3rd visit to this hotel, first since lockdown eased.
Rooms are fairly basic but very fit for purpose. No hairdryer, which I forgot but I'm sure if I'd asked one would have been provided.
We had dog friendly room situated on side of hotel so no view except of carpark and bins, however as we only slept in there it wasn't an issue for us and proved to be much cooler with direct doggy access on the side.
Daughter had big family room with huge window overlooking the sea was really nice and we spent the last hour of each evening in there people watching.
We had half board and breakfasts were lovely, full Welsh etc. Not a bad choice for evening menu but I would avoid the orange liqueur Pate and mushroom starters. Both myself and daughter tried these and we weren't impressed. Having said that the rest of the menu was really good ,we all had fish and chips on the Friday and the portions were huge. Service, for us at least, was great. The table next to ours waited nearly 40 minutes for their starter to arrive so maybe it can be hit and miss at busy times.
As it was daughters birthday, the hotel very kindly stored a bday cake for us and bought it out after our mains. They even put up a banner for us.
This is a very dog friendly hotel so if dogs aren't your thing I would avoid but if they are I can't recommend it highly enough. You can even eat your meals with your dog in the bar area if you don't like to leave in the room.
The location, right opposite the quieter part of Barmouth beach, can't be faulted. Their beer garden is very popular and a great place to watch the sun set.

We recently stayed for 4 nights. (2nd visit to hotel). It is situated right on the sea front and has lovely views. This time we splashed out on a seaview room at the front of the hotel. It has a large window with a couple of armchairs so you can sit and look at the fantastic views. The carpet looked new, however the pillows were like pancakes and my husband found the double bed too hard. You had tea making facilities in the room which was restocked daily. If you are tall or large you might struggle with the toilet has it is very close to the wall in front.. I have stayed in better rooms for less money. The cleaner needs to have lessons in cleaning, the skirting boards had thick dust on them and the floor in the bathroom was dusty. I was most concerned though that the bedside lamps were covered in thick dust where you touched as with covid still about it made me wonder how the rest of the room had been done. The fried breakfast was freshly cooked. The staff came to take your order and I feel a “good morning” would have been nice. We had evening meal the first night, I had chicken curry which tasted homemade and was lovely, although overpriced. I have to agree with the other comments about some of the staff, you did feel at times that you shouldn’t be there, although they did seem to be rushed off their feet. I noticed that on the last morning one of the staff at breakfast was talking to various people which hadn’t happened before, not sure if this was because it was quiet or because what I now know to be one of the owners was there! Will probably stay again as in excellent location.

What a shame. What was once a stunning hotel is now a dirty, dismal, unapologetic disgrace. We didn't even have a working shower (larger sea front room) The owner suggested I wash my long hair in the tiny sink as they did in the old days! On arrival, our room was laced with dog hair so we had the misfortune of a cleaner disrupting our stay to hoover; should this not have been done before we arrived?! When I complained about the dirt and dust I was promised a "deep clean" if we vacated our room. Ha! The room was no different. The owner simply blamed her teenage staff and said that they were "cutting corners" Why was she not checking? I had actually asked the cleaner to get the manager for me to discuss such poor hygiene, particularly during the current pandemic. When she failed to come and see me I found her soaking up the sun, drinking in the beer garden with clearly no concern for her guests. Quite embarrassingly now to admit, we were married here in 2004, we loved this place and it was carved in our hearts with pride. Now, this is ruined, due to nonchalant attitudes; particularly that of Faith, the manager, and the greed of the owner. We did have the cost of one night refunded (£110 per night) due to the abysmal room but still, with no edible breakfast, no washing facilities and the abundance of dust and germs this did nothing to compensate the experience. The money was never the issue, our health, safety and memory was what was important to us and the Min Y Mor have failed magnificently, truly tragic. Their complacency is truly apparent and it appears that they believe that beautiful Barmouth alone will continue to sell their hotel.

+1
Probably not the cheapest option for staying in Barmouth, but it’s nice enough, really close to the town, and has free parking. It’s directly opposite the beach and a lot of rooms have sea views, even some of the side rooms.
The breakfast, which is included with the price of the stay is pretty decent, with the option to have cereals, croissants, and a full Welsh breakfast. The hotel is also dog friendly and you can bring your dog to breakfast/ lunch/ dinner/ if you sit in the bar area.
The dinner menu isn’t huge but has a few decent options, if you don’t fancy walking into Barmouth town. I’m a fussy eater and although there wasn’t anything I fancied on the mains, I chose a starter and chips which made a good sized meal so that’s always an option if you’re also a picky eater.

We arrived as a group of motorcyclists; I had pre booked a single room, with on suite at £64/nightThe room was in the roof. No other window other than a top skylight.
The shower didn’t work, other than a dribble.
The noise from a air or freezer conditioning unit buzzed on and off all night, keeping me awake.
It was on the web site as from £60 so I took the issue up on leaving and thought I had got a slight discount but in fact was still short changed. It wasn’t so much the agreed costing but the manner of the service and lack of understanding or politeness.
On another issue, the Friday night I was short changed at the bar. It wasn’t much but it’s the principal of the thing.
The issue with the room was excused by the receptionist, saying we have had no income from the lockdown.
Breakfasts were a delight, staff polite, food plentiful, hot and tasty. The morning staff were lovely and are well mannered.
As I was late for dinner one night, I missed my designated starter, there was no apology. The excuse was all starters were given out, well someone had mine then. No effort in getting another starter rustled up. Otherwise the meals were satisfactory and tasty.
Can’t say I will stop there ever again, especially after the rudeness of being misgendered at reception on leaving, with again no apology made.

Well.... so a member of my family booked 3 weeks ago yet as soon as I got there our booking wasn’t down, they then decided to put us in the restaurant for the hotel guest which can only be described as an old people home, we then browsed the menu and then realised there was very limited amount of food and pretty much no vegetarian options, with a price of about £15 a meal. by this time we had ordered drinks, our family of five then got up and proceeded to leave but was met with our drinks, we quickly drank them and went to The royal which has better meals, better drinks and a much better price range. So I say ditch this place and go the royal, trust me you won’t be disappointed.

We booked bed, breakfast & evening meal for 36 friends participating in a charity cycle ride in this beautiful part of Wales. The hotel management and reception were extremely friendly and accommodating for our needs and nothing was too much trouble. We couldn’t fault the service we had. All staff extremely helpful and friendly. Rooms were clean and comfortable and the food served to us was wholesome and plentiful, well presented and tasty. Will come back again. Thank you Min y Mor for a memorable stay😁

We stayed here for five nights and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. Our room overlooked the beach at the front of the hotel and we loved watching the early-morning dog walkers on the beach! Our room was spacious and well equipped. The only thing missing was a hair dryer but this is available at reception. The staff were, without exception friendly and very helpful. Our meals were well prepared and tasty and the menu catered for myself as a vegetarian. The bed was very comfortable and the room was very quiet. We most definitely will be staying here again. Thoroughly recommended!!

Amazing location, directly on the beautiful Barmouth beach. Not overly busy, super comfy beds, clean rooms and hotel. Could do with a little tlc but everything that has been done is lovely. Tasteful interiors in rooms and hotel. My only suggestion would be that all rooms have showers, we had 2 rooms but only one had a shower. Shower could have been more powerful too but that was my only negative. We booked via Booking.com and had requested 1 double room and 1 twin room (travelled with teenage children. Questioned at reception and receptionist mentioned as we'd booked with expedia this was why we had 2 doubles as no choice to request a double and a twin. Still dont understand this and as they were full no option to swop. Check your bookings peeps!

No hairdryer but I understand you can request one.
Yes there are toiletries, nothing to write home about but a basic body wash and a basic shampoo and some soap.
Hi Amanda
Best contact the hotel directly :)
Hi , yes we do allow dogs in several of our rooms and in the bar area. The only place dogs can't go is the Bistro or restaurant.
Thanks
