I always do a bed bug check. This means I lift up the sheets and look at the mattress and mattress pad. It looked like someone had dumped pepper on the mattress. Tons of dead bed bugs and their shells. Do not stay here. I went down the road and paid a lot more for the Holiday Inn, but it was well worth it. Friendly staff and amazing hotel. After speaking with people at a local restaurant there are only two places anyone should stay the holiday in or the Comfort inn.
We went up to Batesville to visit my oldest daughter who had just had major knee surgery .I read the reviews on this and pretty much knew what to expect and my hotel points paid for most of the room so what the heck. The front desk people were very nice, the room was clean, but the place is old and worn out. No working ice machine, no hair dryer in the room and I had to use my cell to call the front desk because the room phone didn't work. The place was full both nights we stayed there, so I doubt there is any incentive to update or repair what needs it. And the two better hotels are twice the money. Thankfully we didn't have to spend that much time in the room or sleeping in a worn out bed.
We stayed one night here, to go through the "Tour of Lights" in the river park, and also do some Christmas Shopping. The owners were so friendly, and attentive to our needs, making sure we had everything for a good stay. At check in, I asked Manali (co-owner) for directions to Bath & Body Works, and she gave me a great coupon, then a few minutes later she brought a printed computer coupon to our room (I was able to use both coupons on top of the BOGO sale going on at the store. Pros - The king bed room was large and clean, carpet was clean, linens were clean and white, bed & pillows were comfortable, large vanity outside the bathroom, lots of desk and table space to set bags, fridge, microwave, and coffeepot. Not hair dryer in room, but when I asked, they brought me one. New large flat screen TV, with lots of channels. Cons - It is an older building and they are still working on the rooms, but lots of small holes in walls and cracks to be fixed. Shower head could be better, not much water volume. Breakfast was adequate, fresh waffles, muffins, apples, small packaged pastries, bread, cereal, and coffee.…
We had everything we needed. I really liked the plug on top of the bed stand. Roomy, wasn't crowded and the View Inn Restaurant , near by was a great restaurant for breakfast although the Motel had waffles, cereal, coffee, juice. We loved the place. We stayed 4 days.
This Econo Lodge is on a hill, and the driveway is on a curve, so it's a little hard to find. Caution: If it's after dark when you look for it, you might have trouble finding it because there is no lit sign, and it sits back from the road. If you're looking for a comfortable bed, clean linens, and clean bathroom, this is the place for you. And as a bonus, there is a restaurant that shares the parking lot that serves breakfast and lunch. We got a breakfast of two eggs, bacon or sausage, and toast or biscuits for $3.50. Yes, you read that right. The sign on the door says Spah Grill, but the sign on the road says Corrine's.
