker's hostel and it is friendly and comfortable. There is a common sitting room in its lobby that has great wifi and is a good place to speak with other travelers. Rooms are comfortable and have hot water. There are options for really inexpensive rooms without a private bathroom and rooms with a private bathroom are around eleven dollars. A great value. The overpriced hotel next door charges nearly $30 for the same thing. Highly recommend this place if one is on a budget or simply doesn't want to be charged hotel prices for a hostel across the street and next door. Also it is right next to the Avenida Acre and the yummy Camel Restaurant.

Stayed here one night while waiting for my Uyuni tour. The place is clean and all rooms are affordably priced despite being private rooms. This is probably the best value for money accommodation in town. The bathrooms are also clean, although there only seems to be one or two showers and hot water is unavailable after 8 or 9pm which means that you might miss out on hot water if you don't get in early. Wifi was alright as well (by Bolivian standards) and seemed to work in all rooms.

There was construction going on there in October 2014 as they seemed to be building another block of rooms which was a little noisy, but doesn't affect your sleep as they don't work through the night and only come back at about 9 in the morning.
