Had the pleasure of staying here recently with my family of 3 adults & 2 children (11yrs and 2 yrs) for 9 nights. We took advantage of a package deal which included airport transfers, continental breakfast, rental car use of an 8 seater van along with 2 complimentary tickets to their Fiafia night - worked out to be good value considering the inclusions offered in the package deal.
We booked a 2 bedroom Villa that perfectly suited our needs as we wanted the flexibility to self cater meals if we so desired, as well as have the luxury of a little more space than that which an average hotel room offers ( often quite cramped especially if 2+ people are being accommodated in 1 room and you're needing to stay more than a couple of nights)
Our Villa had 2 bedrooms with 2 double beds in each. Bedrooms were both fitted with air con units and living area had a ceiling fan. Room layout was single storey - perfect for families with young children - so you needn't worry about the kids tumbling down the stairs. Kitchen was well equipped with Fridge/Freezer, microwave, electric stove top and sufficient crockery, glassware and cutlery to make for a functional kitchen. Villa also had a car port attached to the side which guaranteed you a car park space as well as two seated patio areas that were attached via internal access from each bedroom.
If you happen to be staying in-house on a Thursday - be sure to check out their Fiafia night.Wonderful performance showcasing islands of Polynesia. Swimming pool was well utilised by the kids as well - this was directly across from our room (but far away enough that you couldn't hear any noise).
Although the resort is located approx. 5 mins drive from Apia center it was nice to escape the hustle of the city and be able to enjoy the view down to the sea amongst the lush green surroundings. In saying that, having access to your own transportation is recommended.
Staff were wonderful, always smiling and ever so accommodating to our needs. Nothing was ever to much to ask for. Special mention and thanks to Terence, Leilani and the 2 lovely housekeepers who serviced our room daily - thank you for making our stay not only memorable but most enjoyable. We were unfortunate to experience a mechanical issue with the rental car we were issued which understandably was no fault of their own, however this was swiftly rectified by the staff and we were back on the road with little inconvenience.
Lovely family run business with personalised service that genuinely show interest in their guests. There are bigger chain hotels nearby however, they appear to have lost the focus of genuine samoan hospitality and are more focused on meeting profit demands of their offshore investors.
If you're looking for accommodation that is similar to apartment style with separate bedrooms, living area and kitchen facilities - features which your average hotel room are not generally equipped with then look no further!

Although the hotel is very beautiful, location is great very tidy and clean there is absolutely no whatsoever customer service. The cleaners were great and the friendly guy whos normally at the bar but everything else was very disspointing. I read some other feedbacks on the resort and some said when they checked out it was way more then they thought it would be, I found it very true. I'm sure we got ripped off but it being hot, muggy and ready to go home again I just wanted to go. to have an extra adult for 5 night came to SAT200.00 on the website it said US15.00 a night how does that add up to be SAT200.00??
Sometimes the pool was closed off during because there be an event happening around the pool area which was pretty annoying.
Ordering lunch took over a hour and half. Drinks were expensive just top up your fridge by buying from supermarket or local shop because the food and drinks are overpriced at the resort.
When we originally booked for 4 people the price included complimentary breakfast so it was SAT$305.00 a night. The website we booked on was www.samoahotels.ws Then to find out in the morning the resort does not do complimentary breakfast. I spoke with the receptionist and explained we paid thinking it included breakfast and it was saying on our reservation. Reception called the agent and the agent said that they were liable at fault because they never updated there information, the manager said to me that they have never once done complimentary breakfast. We ordered breakfast before we were getting billed I didn't want to kick up a fuss but I was still pretty annoyed with the situation. I would have thought because what happened they would not charge us breakfast for the one day when we checked out surprise surprise we were charged for it.
Another thing I was not happy with was my dad was visiting a family member and he had the keys to our room, so I asked the reception the managers wife at the time for spare keys she happy to give. We were heading to town that night so we locked up the room and I went to give the key back to reception and I'm not sure if its the managers son but young guy was at the desk on the computer with headphones on. I told him these were the spare keys he looked abit unsure so I explained to him and he took them from me. We were in the car about to leave untill my sister said she had forgotten something in the room so I told her to go back to reception and ask the young guy. I saw her run to our room to find out he gave the wrong keys, she went back to him and she told him they were the wrong keys. He said they shouldnt be because they are all the same and work for all room ????? she spent 5 minutes with him because he was asking her we must have given the spare key to some other guy. I went back to reception and he said I never gave him any keys, questioning me saying are you sure it wasnt this guy pointing outside. I said look it was you ok you. I gave the keys just 10minutes ago and explained to him that he was on the computer with headphones. I remembered giving him key with a green tag he grabbed a set of keys that were green I said no thats not it the one I have you were green and I saw them right next to him and pointed. After this incident I just lost trust in this resort.
Would I come back and stay here yes surpriseling the answer is YES! but I now know what to expect. If your staying here make sure your checking cost with receptionist how much your paying etc.

You must realise you won't get the kind of 5 star hotel or even service for that matter, that you would in other countries, in Samoa. Once you realise that you will enjoy your trip so much more. I think that's why there have been some negative reviews about this hotel.
Once you can get into Island time, you will be fine 😄
This hotel is excellent for a family we stayed in a suite which has the biggest living room apparently. We had one bedroom up one bedroom down, both with air conditioning.
We hired a car from them too with no hassles. And cheaper than we found elsewhere.
The pool is exceptional, food was fine too, from the restaurant. It is a little bit away from the city but you will need a car for everything you don in Samoa anyway.
Daniel the owner was really helpful in every way.
Would highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed here for our last 3 nights in Apia before heading back to Australia. We were a family of 21. Upon arrival the place looked ok, however there was a lot of disappointment. Each family checked into their own rooms, we were in suite number 3. No TVs were working, the dishes were washed and sitting in the rack on the bench. The fridge had mould around the outside of the seal. We had bed bugs it was disgusting ! On one of the double beds the mattress was so thin you could feel the slates underneath, that was the most uncomfortable sleep for 3 nights. I literally couldn’t wait to leave Samoa. The staff were nice and helpful and anything we needed they were onto it. About 2am the next morning the water was cut off so we couldn’t flush the toilet, there was no running water till about 10am that morning. Next night the power got cut off for awhile and there was no gas so we had cold showers. Our kids were looking forward to swimming but they had just put the chlorine in the pool, it was green and pretty gross. They said they are closing down and renovating the whole place but my issue is we booked well in advance for our group. Why take our money if the rooms were that bad. I would not stay there again. The place has potential but it needs so much work. Don’t false advertise about the hotel, there is no gym & the pool wasn’t cleaned it was out of order!

This hotel kept our deposit for a large group, when approached they refused to give our money back with 2 weeks notice they werent interested. They even lied about the Manager not being there when he was. He hid somewhere on the resort. Very disappointing, not visitor friendly disappointing for Samoa as we were welcomed with open arms elsewhere.

Response from Terence S, Public Relations Manager at Samoa Tradition Resort
Responded 13 Jul 2015
Talofa Brumbygirl, Samoa Tradition Resort would like to respond to this review, however feels it appropriate that it be clarified as to what group the client was part of, and if the client was of the governing body of this particular group or organization to which the group is/was part of. Samoa Tradition Resort has no record of accommodating Ms Brumbygirl during the month of June. Samoa Tradition Resort wishes to assert that it is not in the company’s interest to attain funds in any unlawful manner, and strongly condemns the accusation of having obtained ‘stolen’ deposits. The property also wishes to aver that any and all deposits held by the property are done so in accordance with the company’s terms and conditions for bookings with us including those for cancellation. Samoa Tradition Resort wishes to proclaim that all bookings that are entered into our systems will have had to have accepted the above terms and conditions in order to be confirmed and secured. Our systems confirm that “Brumby Girl” was part of a group that booked with us thru an Agent; however the same group failed to show up and was penalized under our cancellation policy. I would strongly advise Brumby Girl to clarify her concerns with this Agent instead of making false accusations against Samoa Tradition Resort. STR is happy to provide all the evidence and information to support our side of the story if necessary including an alibi of our Manager who was also accused of hiding somewhere when Brumby Girl presumably visited our beautiful Property. Samoa Tradition Resort appreciates all customer feedback, and assures that feedback received will be used for the betterment of our services. Any and all issues raised will be reviewed and looked into in order to ensure our services meet the quality expected by our valued customers.

I stayed in a Villa for 6 nights while on business. The Villa had 2BR/1BA and was USD190/night. It was worth about USD100/night. It wasn't a particularly large Villa and the housekeeping was subpar. The restaurant was not very good, either. I didn't have one decent meal from the restaurant yet I seemed to be paying premium prices. Also, there is a very liberal use of paprika not as a spice, but as a decoration. I know this because it was sprinkled on my fruit plate. If the price of the room and the food was less, I might have just accepted everything as it was. But at nearly USD200/night, I expected a lot more and at a minimum, having my bathroom fully cleaned every day or even wifi in the room. I wouldn't stay here, again. I know of many other less expensive accommodations in Apia that are far nicer and have better amenities.

We arrived and everyone was very friendly. The view was beautiful as it is in the hills area, away from the main part of town. We booked a two bedroom apartment (on the web) as two of us were travelling for business. We were asked to use only one room to save electricity. When we used both bedrooms we were told we would be charged extra. We found the apartment to be spacious, however it was shabby and we had to sweep the rodent poo of the beds. When we checked out the bill was much higher than quoted on the web. We were not impressed.

Stayed with family at the beautifully designed Traditions Resort in Ululoloa for 2 weeks. We had 2 suites and 3 apartments for our party of 20. One suite had an a.c. that didnt work, an apartment that the a.c. leaked, and two where the hot water would give out. All issues were addressed and resolved when brought to staff's attention. Other than outside light bulbs not being replaced and one of the apartments kitchen faucet being repaired, staff was pretty responsive to issues brought to their attention. Rooms were cleaned daily, though not always to my standards. I expect the bathroom sinks & surfaces wiped down daily they werent always. Towels were refreshed daily even when not left on the floor. What made the maids job difficult was termites! Even after daily cleaning, termites chips or sand like damage would litter the areas they were in! Hopefully none have hitched a ride in any of our suitcases! Pool was a great asset but needs more maintenace or care than given. It should be cleaned and treated daily but it seemed like it was on a weekly cleaning. Fiafia night should not be missed if here on a Thursday night! The food is ok but show is pretty good. And everyone agreed, while the staff was good, and facilities adequate, the packaged "deal" wasnt much of a deal in the end. For the same $380 WST/night rate, we would not stay here again. Shame as location close to town and sliding rocks, and building design and attention to traditional design details could make this hotel stand out among others on Upolu!

Check out on a map or google earth how to get to this Resort before it gets dark. Otherwise you will possibly end up roaming the hills above Apia unnecessarily and might miss the start of this cultural performance .... and the opportunity for you to request a song. The band sang "Sosefina" for us - brilliant. For just fifty tala each we got a delicious buffet meal and the performance in which the dancers and singers covered items from five pacific island countries, ending with the fire dancers. One of the highlights of our trip.

My family and I had the privilege of staying at the Samoan Traditon Resort for 10 days in May / June 2013. It is the first time we have been back to Samoa in 16 years and due to having my elderly mother and infant son we required an air conditioned room.
We stayed in the Villa 2bedroom unit and it was exactly what we needed as it had cooking facilities, air conditioned rooms and the amenities exceeded our expectations. This is the first time we have NOT stayed at our family village so we thought we would feel like we're staying at just another 'hotel' but Dan, Terry, Pale and the team made our stay feel like we had known each other for ages and we felt right at home. They cared for my Mum and went out of their way to make our stay memorable. The accommodation is quiet, the views beautiful and my GOODNESS the food at the restaurant is of a high quality. We were picked up from the airport by Terry on time and hired a great vehicle from the resort which was super convenient. They arranged everything.
We would not hesitate to stay there again and have recommended this venue to our families for the next reunion.
May The Lord continue to bless and prosper this wonderful business and The Su'a Family
