I was told this place was quiet and would be ideal for a student like myself. There are other homes in the area that blast the same rock songs all day long- sometimes late into the evening! Towards the end of my stay, I had to ask for clean linens and was told that his wife had been "very busy" the last few days- (Um. Excuse me, but I PAID in full for this and now I have to wait until when???) The place is infested with termites, ants, and roaches. I spent a couple nights in other places to see if I could change accomodations and those places were just as open and airy but without all the nasty bugs. The mattresses are also infested with bedbugs....doesn't make for pleasant sleeping! I was also told that I would have access to the wi-fi. When I got there, it was not wi-fi and I had to pay dearly to use fiafianet which crashes more than it stays up. NOT a good feature for submitting reports back to the university!!!!!!!!!! I felt as if I were being nickle and dimed the whole time I was there. Oh, and the hike up to the bungalow??? Killer views if you can survive the hike! Be prepared to hike up your own water unless you are willing to once again pay for water to be brought to you. (I was not told this, either...) The fridge is nowhere large enough to stash food to last a few days unless you enjoy hauling it up that hill. If you want to rent a car, do it yourself and not through Mats who then pads the bottom line for "all his work". The rental car place will not deliver a car up there anyway because the road is very very very bad!!!!!! You will get sucked into a bait and switch deal if you use the rental company Mats suggests. Trust me on this one- I ended up walking all 3 weeks I was there.

We spent two nights here before heading over to Savaii. The hosts were great, meeting us at the bungalow, and providing supplies for breakfast. The directions they provided for us to find Seipepa were excellent, and although they had explained that the drive up to the bungalow was rather steep, if you have a four wheel drive it shouldn't be a problem. The bungalow is set up amongst the trees and with the balcony looking out to a great view, it was just a beautiful spot to come home to each night. Only a few minutes outside of Apia, it was also easy to go back to town for a meal. (There was a hot plate, fridge and kettle prodvided, if you really want to cook yourself) The mosquito net over the bed was great for night time, and the fan provided the movement of air which cooled us down. Would recomend Seipepa if you want peace and quiet and a place that has a charm all of its own.
