Harbour Hotel Padstow is often celebrated for its prime location near the bustling Padstow harbour, which makes it a convenient base for exploration. Guests have called out the hotel's well-maintained and immaculately clean rooms, along with the tasteful decoration and comfortable beds that provide a welcoming atmosphere. The complimentary gin and the views are also popular, though opinions on breakfast vary, with some finding it lackluster.
While the staff receives accolades for their friendliness, there are occasional mentions of service lapses. Additional charges and a basic continental breakfast have led some guests to question the overall value.

Hotel's Favourite
We stayed here for 3 nights, perfect spot and the team there are just so friendly and helpful - absolutely superb.
The room is very bright, well decorated and had air conditioning. Our bathroom had body wash, shampoo and conditioner in. The room has a full minibar and the water is free. Lovely treat that there is a complimentary gin and tonic too. The cream tea at the hotel is delicious and the continental breakfast is also superb.
It’s also in a super convenient location with everything in walking distance. Parking is available but quite tight and if you are staying for a couple of days maybe bring some hangers as there was only a couple in our room.

My wife and I stayed at the Padstow Harbour Hotel 16/17 January. It was a birthday celebration and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We arrived on a cold blustery rainswept afternoon .As soon as we entered the hotel we were given a very warm welcome by the reception staff who were polite and helpful in the arrival administration. Our room ( rm 26) on the second floor had magnificent views over the harbour and river estuary and we would have further appreciated the balcony had the weather not been inclement. The ensuite was spotless and very high quality fittings had been plumbed in. There was no evidence of sealant mould around the edges of the bath and sink which we have often experienced in some 5 star hotels. The bedding was wonderful. Crisp super fine sheets combined with a sumptuous mattress and topper gave us both a relaxing nights sleep. It was clear that the Head of housekeeping ran a very tight ship and we appreciated this.
The restaurant was beautifully appointed and the food of high quality and presentation. The menu was not extensive but it was evident they prepared and served dishes that they knew would please most diners palates. The restaurant staff Chris,Paul and Alax were very attentive and knowledgable in the food that they served. Nothing was too much trouble and they responded to our needs with a smile.
Overall this boutique hotel was a real delight. They simply paid attention to every small detail so that collectively it provided the ultimate experience for the paying guest. We will certainly return with high expectations and thoroughly recommend this hotel to others.

Dear Richardgastro, Thank you so much for posting this 5* review after staying with us. Room 26 is a beautiful room and will be massively popular in the summer once the weather has improved. It is great to hear the housekeeping was faultless in the room. Thank you also for your comments on the food and service the boys in particular will be delighted to have been mentioned. I look forward to welcoming you back to Padstow soon. Best Regards Michael

The hotel is working extremely hard to make the COVID environment as friendly and easy for guests to cope with. They started by sourcing a hand sanitiser that has a lovely perfume and does not feel greasy on the hand. The rooms are sealed with a "Deep Cleaned" notice to give guests confidence that the room has been fully cleansed prior to their arrival.
Our room was extremely comfortable with a good sized bathroom with walk-in shower.
The bed was to a standard that you would expect from a hotel of this class.
The bathroom was clean with a good number of soft towels. The shower was excellent, but there was no heater behind the mirror, so it was not possible to use the mirror after using the shower. Unfortunately there was a dead insect on the floor which remained there for the whole of our stay.
Food in the restaurant was good. Breakfasts excellent with good variety of cereals, juices, bread and cooked foods. The staff were attentive and the food came promptly and was beautifully presented.
We were offered when we booked a within price "Harbour Fish and Chips" We booked a table at 7:30pm and we stated that we had already ordered our food when we booked the hotel and were having Fish and Chips. However, an hour later, the food had not appeared. No one seemed to be in charge and I asked a waitress what was going on and was told that she would speak to her manager. However, there was still no approach from any member of staff. Eventually food did appear, but my wife was no longer interested in food because of the time - by now after 8.45pm. The food itself was not of great quality. The fish was cooked but the batter was underdone. I spoke tp the Restaurant Manager, who apologised and spoke about further training for the member of staff concerned. We were were not charged for our drinks. It was sad, however, that the beginning of our stay was negatively affected by the poor experience in the restaurant on our first night.
Given that we began our stay on the second day that the hotel opened after the COVID pandemic, I think that they have done extremely well to provide the level of service that they have managed to reach. I am sure that we were some of the guinea pigs and we did have a 20% discount on our stay at the time of booking.

Booked a four night stay at this hotel and was impressed to see that they had all the measures in place to keep us safe and secure at this difficult time. We felt very reassured and safe in the hotel and all members of staff wore masks
Check in was easy and we were given a lovely sea view room in the third floor. Room was very spacious with a lovely big and high bed. There was complimentary tea and coffee and more impressive gin and Sherry. Breakfast was served at your table and there was plenty of choice and the quality of the food was impressive
Padstow was exceptionally busy and it was so lovely to retreat of the comfort of the bar at the hotel
This is our second visit to this hotel and we love the location and all the facilities on offer
Atmosphere is relaxing and staff are most attentive making for an enjoyable stay

+1
While we’ve stayed in three different Harbour Hotels, we keep hoping for better. The photos and design always look great. The property in Padstow is now open after being closed for 3 months (now open 2 weeks) so we appreciate that everything might not be running smoothly. However we do expect cleanliness. We were in a £300 night room, one of two rooms with an outdoor balcony overlooking the estuary - for 4 nights. On the balcony we found lots of debris, including a coke bottle full of cigarette butts, and two outdoor chairs with seriously unravelling webbing. We asked twice for it to be cleaned so we could enjoy it. It took me bringing down the coke bottle and plunking it on the reception desk to get any action. There are significant carpet stains on the carpet. The frame of one window in the bathroom had come away from the glass. We had our wine glasses replaced with dirty ones. How did we know? They had red wine residue in the bottoms and we hadn’t drank anything other than white wine in the room. There were stains on the duvet cover. Many of the shutter slats were broken. The inside of the balcony doors had seagull droppings, plus a one door had a broken pane. You would think management would have taken advantage of no guests to thoroughly clean and repair the rooms. And if this room was fully pulled together, you could charge more.
Regarding Covid safety measures, seemed like it was basic: distancing directions and hand gel. No masks on the staff. In fact, as I came back into the hotel in the 3rd day, I heard a newly checked in guest (who had questioned why the staff were not masked) told that wearing face masks was against corporate company policy. The next day, our last morning, the breakfast staff were wearing painter’s dust masks. Which we know are not sufficient. BTW, the food is rather dire here as it is at the other Harbour Hotels in the UK. We’ve stayed at the one in Bristol and also Brighton. Similar experiences. Given the Christchurch NZ properties have such great ratings, one can only conclude that regular maintenance for the U.K. properties is not a priority or there is limited budget, nor is the food quality. It’s really a huge shame as these properties are all in fabulous locations and have lovely interior design. I truly hope they improve overall.

I am very disturbed by the experience and observations which you have expressed in relation to Harbour Hotels. There are one or two reasons whilst the room which you recently occupied in Padstow fell so significantly below that which you would have expected, and rightly so! Rather than go into detail here, I wonder whether you might be agreeable to discuss your post in more detail. As the new senior general Manager in Padstow, I am confident that this is neither the norm nor anything close to what would be remotely acceptable either right now or going forwards. If you could share you contact number to my email, I shall be in touch. Many thanks for your assistance Darryl.reburn@harbourhotels.co.uk

This is a stylish hotel in a great location overlooking Padstow Harbour. The Covid precautions were second to none which we found very reassuring..
Breakfast was excellent - wide choice of hot dishes, luxury items such as smoked salmon, good quality sausages, bacon and bread.
The restaurant overlooks the harbour, hotel is a moment's walk from the town.
The room was a good size, with good quality bathrobes, slippers and daily refresh of bottles of water.
The staff in the hotel were friendly, professional and efficient. Special mention to Paul the restaurant manager who was a star and Operations Manager Moez who sorted out a room issue without any delay, both of whom were extremely helpful and professional.
We will definitely return and would recommend the hotel to others without hesitation.
There was a Nespresso machine and tea-making facility, although these were a bit difficult to use as they were on a shelf in the wardrobe. Unfortunately the mini bar didn't work properly.
Parking was a bit tight but not bad considering the parking issues in Padstow itself and to be fair we never had a problem finding a space.
Dinner in the restaurant could have been better; we ate in the hotel on two evenings and found the food lacking. This was surprising considering the excellent quality of breakfast. This was a shame as we would have eaten in the restaurant more had the dinner been more to our expectations.

Thank you for your review and I am delighted to understand that the vast majority of your feedback was positive. At the present time, our guests are very interested to know that they are selecting a property which is Covid safe, so to know this was considered 'second to none' is very good indeed. We share all constructive comments with the wider team and will therefore review the other points you have shared. We have received consistently positive feedback about the food from the 'Harbour Kitchen', it would be most helpful to better understand what you found to be lacking. I will ensure that Paul and Moez are aware of your very kind acknowledgement of their efforts during your stay.

My wife and I have just returned from a 2 night stay at this hotel and felt compelled to leave a review as our overall experience of the hotel was very disappointing!
On checking in we were allocated a room right next to reception which is also right next to the car park and drive way for deliveries making sleeping very difficult.
Whilst the hotel appears nice on the surface following a refurb our room was not good, whilst big and spacious the cleanliness was lacking and the room only appeared to have had a quick going over from house keeping and not a good clean with crumbs on the chairs and the bed very poorly made and stains on the carpet.
The room was dark as we could at no stage open the shutters as the room would've been open to all to look in while parking or walking out of the hotel.
As for luxuries.... we had 1 bottle of shampoo and 1 bottle of conditioner with nowhere in the bathroom for these to be placed as well as toilet rolls being placed on a windowsill with no toilet roll holder provided. Friends of ours staying at the same time had jars of cotton wool, cotton wool pads, moistueriser and a fan in their room.
We asked for the room not be fully serviced on the 2nd day (not sure we'd have noticed anyway) but asked for clean towels. These had to be asked for around 4.30pm.
Service was not much better in the restaurant for breakfast, while there were plenty of staff the service was lacklustre and most certainly not service with a smile.
Overall a very unhappy stay and would not stay here again, they charge a lot of money for a very average service, seems like they are complacent of custom due to the excellent location which is the best thing the hotel has to offer.

Ok so where to start I think with the good bits. Prior to arriving at the hotel the email communication was brilliant, online check in was simple and also arranging breakfast times and dinner reservations. On arrival the reception staff were very pleasant and helpful, as they were all during the length of our stay. The room was very tastefully decorated with complimentary gin and sherry (which was topped up during our stay) and complimentary bottled water (again replaced). The dining room/bar was pleasant, the waiting staff/bar staff very personable and attentive and the food was excellent in fact the portion sizes for dinner were large and exceptional value. Special mention must go to Paul in the restaurant who was very accommodating when we arrived one evening having not booked and also to his attention all during our stay.
Unfortunately not everything was what I would expect from a 4 star hotel, when we first arrived in our room there were hardly any coat hangers and those that were there had seen better days, a call to reception did provide a few more but only the metal dry cleaning type.
We searched the room for instructions about the TV and phone and other essential information, when we asked at reception we were supplied with a welcome letter which told us very little. On our last evening we found that someone had placed a QR code card on our dressing table which you needed to access the hotel directory!!
This brings me onto my biggest disappointment the housekeeping staff, over our stay towels were taken from our room and not replaced face flannels the same. Some days it was obvious the floor had not been vacuumed thoroughly and areas not been tidied, also there were a number off issues in the bathroom that should have been identified (bath/shower controls broken, waterfall shower head broken). I know staff are hard to come by but I think it was a combination of lack of training and of effective management.
With regard to one other issue, casual seating in the hotel is sparse there is a small alcove at one end off of the dining room/bar and some minimal seating at the opposite end plus some in the games room. A hotel with 4 star rating I think should have larger areas where people could meet or just sit and read or relax.
Car parking is another issue, you are made aware that parking is limited but there is definitely not enough available parking spaces and on one evening I had to park in the public car park down the hill. It was not an issue for me (except financial) so if anyone has mobility problems then they should contact the hotel and arrange a reserved spot.
Would I stay again, not sure, I think that senior management need to take a long hard look and address issues especially as I was paying an average of £250 per night and I don’t think my observations are unreasonable.

We stayed at the Padstow Harbour Hotel for our mini-moon this week and although the hotel is beautiful the actual experience is lacking somewhat.
The rooms are lovely however quite small and our room didn’t have a hairdryer which was a shame so we had to ask reception, not ideal given the price of the room.
The hotel itself is really clean and has been beautifully renovated to a high standard.
Parking is quite difficult and you can often find yourself blocked in, which we experienced so would advise to pre-book a space and leave your car there for the duration of your stay.
The biggest downside was the service. The service in the restaurant and bar was terrible and we waited on our second night 30 minutes to be served a gin and Tonic.
Again, breakfast on our final day was rather disappointing in that my wife’s breakfast was served 10 minutes before mine as there was a ‘mix up’ in the kitchen. I might add that our tea and coffee took 25 minutes to be served also.
We completely understand that there is a pandemic however in our opinion the hotel has opened far too early and accommodating far too many guests. There were no physical social distancing measures in place and the bar/restaurant in the evening was full to capacity and it felt like you were sitting on other guests.
Unfortunately we would give the hotel a miss next time we visit Padstow. They obviously have their preferred clientele which was evident from the bar staff and retuning guests.

Thank you for choosing to stay at our Hotel recently and for sharing your experience. I am really very sorry to read the points which you have raised and I would very much like the opportunity to discuss them in more detail. It is our intention to offer exemplary service and hospitality. Whilst the hotel style has an air of relaxation and somewhat laid-back, that does not give any excuse or reason not to be efficient with our delivery. Perhaps you would be agreeable to get in touch by contacting me personally. Kind regards Darryl.reburn@harbourhotels.co.uk

We’ve stayed at a couple of other Harbour Hotels and this relatively new addition is equally good. Location is excellent offering lovely views of the estuary and handy for restaurants, cafes, pubs, shops and harbour. Room decor and facilities very good and reflect the coastal location. Some WiFi issues encountered: unsure if this was hotel specific or a geographic challenge in Padstow. Fantastic, themed decor in public areas and some outdoor space available too. Despite a slightly tight squeeze the availability of parking is a bonus in busy Padstow. Reception, restaurant and cleaning staff crews all working extremely hard to provide an enjoyable and relaxed stay, adapted to maintain wellbeing and safety in the midst of Covid-19 virus pandemic. With further refurbishment work in plan, (eg, former outdoor pool area), we won’t hesitate to return. In the meantime, pondering which Harbour Hotel should we select to stay at next?!

A great review, thankyou so much! Thanks for raising the Wi-Fi, we believe to have just been on one floor and now rebooted! The Hotel like many other hospitality businesses are once again busy as they should be at this time of year. Despite that, it is good to read that you observed our adaptation to Covid19 and to be keeping our guests and staff as safe as we possibly can. I am sure you would enjoy Fowey or indeed St.Ives Harbour Hotels when returning to Cornwall.

No pool or spa area.
It’s has a pool to the rear car park but I do not think it is now open. Closed with Covid don’t think it’s come back online.
They leave drinks on a tray in the room that are complimentary and they refresh them each day.
Hi Craig, We have some bikes at the hotel which can be borrowed by guests. Alternative there are also several local bike hire shops.
Yes, we have limited onsite car parking which is free of charge. As the parking is limited, we unfortunatley cannot guarantee a space when staying with us. There is alternative paid parking in several car parks just a short walk away - find the best ones here.
If you are a blue-badge holder, please contact our Reception team who can assist you with parking.
