A wonderful warm welcome from fantastic staff and delicious coffee. We walked in soaking wet following a coast walk from minehead - made to feel so welcome and helped us with bus times back to minehead. Next time we think we'll stay! Thanks for looking after us and Dougie the dog!
Warm, friendly welcome on arrival. Rooms were clean and spacious with everything that was required. Bathroom had both a shower and a bath, which was very welcome after a day of walking. No food being served that evening but a table was booked for us at the sister pub in Porlock (where the food was very good), however we did have a good breakfast the next day. Overall a very good place for an overnight stop when walking the SWCP.
Overnight stay whilst walking the Southwest Coast Path. Fantastic to have a bath to soak in. Everything was very clean, bed was comfortable and the room was quiet after last orders. Lovely cooked breakfast.
Took some guests to the Bottom Ship on Friday, bad choice. The food was really good but the service was terrible, there seemed to be a lot of staff but getting their attention was hard work. One young lady was asked a couple of times for drinks and food, each time the answer was I'll be back in a minute, that minute never came. After waiting 10 minutes for someone to take our sweet order they finally came over but only because I went to the bar and complained. We placed our order and 15 minutes later we were still waiting for them to arrive by that time I'd had enough and went back to the bar and asked for the bill, told them we had had enough of their bad service cancelled the sweet and left, so so disappointed. We had been there before and every thing was really good but this time disgusted with the service. LOOKS LIKE A PLACE TO AVOID IN THE FUTURE.…
Been twice - first night they totally forgot our order. Second night, only two put of three main courses arrived - they’d totally missed one off the order. If it wasn’t for the fact we’ve been going every year - and it was previously really good - we wouldn’t have given them a second chance. There used to be a lady working there who kept everything ticking along but I think she’s gone. It’s a shame, as eating places in Porlock Weir are pretty much non existent now since the hotel only serves residents currently.
