This accommodation was the only place on the Otago Rail Trail where we didn't feel very welcome by the host (woman). We felt like an inconvenience rather than guests in this house. It was a bit of a dampener after a fantastic day of riding. A shame as most hosts were really friendly, genuine people. The house is very clean, decorated 90s style and has a nice view.
This purpose-built lodge was the perfect rest stop on the Rail Trail. Arrived soaking wet and the drying room and laundry were fantastic amenities. The common lounge and dining area gave a really homely feel. Continental breakfast was excellent. The room itself was beautifully appointed, with modern bathroom.
From Inverlair's spa pool, you have a magnificent view of the magnificent Maniototo. Welcome after a day on the Otago Rail Trail, Inverlair has provided everything visitors need before they've thought of it including e-bike charging, honesty fridge and a hearty breakfast. We slept well and enjoyed the large communal lodge space. The pick up and drop off fo the local pub for dinner was fab too, especially due to unscheduled rain.
Stayed here day2 on the rail trail, and it's the most modern place we stayed at - makes for a good mix on the trail. It is very spacious - vast lounge and large dining area/kitchen, good sized rooms with en-suites, and great outside areas for evening views of the mountains, spa pool much appreciated for anyone cycling. Lots of facilities - most of which we didn't use - but there can't be much you would want for that isn't provided (covered cycle shed with power points for e-bikes so you don't even have to take the battery out). Good hospitality, but actually the standout is the lodge aspect; you pretty well get the run of the place to yourselves. You get welcomed in and it's a case of "here's all the stuff - make yourselves at home and use it as you would at home". It was summer for us, so a nice evening outside before going to the local (and great) tavern, but I can see Inverlair would be great in winter too, with a roaring fire and modern conveniences. Tony provides standard continental breakfast but will cook up a breakfast if you want.…
We stayed at Inverlair Lodge for one night while we were on the Otago Rail Trail. The lodge had everything we needed. Lovely good sized ensuite rooms and a huge kitchen, dining, and lounge area with roaring fire. The outdoor spa with amazing views was so relaxing after a days biking. Tony catered a wonderful bbq dinner for us that we just had to cook up on the bbq. And a wonderful cooked breakfast. Wonderful hosts and gorgeous location just off the trail. We definitely go back !
