Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful Resort, great facilities unfortunately service was a great let down. Checked in after 2pm, rooms weren't ready, waited up to an hour. Once we were able to get in, One of the bed sheets had dry blood stain, they got on to it straight away when we told them which was good, Bar staff were probably the rudest. I understand it's probably one if the busiest areas, but as customers if we are happy to wait to be served only to be served rudely once it's our turn then what a waste of my patience & money to receive 1star service. In particular in Samoa, I always make an effort to leave a good tip, but staff here gave me no reason to do so. Breakfast buffet was mediocre. The waitress and waiters during dinner & breakfast service were probably the best to give us a great experience & for that I thank them. I hope overall their customer care in every department improves so it matches the Beauty of this Hotel. Great great shame.

Peaceful, no hustle and bustle of an up market resort. Great price, about 3km fro the town centre of Apia. Made to feel like we were at home. It's a meeting place for locals to have a quiet ale and play some pool, of which we did both. 6 wonderful nights with not a care in the world.

Staff all very lovely Fish and chips was lovely, However beware that the place turns into a pub at night time so loud music until early morning and people and cars parked around the fale and bungalows. Be careful of the owner charging you to do washing or for the accommodation. Do yourself a favour pay upfront Stay close to the beach! Much more relaxing

We told the lady we had to leave early morning and asked about early check out the afternoon before we left. She just told us to leave the door unlocked and the key inside. When we tried to leave at 6am the following morning we couldn't..... They had locked us in! There was also no after hours phone number to call. We had to sit there until someone came to open the gate. We felt like prisoners. Luckily for us as fate would have it the tour we had chosen wasn't available on that day. Otherwise we would have been out of pocket $260 WST. They also upgraded us and didn't say anything until we tried to pay the bill. Where they informed us it would an be extra 60 tala. Wouldn't stay at again

Just what we needed. Not a fan of big resorts. Perfectly quiet, cute and comfortable bungalows, and fales. Family run, personal and just out perfect for what Lynn and I like, and needed. Sara was a great host and chef, and very helpful with ideas of things to do. Definitely felt like a little home away from home with the ability to RELAX. Mahalo Sara and staff...and family!

The hosts Sara and Masi are amazing. Sara helped us with everything, called other accomodations, taxis and car rentals for us and told us what to see on both islands. We felt very, very welcome. Because we stayed for almost two weeks we got an upgrade from a fale to a unit with own bathroom, plus, we could even leave all our stuff in our unit when we went to sleep in another place for one night. The place is the only budget accomodation in Apia close to the ocean, which made us spent some entire days in the hideaway. In a hot place like Samoa it's great to be close to the water and not having to drive there. The breakfast usually consits of cereal, tea, coffee, eggs, toast and fresh fruit, sometimes sandwiches or beans. If you don't seem to like some of this or you're vegetarian, your hosts will notice and respect that. They have 4 very friendly dogs guarding the property. The hideaway is very quiet except for the roosters, that are actually everywhere in samoa, but you get used to them very quickly. In total, this place is the best in Apia unless you want to spend a fortune in a resort. Thanks to the hosts, you learn a lot about samoan culture, which makes the stay unique. Liked this place so much, I'm going again in Oktober.

I first stayed at Taumesina Hideaway with a group of friends in 2013, and it was great to be able to return there in June 2016 with my husband and catch up with Sara and her lovely family. Sara arranged for a driver to pick us up at the airport and had breakfast waiting for us when we arrived. The room we stayed in was clean, comfortable and a perfect base for our first few days in Samoa. The accommodation is simple, but included a fan, air con, hot water,TV, kettle, fridge and tea/coffee making facilities. The views over the lagoon at sunrise/set are incredible, and it was fantastic to be able to have a refreshing swim (the snorkelling isn't great here, but the deck is a great place to sit and relax). We walked into Apia (about 20 min) on our first day, and got a taxi back (about 7 Tala), Taumesina is also walking distance from Palolo Deep Marine Reserve (where there is excellent snorkelling). Sara and her family made us feel very welcome, and even invited us to attend one of their get-togethers while we were there. We would definitely stay here again. We booked via their Facebook page.

The fales are basic, but do include a tv, fridge, kettle and small counter top oven (although we didn't use this). Just a fan to cool down, but enough of a breeze with that to keep it cool enough to sleep. Peaceful location. We had one of the fales with a bathroom which are on one side of the basic road and you cross over to next to the water for the breakfast on the deck. Nice location for breakfast with a view over the water. It is a little expensive for you what you get, but so too seems other accommodation in Apia. It took us about 30 minutes to walk back from town. There's a supermarket about 10 minute walk away. While we were there there was a taxi driver living on site to arranged our transfer from the airport and can arrange trips in town and around Upolu. Just didn't like the cold shower!

We stayed 10 days in a cabin. It was so nice and peaceful. We had the most beautiful view right on the water for breakfast every morning. Sara and her husband are so sweet and accommodating. I hope to make it back to Samoa soon and stay again!! We had some of the best times of our life there!

The fale are definitively basic and yet, too expensive for what you get. The breakfast is average, nice fruits and that's about it: sausage, tomato spaghetti or baked beans are really not appetizing. I was expecting daily cleaning service as offered, we only get one cleaning service during our stay. We stayed only 3 nights instead of the 5 we planned. The internet access is good, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. The construction happening on the other side of the lagoon ruined any view and the lagoon wasn't appealing for a swim.
