Detailed Reviews
We decided to try the newly reopened carvery for a Sunday lunch. The food was good and reasonably priced. However we also had our customary one bottle of sparkling water with a dash of lime cordial in two glasses and when I went to pay for this the bar lady said it was €7 !!!! Apparently this bar charges €2 per shot for cordials ( normally free) . Given that the retail price of a litre of Lime cordial is €3.37 in a supermarket I think this is putting the value of lime cordial at around €40 . Gross overcharging and annoying

I was with a large group in the function room. It was a great night but bar staff were very slow and spilled drinks when putting them on the counter. On a very positive note they cater extremely well for allergies. I informed them of my peanut allergy when booking. When it came to the time to get our finger food there was a plate set aside for me. All my food was cooked separately and they made me feel so safe.

Had a Sunday takeaway lunch there yesterday and I have to say my wife had the turkey diner and I had the beef diner and both were delicious, they were hot served in a few minutes and in a good quality containers which meant the food stayed hot for longer. Very good value, pleasant staff and all done within the COVID 19 restrictions.
I ate there before many times in the bar but never got a takeaway but it was to die for. Greta to support local business trying to stay open and serving good quality food. I will be back when the bars opens and definitely for the takeaway Sunday diner until the COVID 19 ends.
Well done and thank you.

Bad Points. We had the misfortune of being put in a room that badly needed updating, room 105. Taps loose, sealant on taps failed, rotten tatty old towels (which smelled of cooked food), rotten timbers around bath, cold and drafty, poor heating with no controls, only cleaned once in 3 days. Even when the room was cleaned it wasn't great, I had to ask the cleaner to replenish items in the bathroom and in fact ended up taking them off the trolley that was in the corridor. we kept the curtains closed to keep the cold draft from the windows at bay, we put one of the bed throws against the door to stop drafts from there. I understand that the covid situation has delayed things getting done but a room like this should not be let in it's current state. There are updates going on in the hotel but this room was so bad! I wrote and complained on our return, to no avail mostly, the Hotel Manager does not seem to want to resolve anything except for a hollow offer of a discounted rate on newly refurbished room for one night. Given that we spent 500.00, this was a meaningless response. The room certainly is not what is advertised on their website, in other words the website is misleading prospective occupants into believing they would be staying in a lovely room, which this was not, by any means. The room had an iron and board, from the 1960's probably.
Good Points. We were there for a wedding for the weekend, food at the wedding was great, service was great at the wedding too. The breakfasts in the hotel are very good and the staff were very good too. Function room and dance floor are really good. Drinks very expensive though.
The Manager ( I will not name him here) has chosen not to respond to my further emails and requests details nor a decent offer or partial reimbursement. Initially there was a short but ineffective response, no doubt a generic response sent to all and sundry.

Great hotel, fab location for family event or a few bevvies. Rooms need some modernisation but the function room is spectacular.
Rooms could benefit from a deep cleaning, removing chewing gum from inside the bedside lamp and removing dead spiders would make a difference.
Also for the price of the room, breakfast should be included.

Had Reservations booked for over 2 months to stay in June but got an email this morning saying that they cancelled the reservation no explanation as to why. I now have to find alternative accommodation in a rush which will probably now be more expensive. Very disappointed with the customer service and would not recommend this hotel as it's clear that even once booked there is no guarantee that you will get to stay there!

Myself, my husband and our two friends were due to stay here the bank holiday weekend in June and booked it back in February and today we received an email stating that it was cancelled due to the government requesting the hotel to be used for Ukrainian refugees, while I have the greatest sympathy for the Ukrainians this is utterly ridiculous and totally unfair as any place I’ve now tried is either booked up or extortionate prices. I hope the hotel will always have the government to fund them because we certainly will never book there again. The government and hotels appealed to us all last year to holiday at home!!! How can we when our bookings could be cancelled last minute 😡😡
The hotel are not even answering the phones.

We booked two rooms very spacious and comfortable. We were told at reception that breakfast was at 7, we said we had to leave at 730, so we’re told, nor problem we will bring it to your room. At 7 no one had arrived, went to reception to be told breakfast started at 7? In fairness staff sorted out our needs very quickly and we got away. Same day we were told that our ferry the next day was cancelled and we had to leave same day. Left at 5pm. We appreciated a full refund could not be given for our non overnight stay or breakfast. However repeated emails to the hotel for a partial refund or credit for a future booking remain unanswered. Disappointing.

Booked 2 rooms for 4th June 2022. Have just received an email cancelling room because the government has requested that the hotel be closed for Ukranian refugees.
Existing bookings should be honoured.

Had a room booked for my 17 year old daughter who is having her Debs at this hotel and needed to stay to travel onwards the following day. Just cancelled with no explanation. I see from others that this is because the government have requested rooms for refugees. Absolutely right that our government are seeking accommodation but it is not right to cancel bookings confirmed for this purpose. It is not right to fix one issue but causing others, no matter the circumstances. I cannot get alternative accommodation for my daughter as it would mean her travelling in the early hours of the morning to an alternative hotel. She is 17!!
It is ok to accept the Debs booking but not to accommodate them overnight. Shame on you Carnegie when you are looking for custom in the future!

I'm almost sure there is, if not there is a very good bus service outside the hotel, hope this helps
Sean
Yes, a very nice hotel, bus stops right outside the hotel, not sure about shuttle bus, although bus service is very good to the airport and city centre, airport is only 4or 5 km from the hotel, city is about 12 km further from the airport hope this helps
Hi Jazz, apologies for the delay. We hope you have looked after.
We have rooms available further away from the bar area so guests can have a quieter room.
