Our stay in Costa Rica was absolutely magical! The views were breathtaking—every morning felt like waking up in paradise. The owners went above and beyond to make sure we felt at home, even accommodating my limited dietary needs with such thoughtfulness and care. We stayed in the honeymoon suite, which was a perfect choice for a romantic getaway. The room was luxurious, and the attention to detail was outstanding. Our bed was remade twice a day and turned down each evening with a small candy left for us, which was an incredibly sweet touch. One thing to note is that after arriving at the international airport, you need to take a smaller plane to reach the area. We were slightly unaware of this at first, but with a little planning, it’s perfectly fine. The lodge takes care of everything—they pick you up at the smaller airport right away and take you straight to the property. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a welcome drink and snack, which was such a lovely and thoughtful way to start our stay. The staff were all so kind and attentive. They were always on time and made everything seamless, from escorting us to our excursions to checking in daily to ensure our experience was exactly as we wanted. Having someone guide or accompany us to each activity added such a personal touch to the trip. Overall, it was a wonderful experience that exceeded our expectations. We felt so well cared for and genuinely appreciated. I would highly recommend this place to couples!

If you are considering Tranquilo, just book it!! I researched for a month and landed on Tranquilo and SO glad I did!! Christophe and Sebastian are the ultimate hosts. No detail is missed from the minute you are met at the airport, fresh welcome drink and cool cloth upon arrival at the lodge,to the minute you depart. You are in excellent hands with these two and their staff. Christina and Yosefa, are always nearby with a big smile and ready to help!!
Meals are curated by Christophe and are wonderful!! Something different each day; very healthy, fresh ingredients are used. The chefs have been more than accommodating to omit fish from my meals and replace it with a different protein while my husband reveled in all of the fresh seafood served!
You can do as little or much as you wish .Christophe and Sebastien use only the safest local activity vendors and will plan and organize all of it for you. Once you arrive at Tranquilo, you need not worry about a thing! The pools and views are lovely. The rooms and all grounds are impeccable. We would give this property 10 stars if we could. Christophe and Sebastien have a beautiful property, take pride in their hosting and pull it all off with perfection. Wonderful people, wonderful property. If we come back to Costa Rica, there will be no question where will stay!! We are grateful to have met our hosts and their dog, Oreo, who escorted us to the beach. Thank You Christophe, Sebastien and your entire crew!!

My Fiancé and I stayed at this fabulous boutique resort at mid November 2022. I can not say enough good things about this magical place. I booked our Villa (the one with the plunge pool) as a last minute birthday celebration, it was perfect.
The Villa was completely private, surrounded by nature, cleaned to perfection everyday and stocked with much more than anyone could need. The bed is extremely cozy, the whole vibe of the Villa just creates for a space you don’t want to leave.
The grounds of the entire resort are pristine and the views can’t be matched. If your a bird lover you’ll be happy to know this place is right in the middle of a parrot / macaw highway. Every morning and evening these birds can be seen and heard (as they are quite chatty) flying over head going about the daily routine.
The food was endless and each meal was amazing. We actually had to ask for smaller portions as each 3 or 4 course meal was huge! We were even packed breakfast and or lunch when we went out on daily tours which far surpassed our expectations.
If you like your wine and Prosecco like we do, for a remote location, Tranquilo had everything we needed.
Special mention to the staff: Gonzalo waiter, danny and heiner chef, Marcela y javier, rooms, jonathan and douglas maintenance and jardin. You all made us feel extremely cared for during our stay. Owners Sebastian and Christophe, you were simply the best. Your special touches for Michael’s birthday were so thoughtful. You have a truly beautiful piece of paradise and we hope to return!

What can we say? This small, boutique luxury hotel is one of the best we have stayed in, not only in Costa Rica but around the world. The standard of the rooms, pools, grounds and dining area was extremely high. Our hosts/owners Christophe and Sebastien made sure that everything we needed and wanted was taken care of, personally in many instances, with the support of an amazing, willing and friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble, including arranging for our excursions and even our internal flights to and from the resort, at a discount!. Christophe the owner even met us on arrival and dropped us off again at the airstrip at the end of our stay. During our too brief 4 night stay, the 2 chefs created wonderful 3 course meals, including breakfasts, lunches and dinners, to an incredibly high, 5 star standard. Jonathan, our superb waiter, also made sure we had excellent service, extremely attentive at all times. And none of the attention and service we received was overbearing or ‘pushy’ as can be found in some boutique establishments. Here we found a simple, discreet attention to detail which enhanced the calming, relaxing and laid-back feel to the place.
This remarkable, intimate haven on the edge of the rain forest overlooking the ocean has a rare ambiance that really nurtures the spirit. The warmth, generosity and kindness from everyone there was like we were treated as friends rather than guests. We were treated as friends rather than guests and certainly feel we have made new friends. All in all a beautiful place to relax, unwind, be pampered and be with nature. We stayed at Tranquilo Lodge with our two adult sons and their S.O.’s for seven nights, taking a prop flight in from San Jose over the mountains. This was a five-star experience all the way around and I highly recommend it. We were attracted to the Osa Penninsula’s for its ruggedness, unique wildlife, preserved jungles and quiet beaches. Our guides were like forest spiritualists, contemplative, pausing to look up, listen and calling with whistles. We were shown a bat sleeping in a termite nest, a tarantula perched in a hollow log and caterpillars that danced as a group at the sound of a hand clap. The trails we took crisscrossed with the routes of monkeys swinging in the tree canopy above. At the end of our days of exploring, we returned to the Tranquilo Lodge, trading our rubber boots for flip flops. Our evening schedule became cocktails by the pool to watch the sun set over Drake’s Bay and sometimes talking with Christina about her life in Spain and now Costa Rica. For the dinners we are seated together on the outdoor patio, the table’s location thoughtfully moved for a different view each evening. Deliciously prepared multicourse meals with beautiful presentations and local ingredients invariably awaited us. Both Christina and Josefa served us with their beautiful wide smiles and their cheerful willingness to help us with our very middling Spanish. At the start of dinners either Christof or Sebastian, the proprietors and self-named Frenchies, would welcome us back, ask about our day and instruct us about plans for the next day’s adventure. With each passing day, everyone here shares a little more of their own story about life in Costa Rica. Their stories were fascinating and brought us closer to their world. At the end of the evening, we look forward to retiring to our beautifully designed, well-appointed, comfortable and very private bungalow. We wonder what tomorrow’s adventure will bring and are thankful to be lucky enough to have been part of this little family in the jungle. In summary, a beautiful setting, well-appointed clean and comfortable rooms, excellent food, friendly people, great service and lots to do!

The experience started with the wet landing on the beach, where we were met by our wonderful hosts Christophe and Sebastien. They have an exuberant energy that is engaging, positive and fun. They are fabulous. After a very warm welcome, we walked back to the hotel and was greeted with a beautiful sunset as it was close to evening. Our delicious dinner was prepared by Danny, the incredible chef who created all our marvelous and innovative meals. Thank you for the wonderful food experience. Gonzalo, our server, was amazing. He prepared the best coffee, gave impeccable service throughout our stay and remembered the little details so we did not need to request it each time. As described by another guest, our room was perfectly designed and very well appointed. They thought of all the details, such as using locally made soaps and shampoos, floor to ceiling windows with large sliding screens, a very comfortable and luxurious bed, nice lighting, a/c and fan, and even provided a take home gift of their room slippers. We think of them every time we wear it. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The 3 nights we stayed just flew by. Many thanks to Christophe, Sebastien and their team for a very memorable experience and for all the great work they do for their guests and for their community.

We had the best time here! Sebastian picked us up at the airport and he was so kind when I mentioned that I found the flight from San Jose to Drake Bay harrowing and somehow very emotional. He and Cristophe went out of their way to make our stay more than just "comfortable" but rather "exceptional." The food was always incredible and we broadened our horizons because we ate items as they were presented to us...things we might never have selected from a menu but foods that were wonderful nonetheless! Sebastian walked us down to the beach to make sure we got on the right boat for our trip to Corcovado, and when we were late in returning he was worried about us, regularly checking with staff to see if the boat had finally dropped us off. We felt cared for in every possible way. Christophe was usually present at dinner and very willing to talk about his life and his perspectives on a variety of topics. There were wonderful staff people all over, and we loved getting advice from them all. Christina took a personal interest in us as well as Christophe and Sebastian. When we left we were sad to go and also sad that this was our first stop (out of 3 regions that we visited in Costa Rica) and not our last, thinking that we would have enjoyed the luxurious atmosphere, food, scenery--scarlet macaws and all-- bed, toiletries, laundry service, and personal care at the end of our trip. However, as our vacation continued, we realized that this was the very best way to start our trip: we felt so welcomed and personally cared for and it was just the right way to begin our vacation. Thanks so much to Sebastian, Christophe, Christina, and all of the other staff at Tranquilo Lodge, including Oro--the wonder dog!

We had the most amazing 4 days at Tranquilo Lodge in early April 2024. We went as four friends and the rooms were beautiful, with their own balconies looking out onto the jungle. Each room had everything you need including a fridge, air con, a safe and areas to unpack your bags.
The setting of the lodge was so amazing, it is a short walk down to a lovely beach and the jungle is beautiful. There are so many different birds to see. We loved lying by the two pools and relaxing. Christina was incredible, so welcoming and fun! We drank a lot of margaritas and they were delicious!
We also did two tours, the night plankton tour and the long day trail in the jungle. Seeing a tapir was a real highlight, as was swimming in an absolutely beautiful waterfall.
The food at the lodge was unbelievable. The chefs are really amazing. We ate all sorts of delicious things including tuna steak, stuffed chicken, delicious pasta, and amazing deserts. The breakfasts were also delicious and included smoked trout and scrambled eggs.
We want to thank everyone at the lodge for having us and to Christophe and Sebastian for making it so nice. We really hope to return because it was one of the most amazing holidays.

We had a 2 week holiday around the west coast of Costa Rica and Tranquilo was our favorite part! From the moment we stepped off the boat feeling tired and windswept we were greeted by Christophe and Sebastien with hot towels and fresh juice. From then on we were looked after so well, we didn't need to think about anything, it was just total relaxation!
Their attention to detail was next-level, they organised our snorkeling tour and recommended a hike to the beach which we were transported to and picked up from. Our trip was early so we had breakfast delivered to the room... nothing was too much trouble and everything was so well organised making it totally stress-free!
The lodge itself is set away in the hillside with beautiful views of the ocean. We loved watching all of the wildlife coming and going each day. Our room was spacious, incredibly clean, full of amenities and we had the best night's sleep in the bed.
A highlight was definitely the food, we had 3 meals each day and loved every one, especially the ceviche and seafood pasta. It was nice to hear how they embraced all of the fruit and produce growing on the property to make a lot of the dishes they served us. We have a lot of happy memories from our stay and will definitely be back again one day!

When my wife Rae and I were leaving Tranquilo Lodge after a 5 night stay, I jokingly said I’d like to provide a 20 STAR review of our experience! Realizing that can’t be done on this platform, what we can agree on is that we have never experienced such a wonderful combination of location, facilities, experiences, gastronomy and most of all the incredible character of the entire staff at Tranquilo Lodge… how a small and intimate team can pull off such a high standard is beyond us! It is clear to us that the owners, Christophe and Sebastien are the hands on reason we had such an amazing time! Warm, engaging personalities coupled with a calm yet incredible eye for providing 20 STAR service!!! We are not sure we will ever find another experience that will top our stay at Tranquilo Lodge… we arrived with much excitement and expectation and left with our expectations exceeded “and” new acquaintances we will not soon forget… magical place and magical People, what more could you want!

Thank you for your questions. Snorkeling is not available directly off the beach. You can schedule an tour to snorkel around Caño Island.
We charter our own boat. Sportsfishing is a full day trip for marlin and sailfish and is typically about 30 to 35 miles off shore. Hopefully this answers all your questions. Should you have more questions, please let us know.
