Taumeasina Island Resort is celebrated by many for its stunning location near Apia and its picturesque beachfront views. While its rooms are generally appreciated for their cleanliness and spaciousness, a handful of guests have mentioned noise disturbances and sporadic housekeeping issues. The lively atmosphere, complete with music and entertainment, is a hit, although it may detract from the tranquility for some.
Despite the range of praised amenities, concerns have been raised about their upkeep and the resort's perceived value, with criticism focusing on the cost of food and additional charges. Service quality seems to be a mixed bag, receiving accolades for staff friendliness but also suggestions for improved consistency.

Was thoroughly impressed with all aspects of this hotel. Staff friendly and able to offer assistance with everything we needed. Excellent dining options including buffet restaurant, a la carte restaurant, bar and smaller snack/lunch options. Food always came out on time, very good quality and reasonably priced. Buffet breakfast also included with room, options available changed daily so good variety and quality. Room was a good size for two people, clean, serviced daily. Beautiful facilities including large pool, small beach, plenty of outdoor furniture. Free wifi available throughout hotel, good connection.
I feel that at a resort it's the small things that make the biggest difference and Taumeasina provided lots of nice touches to make the stay fantastic.

Absolutely beautiful location. The staff were super lovely and accommodating. If you are looking for luxury, peace and quiet, beautiful scenery and real relaxation, this is the place to go. I had asked for a romantic dinner on the beach - the staff went above and beyond for us to make it extra special. We are thrilled by the service we received and will definitely be back. Thank you.

My mum, sister and I stayed at Taumeasina in April for a week. It was fantastic. We had arranged a transfer from the airport due to an early arriving flight and were greeted warmly and driven to the resort where we were checked in and able to head straight to our rooms. Our rooms had amazing views out over the water and were very comfortable. One day it was not cleaned, but after a quick call fresh towels were brought up and beds made up. We enjoyed relaxing by the pool on the comfy day beds, eating at the restaurant and trying the activities provided. it would have been nice to have some local options on the menu regularly however I never had a meal that I did not thoroughly enjoy. The Fiafia buffet was tasty, however it would have been good to have more signs of what the different foods were. The spa treatments were also enjoyable. The entertainment at night in the bar was lots of fun, especially watching the karaoke and the dancing!
A highlight was the ability to snorkel right off the beach at the resort. The staff at the resort were welcoming, friendly and went out of their way to help. A huge shout out to the Activities guys, especially Junior, Sean, Johnny and Sioni for their enthusiasm and good humour. We enjoyed learning about weaving hats and baskets, having a go at elei printing for our own lavalavas and watching Junior climb the coconut tree for fresh coconuts! Also a big thank you to Pesamino and Annie in food and beverage who always had a smile every day and also Operese at the front desk who was a wonderful help on our last day as we were checking out at 2am (apologies if any names are spelt wrong). I have recommended Taumesina to friends and would definitely consider visiting again in the future.

Where do I begin? What an impressive hotel this is, with views out from I would say every room to the ocean. There is a small beach with jade green, clear waters where one can snorkel and swim in safety. There are three restaurants, which all mesh together with the same menu. One alacarte Sina, which was not open whilst we were here, a disappointment. There is a huge bar area. The prices are very high for both food and drinks. The service is not up to standard. The rooms - bed comfort was ok, the layout was not the usual hotel layout and unfortunately this does not work. The is no lounge in the room to sit, instead the bed head is used as a desk, the only place to sit in the room apart from the bed. There are no draws to use to unpack, only one coat hanger in the closet and nowhere to put your luggage. We used the bathroom and the desk to place our luggage. The bathroom is again a different design with shelving that is not wide enough. The shower is great, rain shower and a normal shower heads. The glass door to the shower is slides across the toilet area when in use. Tea, coffee and water are provided. The water is only given once and you head to the bar for them to refill. The only decent mirror is in the bathroom. Hair dryer supplied but it is old. Rubbish bins need replacing to a more open style. The food - first night was a buffet dinner which was dreadful, so we avoided buffet dinners, apart from the seafood buffet which is on Friday nights. Breakfast buffet is woeful so be aware. We ordered food from the menus which was passable but had one dish of fish that you could not even cut with a knife. The tapas menu food was good. Activities - this is a resort which has an activities team a plus for this resort. Particularly loved printing sarongs. There are kayak tours, snorkelling tours, weaving classes, etc on offer. This area of the hotel facilities is great and more emphasis in making this a prime feature of the hotel may well be needed. There is a tour desk but again they lack enthusiasm and direct you to the internet to do your research and book tours. Most of the chairs in this resort are very low and not comfortable. It is difficult times here with staff shortages and only coming out of covid in March, so a lot of work needs to be done to make this the 5 star resort it should be.

Room: When we first got there we were upgraded to a villa, however when we entered it smelt damp, there was leaking of the washing machine and the vent above the dryer was also leaking. One of the rooms had a leak as the carpet by the wardrobe was wet.
Apart from that the room was very spacious, and view was beautiful.
Room service: we were over charged and it took over an hour for the food to arrive. The room service delivery worker was cery polite and adjusted the over payment.
When we requested our room to be clean, only the towels were changed and rubbish removed. For what people pay at this resort rhe rooms need to be alot more presentable and thw quality of towels and linens need to be better.
Restaurant and bar service: More training needs to be done with the staff. We shouldnt have to always go up and ask for drinks when dining. There were 3 of them standing behind the restaurant dining desk and alot of staff just standing around in general. When they could have been clearing up tables, asking guest if they would like drinks etc. The pool requires more staff to walk around and the cleanliness at some of the pool side tables was poor. The uniform they had staff wear looked awful for them in the heat. They wore black pants in that heat and you could see some of them were struggling. It took over an hour at times for us to receive our drinks or food. Although there were delays and inconsistencies? The staff were very friendly.
Overall it is a beautiful resort with poor service and at times dirty amenities. Although the service was poor and the food was pretty average we still enjoyed our time as we were with family and friends. The pool itself was amazing and the beach was beautiful too.
Day Spa: we had amazing massages and the spa smelt amazing as well. Staff were very welcoming and did great jobs wirh our request.
Entertainment: Was great we enjoyed all the evening activities from FiaFia, ladies night, Karaoke and Trivia night.
Overall I think of guest are going to pay foe this resort they need to do something about their cleanliness, service to guest and food. A pool bar would be a great as well, then we wouldn't have to go inside to order our drinks all day.

The only downside is that the food is not good but other than that this place has everything down pat! The location is very close to Apia town on a private island that you can drive to. We stayed in a 3 bed villa that had 4 air con units in it. There’s several pools of varying depths which is great for kids of all sizes. The view was amazing all though there’s an unfortunate smell which wafts over every now and then I think from the surrounding water. There’s a small playground and the grounds are very well kept. The staff are lovely, polite, helpful and accommodating. There was one incident where I misread the body language of the Indian man who was managing the cafe staff and I asked him about what he was saying and he was very professional and polite and the took the time to diffuse the situation. The breakfast buffet included was run by very friendly and attentive staff, one gentleman in particular stood out as he remembered everyone’s orders and faces. The food was not great though.

We found it a very noisy place to stay and regularly woken due to noise from neighbouring guests coming through walls and ceiling. Very congested area swimming beside those dining and the pool area looking tired with tiling and timber needing attention (timber planks have lifted, tiles missing). Needs to be more shade around pool so guests can walk from the pool after swimming without severely burning their feet. We felt in need of a deep clean. Staff were lovely and wonderful but we found our stay more hectic than relaxing.

My family and I had a fantastic experience at Taumeasina! Ifo went above and beyond to ensure that our rooms were always clean and promptly tended to any service requests, especially when it came to me and my kids in room 608. We truly enjoyed our stay, and Ifo's exceptional service made it even more special. Thank you to Ifo and the team at Taumeasina for making our stay so memorable!

i am samoan and am proud.. but when i stayed at this hotel, my family and i were treated like second class citizens.. it felt like they catered to you if you were white.. otherwise you were treated like a nobody here. and we were a huge family spending a whole lot of money here. we also were overcharged several members of mine. we paid cash and then when we checked out several of us had charges to food we paid cash for, so be careful when u travel here and in large groups. they didnt allow us to eat our outside food at their lobby, they want u to spend all ur money at their hotel on overpriced mediocre food.. they would bring us the wrong order and told us that the hotel makes the employee pay for the food if the order is wrong.. we found out how much the employees make so now we feel guilty that they brought the weong order to us so now we have to pay for food we did not order. the security demanded we provide the room numbers and id at the gate, mind you we just came from a long funeral and just want to rest.. none of us got the lei that they give all the white folks, so it was just all so weird.. felt like u gotta be white to get treated like guests at their hotel that we paid to stay there. we will never ever stay there again, and we travel there every year.. they do not deserve our hard earned money.. oh, and who puts up all the chairs when ur trying to enjoy a cocktail?! like the bar wasnt even closed yet but they put up all the chairs around us making us feel like we had to leave.. im confused, do u want us to spend money there or not?! smfh

Talofa Lava Thank you for your review, and spending hte time to reveiw your stay with us. We have noted all of your comments, but i find it interesting that 70% of our guests are diaspora and have not experienced the same. We do not allow guests to eat food from outside in public area, and to my knowledge no hotel in the world allows this. Yes we are a business, and we do not allow guests to bring their Mcdonalds or Pinati in and sit aroudn in public areas, and consume, you are more than welcome to consume that in your room. You should have been provided leis on arrival, and this is the fault of the staff, but i can gurantee you that it has nothing to do with your ethnicity. All guests are asked for ID at the gate, after midnight, whether you are of Samoan decent or from anywhere around the world If you had experienced problems, perhaps you could have spoken to a manager whislt you were onsite, rather than turning to this medium after you had left. I am sorry that this was your experience Thank you once again Warmest Regards

We arrived in Samoa for a wedding for my husbands personal assistant which was a privilege to be there for the experience.
Michael greeted us at the reception desk at 5am & was very helpful, he had one of the boys (whom was a gentleman & very helpful) take us to our room 111 which we loved
Michael gave us a wake up call at 8am for breakfast & greeted us in the reception with a welcoming entrance. All staff at the Taumeasina resort in Samoa were very caring & delightful to talk to including the hard working ladies & gentlemen that cleaned our room & surroundings. We had a great time with Nathan & Michael at the management meet guest night they were very accommodating & made us feel very welcome.
The only disappointment was on a special night for my husband & I, was one of the staff members being rude & ignorant to my husband making us leave after an 1 hour wait on a specially pre ordered meal. Michael & his restaurant manager soon arrived to our room with our order & complimentary bottle of wine which we very much appreciated. We had the most relaxing time on the resort & loved our day of touring the island of Samoa.
We will definitely be coming back to this resort for a much needed relaxing time & massage which was very destressing. Thankyou to Michael & all his staff for making this experience enjoyable. We would not hesitate to recommend this resort for a wonderful relaxing experience.
Best wishes Gary & Heather Booth South Australia
