Detailed Reviews
The location is really great, on the lovely beach of Mavrovouni. The studios are correct. Spacious, equipped kichenette, 2 televisions, nice view. Cleaning is average. The garden is big, ideal for children and there is a bar offering drinks and snacks. They can serve you on the beach too and staff is really polite. The owner is nice and ready to listen to what you need. The only problem was the very poor wi-fi signal both in rooms as on the beach.

The room is clean. We stayed at the back of the hotel because we hadn’t closed and they gave us what was available at the time. I believe the rooms in front would be perfect. The sea right in front of the hotel.
It has its own parking.
It is close to the very Gytheus .

These apartments are located right on the shore of Mavromouni Beach, which is a beautifully long, clean, sandy beach.
The studios/apartments are basic, but kept spotlessly clean. We stayed in a studio which had a little kitchenette, comprising of a two-hob oven and a fridge. Not great if you wish to prepare haute cuisine, but if you're just whipping up pasta and greek salad, then fine! The beds are comfortable, the rooms have air-con and the bathrooms are clean and serviceable. My only little niggle was that I'm a very light sleeper, so the fridge and air con bothered me slightly at night. Of course, this is true of any studio accommodation, so the answer is to fork out for apartments (which Yiannis - the owner - also provides). One other warning - the water is heated by solar power, so it's not hot first thing in the morning. This didn't bother me, as I liked to swim first thing then shower a little later (about 10) by which time it had warmed up - but something to bear in mind for early risers.
The best thing about the apartments is the location and view. Each one has a big, spacious balcony with table and chairs and fabulous views over Mavromouni Beach. Try to get a top floor apartment if you can! The apartments are literally a minute's walk from the water' edge. Yiannis provides a few sunloungers and umbrellas. I do recommend getting up and going swimming just after the sun's risen - the water's like glass. Take goggles/a snorkel - there are all kinds of fish to see! In the afternoon, the wind blows and the water gets choppier - fun if you like to play in the waves!
You'll need a car - there's lots to do in the area (Monemvasia, Vathia and the Caves of Diros, to name a few.) Gythion's a short but beautiful drive away, and it has all the amenities you'll need - tavernas, pharmacy, supermarket, bakery, souvenir shops etc. Yiannis and his wife run a little cafe at the apartments which serves coke, ice cream, coffee, etc - so you can always get a drink or snack without going far.
All in all, it's basic (like all Greek accommodation) but it's very clean, comfortable, well-serviced and the location is fabulous. And for 20 euro pppn - who can argue?
Had the best holiday ever here.

the title says it. If you want to relax and enjoy the sea and beach of Mavrovouni, this is the place to be. Staff is great (John, Mary and Nikos) and they make you feel like home. The apartment was spacious for two persons, very clean and had all the basic comforts. Snack bar was serving a bit late in the morning (after 9:00-9:30) but was serving coffees and beverages at the beach

Just returned from a fortnight in Alkion apartments, and we had a fabulous time. The view from the balconies is superb, and you are only 25 yards from the beach (where turtles nest). The studios are kept very clean. The beds are comfortable and the shower rooms pleasantly tiled. Towels and bedding are provided. There is free wif-fi, a cafe, sun loungers and sunshades on the beach, and plenty of shaded parking. The owners are very helpful and friendly, and they produce their own very tasty olive oil from the grove behind the apartments. Finally, the apartments are excellent value at €40 per night for a double.

On Mavrovouni's super beach, I thought this the best place for a coffee. Yannis Berakis is a great host and does a brilliant espresso. They have shaded seating in the café or across the beach road under casuarina trees. They also serve drinks on the beach. Opening during high and mid-season.
Rooms were very standard but great value for ones right n the beach.

Apartment resort Alkion is one of the famous places in Greece. A fantastic place for relaxing and "cooling" down to earth. The apartments are directly on the beach - 20 m to the water. You can visit Yannis and his family from April until November and all apartments are open. Yannis, has 13 rooms or apartments available, for single, 2, 4 up to 6 person. On to of it it's possible to rent a little house on his ground. All rooms are clean and well equipped. All front apartments (9) has one or two nice balconies for enjoying the amazing sunsets or the morning sun. Yannis is managing a small coffee bar on his ground where you can get from 9am to 11pm breakfast, coffee, drinks and little greek snacks. If you want you can get your drinks and snacks served from his team 20 m from your apartment on the beach on your chair under your umbrella - all 80 chairs and and 40 umbrellas are for free. The temperature in summer is well balanced because of the local Meltemi wind. Mani beach is also a fantastic place for beach holiday, kiting and windsurfing. If you want to learn more about the Mani culture tours to Areopolis or Vathia have to be on your agenda. Overall the price and performance quality in this wonderful resort Alkion is excellent well invested. You will definitely enjoy your visit .....
