We had an incredible week in Samoa staying at Aga Reef. The resort is blissful; quiet, relaxed with beautiful views out to the reef, the beach and the bush line behind. We did not hire a car and the resort were happy to help with transfers to Lalomanu beach (free transfer), To Sua ocean trench, to the fiafia night at another hotel, and to another resort to see the green turtles (paid for). Going for visits to the other resorts made it clear how lovely and peaceful Aga Reef is. The reef was fun to snorkel and kayak on. It is not an adventure filled location, expect to be content with beautiful scenery, warm weather and relax! The restaurant had a fresh fish option daily, including tuna, mahi mahi and snapper, all of which were lovely. The traditional porridge, fresh fruit and the pancakes were some of the highlights of breakfast.
We were lucky enough to be upgraded for free to their VIP villa which was a real treat. It was a beautiful villa with a large balcony and a plunge pool, a very comfortable bed and a fantastic bathroom. The reception area is beautiful, there are paintings of the owners grandparents who started the Aga Reef Resort, lovely to see the family aspect of the business. The gardens were kept really well, our flowers bouquets in our room were rearranged by hand during our stay.
The staff were all friendly and attentive. We unfortunately ran out of sun cream whilst there but the reception were happy to assist us and had some bought to our villa within the hour, particularly helpful as we had visited a local shop the day before which did not stock it so this may have saved us a long trip back to Apia. When we arrived at the airport we were greeted with a friendly Talofa, a cold bottle of water and a beautiful handmade lei.
We could not fault our time in Aga Reef, if you want a tranquil retreat, Aga Reef is prefect for you. I loved our trip to Samoa and would be delighted to stay in Aga Reef again.

Such a beautiful resort to just relax and really unwind. We stayed for 3 nights in an island villa which had a deck over the water and it was amazing! The water was clear enough for me to actually be able to photograph fish from the deck, which was awesome for me as I'm no fan of snorkelling lol! The staff were all friendly and the management were very welcoming and made us feel right at home. The food was excellent, the desserts were fabulous and my favourite part was the delicious cocktails :) Would highly recommend staying or even visiting for a meal, if we ever make it back to Samoa we would stay here again!

Samoa is gorgeous. This hotel location has calm lagoon, green mountain views, and amazing ocean views. We stayed on the island and it was fantastic. The Cabin is comfortable with air conditioning, small Fridge, Coffee / Tea, Shower and Tub. They also have free unlimited Wifi. We loved the deck outside on the lagoon with couch and lounge chair. There are 2 swimming pools and great snorkeling. This was one of the most relaxing vacations we have had. The food was wonderful, the lobster was my favorite. They also have massages on the property, which was very good. They will do laundry (for fee). We watched beautiful sunsets, loved hanging out in the little rock lagoon and took a nice walk down the beach. We are so happy to have been able to spend time in the very special place.

The definition is “a place that is frequented for holidays or recreation”. Ok then. Some resorts are basic, some luxurious and alas, too many claim to be what they are not. Having spent 7 nights at Agareef (3 in a ocean breeze room and 4 in the VIP villa), and having dinner every night at the resort I can say that the restaurant staff is very friendly, though not always very competent; that the food is mostly good, some very good; but the menu has such a limited choice, that we ended up eating the same 2 items during our whole stay. I asked for some variation (same pasta, but with a oil and garlic sauce, not the carbonara on the menu, but no luck). Claimed tour desk ? Unexistent. Suggestions for tours/visits ? None. The room and villa ? The room lived up to it’s description. As far as the villa is concerned, we could see that professional marketeers had been at work…“If you like to combine luxury and beauty with the best ocean view then you just found the right solution. We have also added sun-beds on the large deck…” Yes, the “villa” is nice and spacious, but the “sunbeds” are old wooden lounge chairs without matrasses, so very hard to sit on. Yes, this is Samoa and not the Maldives. But then resorts like this one should charge accordingly or offer the facilities one would expect when paying a top price. Early risers like me (usually 5 am) will find everything locked till 7 am and no place to sit or have a coffee if spouse/partner tend to sleep a bit later, and don’t expect the beaches, nor the mini-pool, to be like in the pictures. So… not a bad experience for Samoa, but do pray for nice weather because on rainy days, the sea gets rough and as the resort if 90 minutes drive from Apia, there is really nothing to do but read. Not a bad pastime anyhow...

We got our resort reception (Aga Reef Resort) to call the tour provider to check if we can be picked up at our resort or meet at Namua Island jetty, instead of Apia. Our resort is only 9 minutes away from the jetty to Namua Island, which seems to be the first stop of the tour after Apia. However, whoever we spoke to on the phone demanded another 50USD if we don't want to start the tour at Apia. They said that because they have to drive all the way over here and there are only 4 of us for the tour. This doesn't make any sense as they have to come all this way to start the tour anyway (?!). Of course we didn't pay an extra 50USD as this is such a cash grab. Instead of making the same amount of money and spending less time taking us around Apia, they chose to forgo the whole income and provide terrible customer service.

My sister and I were staying at a Fale down the road and decided to come here as a treat for the day. We each had a massage, stayed for lunch and cocktails and had use of the infinity pool. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The 60 min relaxation massage with Laga was fantastic, she is an amazing massage therapist! Beef burgers and cocktails for lunch were delicious and very reasonably priced. We had the infinity pool to ourself for most of the afternoon, the view from the pool is stunning. We even had complimentary use of the showers after swimming. Looks like a great place for snorkelling too, saw a lot of fish from the boardwalk. If you are not staying here I highly recommend still coming for a day trip!

So happy to have stayed here and experienced such a relaxing place! Loved it all! The water edge bungalows are spacious and luxurious. To step out on your own deck and see the fish in the clear water below, along with the views had me wondering why I’d even leave the room 😂. Snorkelling and kayaking were amazing. The food was delicious and so tasty! All this (and more), along with the hospitality of the owners and staff at Aga Reef Resort puts it on the list of places to come back to, and stay longer. It is a decent drive from the airport. I used the resort’s shuttle (paid service) but so worth it. There are places of interest to see not too far away. In my short visit I chose to get the resorts shuttle (free) to the nearby beach and hired a Fale for the day. If you’re looking for a lively holiday and lots going on around you then a larger resort would better but if you value great service & food, peace, and beautiful scenery then this is a place not to miss!

If you are looking for pure relaxing paradise, this is the place for it. If you are looking for a busy, noisy and active beach club, this isn’t for you.
We stayed here for three nights but we felt we had been here for three weeks (in a good way!).
The location is stunning but it is isolated. We didn’t have a car so made use of the resort bikes to ride to Taufua Beach Fales for a swim at stunning Lalamano beach and lunch at the beach cafe. The ride is stunning and worth doing as you see so much more than just it in a car.
The resort itself is gorgeous and while not all facilities are open (eg the island pool). There is plenty else to enjoy including the infinity pool, snorkelling, kayaking and the most amazing massages.
This resort really is built for just relaxing (ie there is nothing much else to do). You are immediately on go slow as soon as you arrive but you don’t need to venture far for sights including the trench pool and waterfalls.
We stayed in an Island Villa and had our breath taken away each time we walked in and saw the view. It never failed to amaze us.
The villa was extremely comfortable and clean.
The staff were all amazing, even if some were new and a little inexperienced. What they lacked in experience, they made up for in charm and effort. A special shout out to the front desk team and Rick - all superb!
We will be back!

Small resort with about 10 Fales, distributed on the land and a peninsula accessible via a bridge. Small sandy beach in front of Fales 6 and 7, a large beach me coarser sand next to the complex. The two falses next to our (6) are unfortunately material storage u made an unmaintained impression. Rooms but clean and nice, climate works perfectly. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, the food very good but with only a small selection, which becomes difficult with longer stays. Restaurants in the area are in short supply! Really breathtaking is the environment behind the complex, a steeply towering slope over and over covered with rainforest, really impressive.

We have lived in Samoa for 18 months and have just discovered this beautiful resort.
Idyllic setting over a beautiful reef where you can either relax in tranquility or take to snorkling and other water activities.
The staff are incredibly polite and helpful but also give you that right balance of space you need when unwinding.
The food is the perfect mix of fresh local and quality imported cuisine.
The rooms are spacious and immaculate.
We would would highly recommend this boutique resort.
