Holiday rates apply December 20th through January 5th and require a 5 night minimum stay. Management declines all responsibility for valuables left in the villas. Cancellation Policy: There is no refund if cancellation is made 14 days or less prior to the reservation date. When cancellation notification is received between 15 and 30 days prior to the reservation, a $50 processing fee per room will be charged. Payment will be forfeited if guest(s) arrive after the specific date of reservation or depart prior to final day of reservation. All cancellations need to be sent via e-mail. A cancellation is not confirmed until you have received an email or fax confirmation from us.

So this is the second year my wife and I stayed here. It's a perfect little place to stay. It has the most gorgeous view of the ocean. Even though we only got to see one sunset out of the 6 days we were there. Most nights we just sat on the huge deck and watched the storms roll in off the ocean. So amazing to see it raining 100 feet from where we are. It's set up in the hills a bit so you can get the amazing views so that means you have to drive up a decent hill to get to the place. Neither of us thought that it was a big deal. Went up and down it when it was pouring rain and had no issues.
They give you a cocktail (with or without alcohol) when you check in so that's an unexpected bonus. The restaurant has amazing food, with breakfast included. The breakfast menu was kind of small but delicious.
The staff that work there are so friendly. When we were checking out we realized that we had a flat tire on our car. So I asked the front desk if they could help and she got the maintenance man and he put air in our tire so we could get to the gas station to get it fixed.

After three years we came back to this gem place and it always delivers.
Alturas is a small and intimate hotel with only 7 private villas. Each has a balcony with a sitting area, hammock and astonishing views.
The stuff will know you by name and we had the privilege of knowing Casey and Jorge who really helped us with everything we needed, starting with amazing pina colada and phone calls to book activities.
Our room of 4 people was with the best view of the ocean. Not all rooms have the same view. However the pool area is the place to spend your afternoon and watch Tuscans and Marino Ballena national park from above.
The food was delicious and the presentation was very attractive with attention to the esthetics.

Stunning 180 degree ocean views! Its amazing to sit at the pool and look down at the Whales Tail in the distance. Our suite was huge and very nice. The food at the restaurant is amazing and actually a great value considering the quality of the food and the wonderful location. Our stay here was one of the highlights of our trip. The only down side is its quite a steep drive up a long gravel road to get there, so be sure you have a 4 wheel drive. Water was good to drink. We saw monkeys right from the parking lot. Be sure to book at tour of the adjacent animal shelter while you are there. Another nice bonus is a welcome drink, plus local microbrews on tap at the bar (only hotel we stayed at which had this).

This is a lovely hotel with comfortable rooms and beautiful views. We stayed in a one bedroom. It had a living room, kitchen, spacious bathroom, awesome porch with a pair of rockers, hammock, and a table with 4 chairs. The couch was a futon so you could actually have three adults or to adults and two small children. Our view was spectacular. There were trees so we could view the local wildlife and a clearing to see a good deal of ocean. Bring your binoculars. We spotted humpback whales one morning and watched them right from the porch. The restaurant was amazing and delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They made us feel very ‘at home’ while we visited. The pool is very nice too and it overlooks the ocean. There’s plenty to do in the area. There is a wildlife sanctuary connected to the hotel which was very interesting and informative about the local wildlife. Whale watching tours, ATV tours, hiking, surfing, shopping and restaurants. Some of these can be booked right at the hotel if you wish. As some have mentioned, a 4x4 vehicle is a must to get up the steep road that leads to the hotel. I highly recommend this place. It was an awesome week.

Amazing views, great location near Dominical, clean large rooms, great pool area, friendly and helpful staff. View of the coast was the best I have ever seen. The only potential negative is the drive up to the hotel is very steep- so make sure you have a 4 wheel drive car! The location is quiet and safe, and you can easily get into town where there are cafes, restaurants, surfing, etc...Could not have asked for a better stay.

The view is incredible, especially since you can enjoy it while you swim in the pool (which is very pleasant and calm). I found the experience to be very relaxing, and I would love to go back. The food and drinks were exquisite, and the staff was friendly. Totally recommended!

Yes to both. Upon check-in, they take your credit card info and you run a “tab” during your stay and they charge your card once upon checkout. (Which helps with internationally usage fees the card charges)
There is no bird feeders. They have a restaurant with a great menu. It is expensive but the food is amazing. I can’t answer your question about the trail. There is a wildlife sanctuary on the property that we took pictures at. Not the same as the wild but good to see the work they do to save injured animals. I can’t say enough good things about the place. The view is stunning and people are great. I think every week about going back for more vacation time. Rent a vehicle its a must.
There are more places to choose from in the Dominical area.
