My partner and I stayed at Skylark for 2 nights in July on our NC500 trip and we couldn't fault the place. We'd stayed in a few different B&B's on route by this point and had felt really disappointed by the standard of accommodation provided in a few different places for what we'd paid. This was the total opposite and a welcome retreat. The bedroom was huge with a massive bed so we both slept really well. The en-suite bathroom was also a great size and the shower was brilliant, which hadn't been our experience in other B&B's on route. Everything was spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated too. When we first arrived in our room, Pauline had left a dram of whiskey in a decanter for us with 2 glasses - we were both so touched by this gesture and it was much appreciated. She also provided fresh milk in the room for our tea and coffee - these small details don't cost much but made a big difference to us. The breakfast in the morning was fantastic. Pauline had put together a menu of a few different options and you couldn't have gotten a better breakfast anywhere. There was also fresh fruit and yoghurts, as well as freshly brewed coffee or tea if preferred and juices etc. We really enjoyed chatting with Pauline while we were there. She is one of the loveliest hosts we've ever met and so genuine. I think she just understands what her guests want and does a brilliant job at providing this. Pauline chatted about how she just has the 2 bedrooms and she doesn't want to be greedy and try to make more (I hope she doesn't mind me repeating this). This was something that makes Skylark such a great place to stay. We'd stayed in another B&B where the host had seemingly crammed as many people into an old house as she could, resulting in us not sleeping a wink due to the noise in the surrounding bedrooms. Thank you for a fantastic stay - the biggest asset Skylark has is definitely Pauline - she is brilliant and made us feel so welcome.…
Beautiful views and a spotlessly clean room and bathroom. Very friendly welcome and the breakfast was great! Would recommend this place and hope to visit again. Perfect place to stay if you are getting the ferry across to Stornaway. Would recommend without hesitation.
Pauline is an amazing host, very friendly and happy to give an advice.Place is beautiful, well equipped, comfortable, quiet with a magical view. Good quality, big yummy breakfast! Highly recommended!!
We stumbled across this B&B after finding all B&Bs near Ullapool had been booked up on sites like Booking.com. So incredibly happy that we found Skylark though! The view is truly stunning - I don't think photos even do it justice. The room itself is beautifully presented and the bed might actually be the most comfortable bed I've slept in. Pauline was lovely and so accommodating. My partner had to have an interview during our stay and she was more than happy making adjustments for us. I can't recommend this B&B enough. I just wish we had stayed longer!
The quality of the room, views & breakfast has all been said in previous reviews and on all three counts it was amongst the best we stayed at during our 16 night trip. A very friendly host who seemed to have thought of everything. We were lucky to be able to enjoy a sunset with a bottle of wine sat outside in the garden looking over the stunning view of the bay below. Generally we thought accommodation prices in northern Scotland were expensive relative to the standards but you certainly couldn’t say that about Skylarks - it was the lowest priced room we stayed in and one of the best!
