Detailed Reviews
Now that we have returned home, on behalf of my family I wanted to thank you and your staff for making our stay with Orator Hotel such an enjoyable and peaceful experience.
I come from well over 30 years in the customer service industry and during our stay, we noticed that your staff only displayed warm friendly smiles at all times, showed a willingness to always assist us with our luggage, directions of around the hotel, to answering any queries we had. The breakfast was always delicious, empty used plates were never left on our table for more than a few seconds, the breakfast staff were always so lovely and approachable.
The establisment itself is certainly a place that gives a deep feeling of serenity and peacefulness, specifically the reception foyer was always kept clean and in order, the location of the hotel was and is perfect and safe for those who like ourselves, prefer to avoid the hustle and bustle of the township whilst still only a 5-8 minute drive away from the hub.
The villa we were allocated was huge and beautiful with a great size bathroom and shower. We appreciated the cupboard and luggage storage, allowing us to still enjoy the full extent of the villa.
We brought our 86 year old mom one day to have a look at the hotel and she just fell in love with the place. She managed to walk to our villa, having 4 breath stops on the way. Her amazement at the beauty of the hotel far outweighed any gripes she may have had of the distance.
Your reception, porter and bar staff demonstrated consistent professionalism, caring and great team work. Thank you for the welcome beverage on our arrival and particularly for the farewell performance on our departure. We felt very special and humbled.
Last but not least, my family have come away from this awesome experience that they will always remember, reminisce and talk about for many many years to come.
Finally and most importantly this experience included meeting Charlotte Brunt (GM of Orator Hotel) thank you for sharing the Orator space with us all, we were elated to have met lau afioga, making our stay complete.
So on that note beautiful Orator Hotel. Thank you for everything. God bless you all, may 2025 bring you prosperity, good health and happiness.

We booked 3 rooms, 1 room you could tell was recently upgraded, the other two were not. That being said, all rooms were clean and comfortable. The property is lovely, but what made our stay memorable were the friendly and helpful staff. Anna and Aiga, and a young man who all worked the front desk were friendly and helpful.
When we visit we like to stay at locally owned and operated hotels, and this one was great. We did have Sunday Brunch - and it is supposed to be to be a buffet- unfortunately many of the main dishes did run out very quickly. Food was delicious, but we were disappointed that after only being open for about an hour, we had just got there and many of the dishes were already empty.
Would definitely stay here again.
Hopefully next time the lovely gift shop will open.

I didn't stay here this time, but came for the the Sunday lunch buffet.
This buffet is the best on the island.
They do all the local favourites prepared to the highest standard.
The service was friendly and chef Mani does an outstanding job.
The owner Charlotte is lovely and welcoming, and the property itself is beautiful and not too far from anything you need.
Highly recommend

We paid 85tala for food that was poor quality. The lasagna tasted like plastic, the Palusami was undercooked, and there wasn’t much variety of desert. The poi was very runny. If you’re charging 85tala, at least have some lamb, or pork; quality food. I could have gone to paddles and bought great quality meals for less than that price. Very disappointing.

I was trying to give this place a chance as it is close by to my house. However, the last few attempts at dinner have been disappointing.
The garden is nice but that is really the only positive. Probably a good place to have an after work beer.
Food is below average but acceptable if you are after generic pub food. However, on both visits at least part of the meal was cold.
Staff are friendly but horribly incompetent. On one occasion they messed up the bill and it took half an hour to leave. Both visits saw the order messed up. I asked for vinegar for my chips and recieved a small bowl of dishwashing detergent. Unfortunately I didn't notice until I had already put this on my chips! It took at least an hour to get the horrible taste out of my mouth! They gave me a couple of free beers, but my learning curve is likely not shallow enough to return in the near future...

Went for the Sunday toana’i and paid $85. The food was very basic for the price. For $85 youd expect to have lamb, pork or some steak. They only had chicken and some pork which was mostly fat. Not many options for dessert

I got married at Orator in October and it was everything I wanted AND MORE!
Super helpful, service was awesome and my guests who stayed at Orator thoroughly enjoyed their stay . Especially my Papa who still raves on about how gorgeous the reception area, complimentary brekkies and service was.
Thank you very much Charlotte and Leata for the great comms with me and making my day absolutely beautiful!

Great food. Every morning we had breakfast. Their famous Sunday Toona'i was awesome. So many options to pick from. Staff was very friendly. If you're looking for a private place away from Apia with all the hustle and bustle this is the place to be.

I have really mixed feelings about this hotel. It is a lovely garden setting with beautiful flowers and pathways around the resort, and the rooms are clean and very spacious (I had three beds in mine). The bathrooms are clean and spacious, and had hot water which seems to not always be the case in Samoan accommodation. There were a couple of bugs/lizards in the shower but that doesn't bother me - it is Samoa after all. The air con worked fine, and was a god send, as was the mosquito netting on all the windows. There was an indescribable weird vibe in this hotel, and it seemed very empty and like I was the only person there a lot of the time. I made a last minute booking online and was then told I could not stay there as they were fully booked. After arguing with them, they suddenly said it was ok for me to come. When I arrived it seemed there was no one else there, despite the large amount of villas/rooms they seemed to have. I can't figure out what this was about. More guests arrived the next day, but they still seemed to not be anywhere in sight for more than 5 minutes. There were always alot of staff working at any time and they would always meet my requests. It would be great if hotel information could be put in the rooms - ie a menu for the restaurant/bar, details of when you can get breakfast, services available etc, as it was a bit of a guessing game. It seemed that the staff thought I was perhaps weird for travelling alone, and a big deal was made by every person I met about me being alone which made me feel uncomfortable and I felt like I had to explain myself and be met with weird stares all the time. A staff member even asked me why I chose to stay there and said she was surprised I was staying there, and surprised I had come to Samoa. Another staff member told me I must be rich because I could afford to stay there. Again that made me feel very uncomfortable. The food was good, and I was pleasantly surprised by the number of vegetarian options they had on their menu. There was free bottled water and a fridge in your room, which was very much appreciated. The bar sold a range of cold drinks to purchase also.
One male staff member was overly friendly, and when I was in my room, came up the stairs on my balcony and sat at the table outside my door, and proceeded to talk to me through the half open window as I sat in my room - for a solid half hour or more. Other staff members walked by, and spoke to him in Samoan, laughing... but did not seem to tell him to go away, so they knew what was going on and I didn't feel comfortable talking to anyone about it, nor did I feel comfortable telling him to go away, so I tried to make out I was very busy and told him to get back to work, which he ignored. He seemed like he was just being friendly and wanted to make friends, but it made me very uncomfortable, and he made a point of finding me around the hotel, and even stood by my table pretty much the entire time while I ate lunch in the restaurant which made me very uncomfortable. He asked questions about my boyfriend and asked whether I have any friends back home for him etc. I don't want him to be in trouble as I think he was just a nice boy, but for someone from a Western country this behaviour is unnerving and unprofessional. Other staff members were hanging out in or on the balcony of other villas during the day and night, and whether or not this is normal and the villas were empty, it did make me feel like there were no boundaries and I didn't feel like I could fully feel secure in my villa. There were a couple of dogs and cats roaming the grounds, and it is unnerving for a foreigner to have wild and sick looking dogs sitting on their porch, but I do understand that this is not necessarily something the staff can control. A staff member told me the kitchen does feed the animals some times, which made me happy.
This hotel is beautiful and the rooms are clean and spacious, and the food is good and plentiful, as are the cold drinks and free bottled water, but I do not recommend it to females travelling alone and I would not stay there again, with or without others. I cannot put my finger on it, but there is just a strange atmosphere and I see this has been noted in other reviews too. Thank you to all the staff who assisted me during my time there.

After reading reviews on trip advisor, I thought that management would've fixed this... I was proven wrong. Upon arrival, we were left waiting as they could not find the key. They opened the room for us, but when we wanted to go out and explore, we realised they hadn't given us a key. When we asked for a key, staff were left scrambling and gave us the house keeping keys. The house keeper arrived the next Morning and demanded the key back which we refused until we were given a guest key.
When we went to the pool, the lights mentioned in a review were still floating about (the review was written approx 1 year prior to our check in) and water was very murky. Something minor... But maybe Orator needs to get their signage for pools spell checked as cargo is not gargo (lol) and no "P" in the pool may need to be rewritten. We ordered from the dinner menu, we ordered curry which was $38 per plate, we spent $76 on food that tasted disgusting. Our water went out on the 2nd day, they told us that it would be fixed in the next few minutes, it ended up taking the whole day... This could've been communicated to us, but instead we had to keep calling reception to try and get answers. The tv was very blurry which would hurt our eyes and the room advertised and paid for was not what we received, I paid less at Aga Reef and got perfect service. We had no fan, aircon was hot, service was bad and the hotel did not follow it's own noise curfew when hosting functions. Oh and the fruit platter was non-existent. They even tried to say upon our departure that I did not pay, I had to show them the receipt I was emailed. I won't be going back there, even if I was desperate.
