We were looking to escape for one night and have a get away. Once we arrived and checked in we were excited with the shuttle service we were told to use through out the stay. Things took a turn real quick. Someone threw up in the main pool that was supposed to be open 24/7 (big reason we chose the location). So they opened the club pool and if I was paying a membership to that pool it would have been canceled long ago. There was missing tile from the side of the pool and seemed to have not skimmed the debris for 3-4 days. The one bright side to the night was the amazing food at The Grill. I had the filet and my wife had the pasta. Both were absolutely amazing and we didn’t say a word once we took our first bite. We tried our best to enjoy the trip but just could not talk ourselves out of driving over an hour to not stay in the room any longer. My wife went to take a shower which still had the previous guests hair all over in the bathroom stall sized shower. Finally, time for bed we thought… nope the sheets were covered in specs and dirty. Being from the valley we understand that there can be critters in your room but it looked as if the maids and hotel didn’t even care and invited them into the room. Multiple spider webs on the ceiling and no possibility that a pest team sprayed that room to keep them from entering. Last straw was the request (because you have to park your car in a lot away from your room) to be picked up and taken to our car. We did not receive a response from the “24/7” shuttle team for 30 minutes so we decided to walk. Thankfully a golf cart was driving by after we were already half way to the lobby and they took us the rest of the way. We stayed a total of 6 hours and spent roughly 1 hour in the room before calling it quits. I would recommend against this “5 star” hotel and choose a 2 star instead as the probably clean and care about the customer much more from past experience

This place is dreamy, I true Heaven on Earth! I love getting back to the West Coast, specially the Phoenix area, and nowhere I'd rather be than the Boulders Resort! The private villas are amazing, intimate, and make for a peaceful escape while still giving you access to Phoenix, or you can stay on-site and enjoy the many incredible amenities this gorgeous Hilton Resort has to offer! Don't forget to get a round of golf in, even if you're not an avid golfer!

My daughter and I stayed here after her graduation. The room was great! The beds were comfortable. The bathroom had a large shower. It was beautiful! The views from the room were amazing. Wonderful service at the restaurants, as well as good food. We had great service at the Spa. The massage was relaxing! Exactly what we needed! When you relax at the pool, the views are breathtaking. I would definitely recommend!

Within 1 hour of falling asleep the first night I was stung by a scorpion in bed! Plus, we were supposed to receive free breakfast as part of our package for 2 adults and 1 child. However, that was not true at all! Once we checked in we found out it was only $50 per morning ($25 per person). But we had 3 ppl clearly on our reservation. Their defense was the room had a “capacity” of only 2 ppl for a two double bed room. So either the child that was on the actual reservation does not count as human or I suppose we were to leave her outside our room! Most ridiculous excuse. And the food in the only restaurant serving breakfast is priced so high that breakfast for three ran over $100 each morning. The “free” breakfast was not honored, they did nothing as a result of my being stung. The place seemed a bit run down in places. One morning our breakfast took almost an hour to come out and then the yogurt was served in a very dirty dish ( looked like dried guacamole). We went to them 3 times to honor this breakfast offer and they did not. Guest beware. Would not return. Hilton resorts are certainly not the level of guest service they used to be - shame shame!

The Boulders sits way north of Scottsdale in Carefree. Nestled in the desert, we loved the wildlife and serenity of the desert. No traffic noise to be heard. Service was exemplary; staff was genuinely friendly and helpful. Their eager-to-please attitudes were contagious. We enjoyed a variety of food options - all fresh, artfully crafted and 'non-hotel'. Lots of walking and hiking trails and more wildlife than expected! Six days there and each day had new adventures. We particularly appreciated the option of an adult only pool and a family pool. The beds in the casitas were the most comfortable beds ever. The walk-out patio (covered) was used every evening as we watched the sunset in the desert.

We were treated exceptionally well during the entirety of our stay at The Boulders! Time and again the staff went beyond expectations. We may have just been lucky, but every time I texted to request a golf cart ride, we had a knock on our door within a minute--ready to go! Multiple times staff offered us an ice-cold bottled water as we were walking by. Members of the staff struck up conversations, with great suggestions for hikes on the premises, evening activities, and more. We loved every minute of our stay on this beautiful property.

As a regular visitor to our favourite Boulders resort, we were really disappointed with our visit this time. It started with no replies at all to the 2 emails we sent before our trip (normally we got nice replies). We checked in online through the Hilton app the day before our 6 day trip. We especially got up early to check for one of our preferred casitas and we were able to chose our favourite casita number. However to our surprise at checkin the next day the front desk told us our chosen room was not available and gave us another casita (with a worse view). No explanation why our online checked in room had suddenly changed; what is the use of checking in online, as the front desk overrules this later on? The resort is still beautifull amidst the natural landscape, but maintenance of the small bridges is bad, as they almost collapsed when the golf carts went across. Our biggest problem however was the sleep, or lack of it! We woke up one night with the sound of rodents running on wood somewhere in our room. After trying to figure out what or where it was (next too our bed or in the wall?), we found out they were on the wooden ceiling above us. The rodents (mice) were scurrying in the construction between our wooden ceiling and the floor above it. So we hardly slept that night and when we were woken up again 6 times in the following night, because of the mice running above us, we contacted the front desk. They offered to move us to another room with no casita above us, so we had to pack all our bags and move and then unpack everything again in the new room. For the inconvenience of hardly sleeping 2 nights we received a measly 10000 hilton honors points. The new room smelled musty, like it had no occupants for a long time. Actually, it did have some occupants: 6 different type of bugs, including a very large spider near our bed. So this night was also difficult to sleep with the fear of bugs crawling into our bed. We understand that an occassional bug can be found in this desert environment, but we never experienced thiis many (large) bugs before in the Boulders. Seemed like the covid crisis, with less rooms sold and also less housekeeping services, resulted in much more bugs/rodents in the casitas. Besides the bugs issue, we were also woken up that night by a group of our neighbours who were standing outside their casita with luggage, talking loudly and then also screaming in the middle of the night. As we only would stay another day, we didn't want to pack our things again, so we didn't ask to be moved to another casita again. Although we cannot fault the resort for our neighbours actions, we also had neighbour trouble in the first casita. We were bothered by several neigbours smoking on their balcony, including someone smoking weed, which had us flee inside because of the strong bad smell. All in all a very disapointing stay in what used to be such a beautiful and nice resort. Actually of all the hundreds of hotels we travelled to worldwide, this was our most favourite hotel! Unfortunately we won't be visiting this hotel anymore due to this bad experience.

I remembered The Boulders Resort fondly from last visits. However, I hadn’t been there for 15 years, and while the stunningly beautiful natural beauty that surrounds the resort remains, I’m afraid the resort itself is a faded, tired version of the first class resort I remembered. Where to start? It was woefully understaffed. I couldn’t get the front desk to answer a call. They only answered to texts. The golf cart driver said he would soon be going to a four day workweek because of lack of guests. A bridge to our casita looked dangerously unstable. He said it was to be replaced, but the date kept getting pushed back. Our room was just tired. Peeling paint on the ceiling of the shower. Toilet paper holder broke off the wall when used. When I went to check out early this morning, there was no one to help me. I waited. I shouted hello. Nothing. No one. I’d be hard pressed to recommend this resort to anyone, especially when paying $500.

I came as part of a large conference and I cannot say enough about how well the boulders handled this large conference. The service everywhere was outstanding. The food both at the conference and also at the grill was fabulous. The grounds were well kept and beautiful. Highly recommended

We stayed for a girls trip on a long weekend June 3-6. The property was beautiful and staff was top notch! Shout out to Nick at the pool and Billy our golf cart driver, they were so friendly and helpful and made our stay even better! My only complaint was the rooms need a little maintenance, other then that the amenities and property were gorgeous! The front desk staff was very friendly as well! We had a fantastic trip!
