Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
At Arizona Grand Resort & Spa, guests have experienced a dichotomy of service, with some applauding the helpful staff, while others encounter unresponsiveness. The resort's amenities are appreciated, yet some travelers point out maintenance and accessibility issues. Room sizes are generally lauded, but concerns over upkeep and outdated decor persist.
Visitors often question the value, citing high costs and additional fees. Although the lobby's atmosphere is inviting, dated areas detract from its charm. The location gains praise for its convenience, and cleanliness receives mixed reviews.

Detailed Reviews
The property is expansive and feels worthy of the “resort” label.
Pros:
1. All suite resort and comfortable airy suite
2. The water park is great for children up to around 14 as there are only three slides (in addition to the splash pad, hot tub, wave pool and lazy river) and so really no queuing for rides required
3. Athletic Club (aka gym if you are not at a resort) is nice and they have a lap pool (lanes on the floor, not lane barriers (and no flags, so no backstroke).
4. Everywhere smells really nice which adds to the ambiance
5. Close to PHX airport ($20 Uber ride/11 mins)
6. Really close to In N Out
Cons
1. Resort prices in the pool - $12 milkshakes and &10 cup of ice cream, $6.50 for a bag of chips
2. The mini bar snacks are left out in full view when you walk into the room so if you have little ones… might want to hide them or rack up a $59 snack bill
In M&Ms and Reeces when you are in the bathroom
3. Bathrooms are dated and really small, hard to shower little ones
4. The sink for the bathroom is actually in the bedroom so risk waking up the family if you use the restroom and (hopefully) wash your hands
5. We were in the Camelback suites and had two queens. One of the beds was really close to the door that you have to walk around it to get in and out, which felt clumsy.
6. Bed sheets came off both mattresses in the night, which makes me think they were too small for the queen beds.

My partner and I stayed at the Arizona Grand for 4 nights for our “baby moon” trip and had a great time!
First of all: the costs to stay were very inexpensive in comparison to other resorts in the Phoenix area. The resort has a lot of things on campus, but we’re from out of state and knew we wanted to see a lot of different things all over, and the resort’s location was perfect for that! We were able to see downtown Phoenix, Tempe, and Mesa, and with no longer than a 20 minute drive from any of those cities.
The customer service was phenomenal. Everybody was so friendly and knowledgeable. The resort has a number to call/text with any questions or request during your stay, which was incredibly convenient and we did use several times! Getting checked into our room was super easy. It was busy when we got there (Friday afternoon so wasn’t a huge surprise) and they were a little behind in getting our room cleaned, so we did end up waiting 15 minutes or so before we could get into our room.
The room itself was in good condition. It wasn’t run down by any means, but a fresh coat of paint and some other minor updates wouldn’t hurt either. Beds were clean and comfortable. I think our biggest complaint was the bathroom is very small (very nice big shower though).
We didn’t golf at all during our stay but it looks like a beautiful course. Oasis water park was nice to have so close - would be a great place to take kids if you have them. Several pools scattered throughout for just the resort guests as well. There are tons of places to eat at the resort, and while we didn’t try everywhere the places we did try were pretty good but nothing to write home about.
All in all: this is a great place to stay and we’ll definitely keep it in mind if we ever make it back to the Phoenix area.

This is a truly great resort. The facilities are stunning and clean. The grounds are maintained very well, the rooms are large and well-appointed, and the premises was festively decorated for the holiday season.
We frequently made use of the lobby building -- especially due to the holiday -- because they had great food (Starbucks + more) for breakfast, and superb gelato at night.
The rooms themselves were clean and spacious with a living area and a bedroom area. Bathrooms were small, but again clean.
We were only able to enjoy the water park on 12/23, because it was closed 12/24 and 12/25. I don't have a problem with this decision; it would make sense to close an amenity for Christmas. What I did have a problem with, however, was the fact that the resort failed to notify already-booked customers of the change from not closed to closed on those dates. When people call your resort and are told (specifically told that the Waterpark would be open 12/24 and 12/25) information you should either make good on your promise or properly notify guests of your change in decision. Adding that information to the website in November, when people have already booked is unacceptable -- not fair notification to those who were misled by your own organizations words. For the sake of others, please at least email or call folks in situations like this is in the future.
To end on a positive note: this resort was truly wonderful and relaxing. We enjoyed all of the features of the resort, and I'm not willing to dock the rating because of this rare inconvenience. The staff was truly great as well. They were so generous to work during these dates and brought the holiday cheer the whole time -- truly wonderful + kind people.

Dear Runtravelrelax, Thank you so much for your wonderful 5-star review! We are thrilled to hear you had such a positive experience at the resort, from our stunning facilities to the festive decorations and great food offerings. We truly appreciate your feedback on the water park and apologize for the lack of communication regarding the closure. We understand how important this amenity is, and we will work to improve our notification process in the future to ensure our guests are fully informed. It’s great to hear that despite this, you still had a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Thank you for your kind words about our staff—we’ll be sure to share your compliments. We look forward to welcoming you back soon for another fantastic experience! Warm Regards, Phil Kneip Front Office Director

We were a group of two mothers with our two daughters from August 3 to 11 for a dance competition. It is important to mention that the cost of accommodation was higher than usual precisely because of this competition. The hotel is supposed to be blocked exclusively for this event, with most people arriving on Friday or Saturday. Our check-in was on Saturday, but the room could not be delivered earlier because the hotel was supposedly fully booked, so we had to wait over three hours in a crowded lobby to get our room. It was handed over exactly at 4 p.m. They don't have a special area for luggage storage; they ask you to leave your bags outside under a canopy where no one watches them, and no control numbers are given for retrieval, so we couldn't leave the lobby as we had to keep an eye on our luggage.
The day before, another mother checked in and provided our confirmation number to request that we be given rooms nearby, to which they responded that it was not possible because the reservation was not made as a group. As a result, when we arrived, we were assigned to a distant building. My friend requested a microwave upon her arrival on Friday, which was provided without any charge. When we requested one at reception, we were told it would be sent, but when I called the next day to inquire about it, they said we hadn't left a card to charge the fee, and they couldn't explain why my friend wasn't charged but we were. It's $10 per night for a microwave!
The worst experience was on the first day of the competition when our room had a strong smell of marijuana, which I immediately reported. Security staff came to inspect but couldn't determine the source and said they would send housekeeping to spray air freshener. Not even 10 minutes later, the smell became even stronger, and our daughters and we started to get headaches. When I opened the balcony door, I noticed that the neighbor was smoking marijuana on his balcony, and that was the source of the strong smell entering our room. We reported it again, and security knocked on their door, but of course, no one answered. I immediately went to the front desk to demand that we be moved to another room because the smell was unbearable, especially for people about to compete, and I was also concerned for our safety as the neighbor realized we had reported him. The manager's response was that they were sold out and only had small rooms available. I asked for two small rooms instead, but she refused and only said they would move us on Wednesday (it was Monday), which never happened. We left without ever being contacted for a room change. It’s unbelievable that the hotel prioritized profit over providing us with two small rooms to ensure the safety and comfort of their guests. We weren’t charged $100 per night; it was much more, and for a prestigious resort, this response is shameful. Additionally, the strong smell of marijuana could be detected in the hallways at various times of the day. It’s unacceptable for a venue hosting a sports event not to have proper security. We are completely disappointed.

Biggest Attraction is Water Park
I booked this as a gift for my daughter-in-law to bring the grandkids here. Coming and going from the main parking lot is literally like being in a sardine can. Tons of people no places to park going around and around in the parking lot till you can find a place in the 115° heat.
Now let’s talk about the room, this room is so old and dated there’s no way I would ever stay here, had it have not been for the water park. I will say that it’s clean. I actually did not stay the night here, but I met them here so I was in the room. The room is semi dark and dated, and there’s no microwave.
Another annoying feature is that they don’t let you check in until 6 PM, really? You pay top dollar and you can’t check in until 6 PM and check out is 11 and they don’t allow late check out at least right now they’re not allowing it.
Next time, I’ll definitely book them another room to come take a little staycation. The waterpark is very nice.
Food is absolutely outrageous. I think it said for a piece of avocado toast. It was $19. Any other breakfast do you wanna order is between 25 and $27 like that is insane. We are not eating here, but hopefully their food is good enough to claim that kind of price tag .

Family trip. We come from humble origins and this was a BIG SPLURGE for us…. Check-in: massively crazy, didn’t get room until way late. Room: Clean, nice, as advertised. Grounds: meh…. cleanish, trash in ponds and on curbs could have been cleaned up. Restaurants: $18 for a drink (weak pours), food was okay but overpriced for okay…. Waterpark: s$@t show, good luck finding a seat, the staff is more interested in checking your bag so you don’t sneak outside food and beverage in so that they can stiff you for another $38 for a cocktail and burger. Slides are a joke, wait 30 minutes for a 3 second experience. One high note for the waterpark, the life guards were dialed! When a whistle would blow a team of them would converge to help in seconds. Housekeeping: these poor ladies are working their tail off, what I’m going to say is not a reflection on them as my grievance is a management issue. 8pm housekeeping service is completely unacceptable! Period. $600 a night and we can’t get ready for dinner reservations because our room has no towels. If your charging Nordy’s price give the Nordy’s service. Arizona Grand you can do better.

The first 4 days were ok , then room service had to be called multipul times to come clean the room daily... total stay was to be 11 days , then on day 5 me and my girlfriend get engaged and come back to no hot water we are advised to move locations , so we did a day and a half later the room moved into says now we have to move again because of bug/pest control. Went back and forth to the lobby as the key 🔑 no longer works 3 times back and forth and the guy at the counter has the balls to tell me to calm down as I'm gettin upset that I'm doing this running around, then security comes to the room to let us in and HE CANT EVEN get in now we wait and wait ... managment has "no clue" about these issues as they don't talk or as soon as the phone is hung up it's not their problem any more theres multipul more issues that i could write but the just has been said ... my new engagement to my Fiance is now been a stress nightmare dealing with the ordeal of getting a room. I wonder if Arizona Grand will have customer service in mind and answer this or contact me directly and make it right.

We had a king room with a pullout for 4 people. The pullout didn’t have any pillows or bedding and we had to call the desk 3 times to get pillows for it. Pull out was stained. TV in the bedroom wouldn’t turn on. Arrived at 3:30 and were told room would be ready by 6. Since when can hotels charge full rates to allow you in by 6 pm? When entering the pool area they checked bags and threw away granola bars I had unknowingly had in my bad from traveling. I am floored, I a grown adult, was searched to enter a pool in hotel that I paid a premium at. Poor customer service and everything is extremely overpriced for unclean and bare bones treatment. Find somewhere else to spend your money.

Beautiful views, especially off the front lobby.
Came as a family of 4 for Spring Break.
We didn’t realize or catch how pricey the resort fees were, on top of the booking. They didn’t ask for our payment of this until we arrived. Not ideal.
The food at the Oasis Water Park area is very expensive and wasn’t very good. They do not allow outside food, but we found the resultant off the front desk/lobby area to be so much better. We wish we would have gone that route more than the pool food route.
The lazy river is a nice touch. The water is warmer but it isn’t “hot” especially in 70 degree weather. Really bizarre but the lifeguards literally push all the extra and empty tubes into the river, really causing an annoying congestion. Every time we tried to help move some off the river and out of the way, a worker would push them back into the river. A lot of other people guests expressed the same annoyance. There were private areas that you had to pay more for and they provided yard games with. No one tried to upsell us on this, which was nice, but we also didn’t know it was an option.
The rooms were interesting. We had a pull out couch that was between a queen and a full size. Not much to the mattress, and we had to request an extra pillow as they only provide one extra.
The toilet and shower area is beyond tiny. You have to move around to even close the toilet room door. There is a lot of room in the bedroom space, so it’s odd the bathroom is seriously so tiny. The shower head is also very low, so if you’re taller, you get to bend to wash your hair. It could use an update. Our balcony was also tiny and hard to move around on with the furniture. It was nice to have a door to open, but again, not the best use of space.
Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Our kids loved it!

Thank you so much for taking the time to let us know about your recent visit to our resort. I am happy to read that you had a mostly positive stay and appreciate your constructive comments on where we can improve our offerings. Please know that your comments have been shared with the Director of Property Operations and their entire staff so that our service levels and accommodations can continue to improve. We do collect resort fee at check-in, we do not want to charge that specific fee prior to the check in date just in case guests need to cancel or do not show up for their reservation. On a positive note, the staff were consistently friendly and accommodating, which helped to mitigate some of the shortcomings of our stay. Despite the drawbacks, we are so glad you family thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Thank you again for your kind review and thank you for your business. Warm Regards, The Arizona Grand Management Team

I brought my family (2 adults, 2 toddlers) to the Arizona grand for 3 days. My kids are 4 and 2 (almost 3), and this was the absolute perfect place for them. They were beyond excited every day to go to the pool/jacuzzi outside our hotel, and the water park was amazing as well. Given their age and swimming ability, we spent most of the time in the shallow portion of the wave pool and the small kid pool. The weather was amazing, and my son scream/cried for 15 minutes once he realized we had hopped on a plan back home away from “vacation”. He still won’t take his water park wrist band off lol.
A few things to note - we stayed in a first floor room (by choice) so the adults could sneak out the back door at night if necessary. That was helpful for us, as we didn’t want to wake the sleeping kids. It was not loud, and we slept great. We were in the Sedona suites, which were maybe a 5 minute walk to the water park.
If you’re thinking of using the gym, I highly recommend it! I was so excited to see such a nice hotel gym. It was a refreshing break from the kids.
I brought a lot of our own food/drink to avoid the insanely overpriced hotel/water park food. There are lots of food places close to the hotel you could go to and avoid 15 dollars for chicken strips. The hotel provides a fridge, but no microwave, so keep that in mind. :)
The rooms were clean, spacious, and perfect for a family. I loved that there was a separate space for the bedroom and the living room - with my kids at the age that they are, that’s the only hotel I’m trying right now. I 100% will be back to this location, and I recommend it to anyone!

Not that I’m aware of, but on the weekend I did notice the restaurant had $18 breakfast buffet.
