Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Disgusting, unbelievable rules. We had lunch here for 117 Tala. When we asked to use the beach for swimming, we were asked to pay another 50 Tala. This place has brought down the level of tourism throughout Samoa. Crazy about money? Highly not recommended.

I love the open fales, I can hear the ocean and see it as I wake up, right there. I love the atmosphere and the natural culture of the Taufua staff. I love the simplicity of the accommodation and the openess of the resteraunt. The way guests eat together makes it easy to meet people and share adventures. I've been 3 times in a year. I think that speaks for itself.

Have been here a few times over the years and the stay is always consistently good but this time the food was even better! We booked an air con unit across the road and an open air beach fale so we could sleep in the fale if it wasn't too hot or use the air con unit as a base with our own shower and bathroom. A few people who were at the beach fales next too us ended up getting units after the first night as it was so hot they couldn't sleep outside, it was 30 degrees at 930pm. January is very humid in Samoa so having the air con unit across the road was good. The aircon units are basic and provide everything you need. When you convert from NZ dollars, this place is actually super cheap considering it includes breakfast AND dinner. The meals are generous portions and have something for everyone. We even had crayfish!! The breakfasts were better than the resort buffet with fresh panikeke, spaghetti, eggs, porridge, bacon fresh fruit etc. The beach in front of Taufua is the best in Lalomanu with not too much coral, nice and sandy. The current at high tide is really strong and our kids who aren't confident swimmers struggled with that. Bring snorkels and when it rains the swimming is even nicer! Don't forget to bring towels! Love Taufua beach fales we will come here again

Obviously gorgeous location - walked in (didn’t book in advance) and booked an open beach Fale right on the beach. Insane! Very friendly owners and I loved how at meal times they put everyone together on one big table. Definitely recommend however just a note that I hardly slept! It was very hot with little wind (not their fault of course but in hindsight I would only hire the open Fales if there is a little breeze). The family / locals also stayed up until around midnight with the children playing so as my Fale was close to the restaurant, that would have kept me up (if it wasn’t the heat!). 130 tala for the Fale - lovely dinner and breakfast which is included in the price.

Stayed at Taufua for 3 nights with our 2 kids (6&8) we booked a villa set in the hillside. These villas use cashpower- a prepaid system like buying prepaid minutes for your mobile phone so if you use it all up running your aircon all day it will certainly run out at which point if you let them know at the office they'll add more minutes to the box. Villas came with aircon, ceiling fan, bathroom and fridge and the standard tea and coffee. Two beds, 1 queen and 1 single bed. The only thing missing for me were towels- it is possible that you just had to ask for these at the office but we had our own towels because I'm fussy. These rooms are new and clean and if sleeping in the faleo'o is not for you, it is certainly a great option. Anyways, the easy all day access to the beach was the big draw card for my family. We were definitely surprised at dinner with the multiple offerings each night and we definitely enjoyed the family style sit down atmosphere and getting to know our fellow travellers. Top 3 dishes we ate here were the sweet n sour fish, lobster - like the whole thing shell and all not the fake ssurimi pretending to be lobster in a salad/roll and a savoury muffin they served at breakfast. We enjoyed our stay and the hospitality of the Taufua family, I would book again.

Do not book here. These people are dishonest and wolves in sheep's clothing. They promise a refund if you cancel within 30 days which we did. I was dealing directly with Taufua Sili and she guaranteed a cancellation. I had to get a third party involved to help communicate a refund. They did the refund but charged me immediately again. Now I have to go through my bank to chase these fraudulent people. Fraudulent service. Beware. See other similar reviews below.

Easy to catch the bus from Apia. It stops at a big supermarket on the way. At the end of the line - it's Taufua. About two hours for the trip. Back staying in a villa a short walk up from the beach. Had aircon, fan and en suite, plus fridge. But that was good only when the electric power was working. we had a few days and nights when the power was off for long times. The worst thing was the darn dogs running loose around the villa. These were dogs brought by guests. I was shocked seeing the dogs brought into the dining room. The staff did nothing to clear them out. Then there was the late night barking from visiting dogs fighting local dogs. All meals were quite good and varied. The beach water was great for swimming but not much fish life.

I loved it at Taufua - it's unassuming and celebrates the simplicity of experiencing Island life on holiday 🏝️ Basic fales with options of no aircon or walls situated on the beach or choose a unit with kinda more comfy beds and aircon. Breky and dinner supplied and friendly staff. I was very happy with the price and location
