Detailed Reviews
We are multiple vacation owners, who have stayed at Westin Kierland villas over 30 times. We love the property, its location to desired amenities, restaurants, and shopping. The landscaping and maintenance staffs take pride in the quality of the villas and its grounds. Housekeeping is attentive and professional in meeting our needs. But it is the people who make our stays wonderful!
At the Front Drive, Rob, Mark and the staff are generous with their time and attention to our needs. The Front Desk (Gracie, Robert, Antonio, et al) greeted us with warmth and a sincere "Welcome Home" greeting.
The McDowell Market, pool service, and restaurant/bar people are there to serve and please patrons. We name names of those who serve above and beyond our expectations. To name a few (but not all) would include Devon, Dani, Sean (who also does a great stargazing presentation), Juan, Tucker, Joe, and Ryan, et al. The atmosphere is fun, accommodating, and we truly appreciate their service.
Our restaurant portfolio continues to expand, shopping is abundant, and there is a great variety of entertainment and sports venues to enjoy. The bagpiper at the Westin Resort near sunset is always entertaining. Once a high school conference championship tournament was finishing on the last hole as he began his performance - that is the way to play golf! The weather encourages outdoor activities, golf and hiking on the abundance of desert trails. The Westin shuttle service provides great service to patrons desiring to venture off campus.
We look forward to our return in the autumn.

Kierland Villas never disappoints! We have been coming here for 20 years and the property always looks brand new. Currently they are renovating the guest villas building by building with new paint, carpet and fixtures. We come for the pools; there is a family pool and a "relaxation" pool, and enjoy them both. Poolside service is tasty and reasonably priced, and the staff are always friendly and remember you names. Make sure you ask for Justin! I can't spak to the golf, as I don't partake, but it's 3 courses are the big draw. Of course Villas guests are welcome to use all the amenities of the adjacent Westin Kierland resort hotel - inclusing the fabulous pool and lazy river ride. Although we are owners at the Villas, anyone can check the rack rates and book. Often the proces are cheaper than a standard room at the adjacent resport, and of course the Villa rooms are bigger - each has a balcony, bedrrom, bathroom, living room with kitchen or kitchenette.

First things first. This is a separate location from the Westin property with well appointed rooms with kitchenettes right by a pool. It’s perfect for families. The lazy river is a huge hit with lots of activities and dive in movies in the summer. One year they had a watermelon eating contest that was hilarious! Kids can use the clubhouse while grownups dine at Kierland. Deseo is amazing, and if I am not mistaken, they still have the Irish bagpiper who plays at sunset on the golf course. There’s an adult pool and a family pool. Service is great. Quesadillas are yummy and the frozen drinks are a welcome refreshment in the hot desert heat! Kierland is a five minute walk. Ocean Club is a 5* steakhouse that never disappoints. Economic options would be Cheesecake Factory, Grimaldi’s Pizzs, Brio-lots of choices there.

A very basic stay, which we were surprised about considering the high price of the room.
For context, we do “staycations” at various AZ resorts about every 6 weeks so we are quite familiar with the seasonal pricing and offerings of many of the hotel chains. We often stay in either suites or “residences”/“villas” to accommodate our family. These have typically features the usual hotel and resort amenities, and often have private outdoor sitting areas and sometimes private plunge pools. With these being called the Westin Villas, and charging nearly $900/night for a one bedroom suite, we were certainly expecting a similar experience.
Disappointingly, we arrived to find first, that they do not offer valet or bell staff to assist with luggage. Next, that there is no room service, and that housekeeping is only done every other morning and can’t be requested otherwise.
The “villa” was a decent sized one bedroom suite with no private outdoor space. Soap etc was provided, but no other personal care items like cotton pads, dental kits, or nespresso type machine (a regular coffee maker was there). They do have a washer/dryer/dishwasher with soap which is really nice for an extended stay. We did take notice of the mosquitos in the room, which were likely due to the fact that the entrance door had a sizable gap in the seal (photo)—not a great thing on a ground floor in Arizona where all kinds of pests could get in.
We didn’t check out the Villa pool as we headed over to the Westin resort pools for their Lazy River. That feature was cool, but the pool area and chairs could use a good cleaning or replacement as most were dirty/stained and not in great shape.
Overall, this isn’t a bad accommodation, especially for families with kids doing an extended stay and willing to do their own grocery shopping and cooking etc, *however* for the high price it was absolutely not meeting expectations imo.

Our family was very excited to be returning to Scottsdale & to get an opportunity to see what it would be like to be an ‘owner’. Unfortunately this experience most certainly has made us not feel like it would be worth the money spent for this trip.
We arrived on Wednesday and two days late our Room still not cleaned. we were provided with a unit we didn’t request because it was sold out & a first come first serve basis. The shower head doesn’t work probably and the tub water continues to run as the shower head is running.
I don’t normally complain about much but this just wasn’t the experience we were expecting. Each time we called to say something about ‘housekeeping’ missing our room, we were told don’t worry someone will do it tomorrow … uhhhh hello ?!! It’s an inconvenience & I believe part of me staying here is to have the availability of someone being able to clean our room. I’d like fresh sheets, it’s 100+ and i don’t want to sleep in the same sheets three nights in a row.
Pool was great & staff at the market were wonderful as well & being able to go over to the resort pool was fun too. Part of the reason we rave about Marriott or Westin or another brand under these umbrellas, is because of the attention to detail or ‘special treatment’.
Hopefully others don’t have the same experience.

I’m quite disappointed with my recent stay at the Westin Kierland Villas. We had 5 nights booked in an 1 bedroom premium villa and arrived around 7pm the first night and was told that the only room available was a handicap accessible room. I was told the only difference was a roll in shower and lower counters. When we walked in the room was beautifully renovated and we were quite ok with the setup. But as I explored noticed the fridge and freezer weren’t working and a soap dispenser was on the floor in the shower. I called someone in that night to fix the fridge. They reset it and said it should be good to go. We put a few of the groceries we bought in there and when I checked in the morning the fridge wasn’t still working. A lot of the groceries needed to be thrown away. Also during the first night I noticed the pocket door that connected the bedroom to the bathroom was broken. I called the front desk they sent maintenance over to look at the fridge along with pocket door that was broken. And I also noticed the room did not have a jetted tub as what was advertised on what I payed for. I questioned this and was told that the accessible rooms did not have one. I asked front desk if there was anything they could do and they said they would talk to the manager and get back to me. No one ever contacted me. The maintenance crew were great and said they would compensate the spoiled groceries which they credited my bill. We the buy our groceries and the I look to put something in the oven and the room has no oven! I went to front desk asking for a room change as the reason we stay in the premium villa for the oven. Apparently I found out the accessible rooms have no oven. All rooms are supposed to have a convection oven except the accessible ones. No luck on the room switch as they were booked so I was brought a toaster oven.
Last morning of the trip I had housekeeping knocking on my door at 8:30 am asking when I’m checking out. Checkout time was 10 am?
Would I stay here again? absolutely not! Beautiful resort with kind employees but management doesn’t understand customer experience and service matter.
I am used to the Westin villas in Ranch Mirage where the service has a;ways been top notch.

Back for the first time in four years due to cross border travel issues. Had a great time. Staff were awesome, particularly Amanda (iirc) who arranged for us to be able to move directly from one room to another (we had to switch because we had two reservations with different size rooms).
We were glad to see that Tony Miller's wine tastings were back on track, although we missed the actual wine dinners - staff shortages in the kitchen I understand. They wine tastings are a highlight of our trips to the Kierland and I hope they will be there for many years to come. We purchased several bottles of wine to bring home and I am pleased to report that they, and the wine glasses, survived the trip back home.
Rooms were clean and well equipped. It was a bit cold so we never did get to hang out at the pool but the grounds and pool area were impeccable as always. Had a minor maintenance issue but it was dealt with quickly.
Looking forward to our next trip to Scottsdale.

I loved the location and thought the property was stunning. I loved having access to the lazy river at the Westin Resort without dealing with all those crowds when I didn't want to. The quiet pool was where we spent most of our time and it is very serene and beautiful. We stayed in the "smaller" one-bedroom villa and it was, in fact, very small. Not complaining, just something to note. The pull-out couch was not very comfortable (although the king bed in the room was). Having a kitchen was very convenient and added a lot of value to the room, in my opinion. There were also a few times when the hot tub was not very hot, which was a little disappointing considering it was around 60 degrees one of the days. In general, it was a beautiful property and I would recommend it to families coming to Scottsdale. If you want a luxury experience though, I would check out the Phoenician.

Just arrived here yesterday for a week’s stay. Extremely irritated that they refused to let me use a luggage cart, saying that COVID rules don’t allow a customer to touch a luggage cart! They said only an employee could put your luggage on a cart and move it. Obviously, it’s a ridiculous ploy to force you to pay them for extra service you may not want.
Guess what? Although they are so worried about you touching a cart, they have no protocol to constantly wipe of door knobs and lids of the grills. Funny how everything comes down to things that gets them more money. Not impressed at all with the self serving policies of this place. And we have six more nights!
Finally, out of that “abundance of caution” stuff, they did not be put robes in the room that they promised my wife. Half the kitchen items have been removed pursuant to a note in room that says V they’re “reducing housewares and supplies”, and removing “high touch items.” I guess that includes shampoo because there was only one little container for two people to share. The same stupid card in room is entitled “your sanitized sanctuary.” Oh, so they’re cutting back on service and supplies, trying to make you pay for luggage cart use and trying to pass it off like they’re doing YOU a favor, not themselves.

I'm sorry your arrival wasn't a good experience. We did have carts available for guest use prior to COVID and will return to that as soon as possible. All tips to staff are optional and we are happy to provide that service regardless of payment. We do actually have a protocol to clean high touchpoint surfaces on a regular basis. We will reach out to share those with you so you can feel more comfortable while here. While we have reduced some in room items, we can bring those on request. We will reach out to see what we can provide. We absolutely do appreciate your selection of us and want you to have an outstanding stay. Thank you for your comments and know we will try to call you today. Best regards, Scott Caldwell

We (two adults) rented a premium one bedroom villa for just two nights. We had some points we needed to use before the end of the year and Scottsdale is close to home. The villa decor is beautiful; the kitchen is stocked with everything you need to make a simple meal; shampoo, conditioner and body wash dispensers in the large shower; large dining table and big enough living room area. Unfortunately we were on the 1st floor (building 7) so no view from the good sized patio, but still ok. Two pool areas are fine - not crowded at all this time of year. Nice outdoor dining a huge big screen tv at the resort with several fire tables - nice for how cool it gets in the evening. 20 minute walk over to Kierland Commons with lots of restaurants and shops. Did not use any other resort amenities tho they are available to villa guests. Would definitely stay again, and longer!
