We are a family of 4 and found the accommodations simple yet perfectly comfortable and a great value given the absolutely stunning location--steps away from a stunning, secluded beach. Given the simplicity of the room, I just want to say that it was very well-equipped with everything we needed including a kitchenette. Hot water was sufficient, all electrical outlets and lightbulbs were in good working order, beds were comfortable. The staff was friendly and courteous and helpful and although the hotel is old, I found that there were maintenance workers working on the property at all times keeping it clean and in good order. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and highly recommend.

There are great ocean views from the excellent cafe and lovely pool, especially at sunset. The staff was friendly and spoke English. Access to the beautiful beach is easy. The rooms are clean, well-equipped and comfortable, but don't offer great views. Well, the sturdy dining chairs in the room are not so comfortable, but it was nice to have a table and chairs. We felt very safe there. Nature lovers will enjoy the garden, iguanas and birdlife. You'll need a car to get to nearby beaches and towns, but just staying put at this hotel is relaxing. We enjoyed our stay there.

We had the room with the best views and a giant king size bed. The room was spotless with a great walk-in-shower! The food was excellent, especially the red snapper sandwich! The property manager (Yoanna) met us our last morning and took us to breakfast and she was an absolute delightful person who cares so much about the quality of care at Costa .Pariso. It was always very quiet and tranquil!

My wife and I stayed in the toucan nest. When we were walking to the room the smell of sewage was very strong at the front door. It was there everyday more so in the Morning . The management seemed to not care. The room was nice but there was no where to set your bags except the floor also no chair to sit on. parking was difficult also as the parking lot was extremely small but I knew that going in. The Restaurant service was very very SLOW we waited 1/2 hour for our water and tea. I would recommend this place but be aware of what you are getting

We are so sorry to hear you didn’t love your stay. The odor issue is very unusual, but it has been solved. As for the long wait at the restaurant, we apologize— we are currently training new wait staff. Hope to see you again under more enjoyable circumstances in the future.

Have reached out numerous times to try and get our deposit back from the hotel. Canceled our reservations on March 11 due to WHO declaring pandemic. Hotel acknowledged and asked for PayPal account so they could refund our deposit. March 19th asked again and were told they would send deposit next week. Asked again March 27th no reply. Still no reply after two more requests. Also asked for credit so we could return later this year, no reply. Has anyone else experienced this ?

Beautiful place. Beautiful views. Delicious food and drink. Esp. the passion fruit tart! Beach practically to ourselves. Pool with hammock. Relaxed, low key atmosphere. Staff was fantastic. Great location. Just outside of Domenical, but felt private and secluded. Loved it.

My husband and I spent the first five days of our honeymoon at Costa Paraiso, Dominical. When we arrived, John and Amanda, the American-born owners, showed us to our private Cabina. They offered to set up any tours (canopy, fishing, scuba, biking, etc.) we may need. Later, John drove my husband and I the 2 km into town to rent a car! They were beyond helpful and their staff was right on par, as well. Friendly and accomodating! The cabinas are located on a rocky part of the beach where many locals go to swim. I was afraid of the crabs and did not swim, but we took unbelievable photos of the sunset and my husband enjoyed running on this private strip of beach in the morning. The cabinas were cleaned daily. We stayed in Pelican Roost, which had AC. There were a couple resident geckos in the cabina, which we never saw but could hear chirping from the rafters. There were also two or three different ant colonies in the kitchen and in the sleeping area. But this is the rainforest! So, it was to be expected. The pool was also very clean and nice to take a dip in after a day at the beach. (The beach in town is rocky, brown sand on account of the Baru River in close proximity- great surfing!) The town is very small, no paved roads or banks for that matter (!) and full of surfers. There are some good places to eat (including great east-coast pizza- try the Dominical Special- and Asian-Fusion) and plenty of places to grab a beer (or three). Overall, we really enjoyed the lush and tropical setting at Costa Paraiso, the wildlife we saw and the staff. Dominical is great for surfing and little else. There is a fun canopy tour about 4 km down the road from town. We stayed maybe one day too long, but would recommend Costa Paraiso to anyone who can handle a few bugs. Great Place!

not sure the person who wrote the previous review even visited the same place. did the person stay there 4 years ago (as stated in the body of the review) or january 2006 (as noted in the summary)? my brother and i traveled together with our s.o.s and had a great experience - last week. due to a scheduling snafu (ours, not theirs) we stayed in 4 of paraiso's 5 casitas over 2 nights. the air conditioning was modular through wall and worked extremely well. the owners are gracious although check back - a sale may be completed soon. the grounds are awesome, clean, and include a small pool and a tide pool directly in front and one to the left that offers great 'swimming' even for kids. there is a guard on duty all night. it is a 20 minute drive to uvita at most, and an hour or so gets you about to osa. all on the best paved road in all of costa rica. 5 minutes north gets you to playa dominical. i don't know what the other person is talking about - the anonymous review is a little suspect to start. feel free to email with questions but please put something relevant in the subject line so it doesn't get deleted as spam. ralph

This little resort is tucked away on a private cove just south of Dominical. The beach to the south of the cove has some fantastic surfing for beginners and intermediates. The staff at the resort was very knowledgeable and helpful during our 3 day stay. We loved the deck and food in the cafe was fresh and delicious. We have friends locally and they all rave about the Paraiso, so you know you've come to the right place. Book early. It is a small resort which is the biggest part of its charm.

I've been going to Dominical for several years now and stayed in the town, but this year I went with my girlfriend and wanted something more upscale and private, and I didn't want to deal with wierd people wandering around the streets. We spent four nights at Costa Paraiso and it was exactly what we were looking for. The location there is simply stunning. We stayed in the Toucan villa and we had an amazing view of the ocean crashing on huge rocks and an island from our deck. I haven't seen any place in the area that is right on the ocean except here. It's worth just stopping by to see the location. Our room wasn't big, but it had a king size bed that was very comfortable and the AC worked great. The kitchenette was pretty shabby, but they serve breakfast and we ate out the rest of the time so it didn't matter to us. The owner Doug and the manager Jen were very welcoming and even partied with us a couple of nights... defninitely a different vibe from what I've seen at other places. The only negative was that we didn't rent a car, so we needed to rely on taxis to go for food and sometimes it's impossible to get a cab. There are great restaurants close by though, so rent a car if you want to stay here. All around great place, highly recommended!

This is correct. The beach is cut off by rocks, and unable to pass in the direction of town. It would take approximately 40 mins to walk into town, but taxis are available.
Angie
The hotel is on a rocky point in between Playa Dominical (bigger waves) to the north and Playa Dominicalito (smaller waves) to the south....you can walk about 10 minutes in either direction to get good surfable waves...the town of Dominical is 2 km north and takes 20 - 30 minutes to walk there, either along the road or the beach.
Hope that helps

I have received your question through Trip Advisor and I must apologize that I cannot answer your question.
I am the owner of Costa Paraiso but I live in Canada and do not manage Costa Paraiso.
I would request that you contact the hotel directly at the Costa Paraiso website with your questions and they will be able to give you the answers that you need.
