Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lolita, daughter of now-retired singer Dave Parker, drove us to the ecolodge from her office in Apia, located just across the street from Fugalei Market. While we were taking a flight at 5:15am, she booked a taxi for us at 2:15am. She kept watch to make sure he came well. When that didn't happen - he hadn't woken up - she called him and set up a meeting a few miles away to save us time where she took us by car. We appreciated this availability so much as we would otherwise have missed not only our plane but our connections afterwards.
The ecolodge and its environment are wonderful. We not only enjoyed the fantastic view from the terrace of our room and that of the restaurant, but also the swimming pool and our walk in the primary forest below and towards the two waterfalls nearby. We bathed with pleasure in one of the two natural pools. The entire garden is very well maintained with many flowers. The meals were very good. The whole thing is incredibly inexpensive. Not to be missed during a stay in Samoa!

Remotely located lodge high up in the hills of Apia. Basic room with fridge, fans (not air con), passable shower and sink and limited storage. Breakfast is local fruits, coffee ea bread jam,
Staff very friendly and helpful. Pickup from Airport is possible, though expensive as is the norm in Apia. No local bus servce nearby, though shuttle from lodge will drop off in town at 09:00 and then reurn at 14:00. About 5 miles from t own so not walkable. View is good from rooms. Very steep drive leading up to the lodge, with some careful driving needed!
Restaurant on site does meals and there is a bar. Local SIM can be purchased from here. Cash is preferred but credit cards can be accepted.
Pool is hidden around a corner and is really just a plunge pool as it is very small

This was our second visit to the lodge and we had such a relaxing break. We noticed even more bird life this time and the view from the restaurant area is the best in Upolu.
All staff very helpful and much of the food is grown locally. Great small pool on site and even better swimming hole in the river nearby (within the wider grounds). Looking forward to our third visit in the future.

The day before we arrived, we were told by email we would not be staying at Dave Parker Eco Lodge due to flood damage (floods were the week earlier on Savaii ie the other Island). Another hotel was arranged for us in Apia which we needed to make our own arrangements to get to. We had asked for a shuttle to pick us up. Two days before arrival we queried the amount, which was $55USD ($150 tala). The taxi we got to the other hotel was $80 tala. The other hotel had no pool and there was a lot of road noise as it was on the main road into Apia. Traffic noise 5am - 10:30pm. Our reason for choosing Dave Parker's was for the quiet and the views. Instead, we got loud traffic noise and views of a busy road. Dave Parker charged our credit card the same amount although we got substantially inferior accommodation. We drove past Dave Parker's, there was no obvious work being done to the road. We wondered if our late bump from the guest list was for querying the inflated shuttle fare and because it is a family run hotel. It was busy in Apia when we arrived, and family run will give preference to family and friends. For a quiet budget friendly hotel without the road noise yet in a very convenient location I would recommend Hotel Millenia where we stayed later in our trip.

The staff absolutely rude and creepy.
Followed me to my room and just lingered there because she thought more uninvited guests were arriving. I think she was the owners daughter. Wouldn’t allow my son to stay with us but she had all her grandchildren there. The shower was HORRIBLE. Bugs everywhere so we stayed only 1 night and left the next day even tho we paid 7 nights. Definitely would NOT recommend

I am here with my family (10)
Arrived after an early morning flight. Lolita was extremely welcoming and arranged breakfast for us all then we wrote off the morning with a catchup sleep. The view from the balconies is astounding and the tranquillity and peace is what we needed just after the craziness of packing and leaving home and all its responsibilities.
We tripped around the area nearby as my father was from Aleisa. I now understand him and his ways so much better.
Dave Parker Eco Lodge isn't fancy, it's had its hey day ... but it is quaint and tidy and for me ... perfectly Samoan! I loved my stay here. The service ... was so accommodating, helpful, kind and respectfully cute!
We were cooked for and served by all young men. Very traditional and very lovely experience. Loved the cultural food on the menu!!
This place has been great and any first time visitors to Samoa need this plantation feel experience! We are off now to a beachside resort which are common here, but you can't beat being up in the hills!

I had to delay my stay they never offered to swap a week instead they cancelled and charged for my room. Probably put it back up on booking.com to be filled by someone else.

They told me they were booked out the week I arrived which was two weeks later but they still had rooms on booking.com for sale.

No partial refund no swapping the week. A misleading and greedy hotel.

My partner and I stayed here for 5 nights and truly, we wish we had longer! The views are absolutely exceptional, and the atmosphere was so lovely, nice to be away from the hustle and bustle of Apia. We were always greeted with a smile and warm welcome by everyone that worked here, and were invited to join in for a traditional Samoan cookup (umu lunch), which will be an everlasting experience I’ll remember.
Thank you so much to everyone at the lodge, for their hospitality, kindness and allowing us to have such a memorable time. We will be back again!!

Also, their pets are wonderful and I became obsessed !!

We really enjoyed our stay at here and wished we could have stayed longer. It has a nice family feel about it. We got a free ride into Apia every morning with the lovely Lotita on her way to work. My favourite time was returning to DPE in the evening and enjoying a cup of coffee and looking down at the bright lights of Apia. Thank you for an amazing stay

I booked this place for three nights with high expectations but horrified by the deception behind it. Me my Wife and baby booked a room in town direct with Dave Parker himself to stay in the main bulding and paid for three nights. We Got cheated again by the Taxi (very commen) getting there and when arrived was told we were now not allowed to stay in the main bulding because my baby may disturb other guest. He should of made that clear when we booked. Instead he sent us down to the pits at the bottom of the hill to the shanty town styled hut filled with mosquitos, mice and black lizards. My son and i got bit so bad that night we both got sick. The food they served was horrible and old. The main reason why i chose this so called Eco lodge was because they bragged about having a fresh water waterful spring. When went for swim we were shocked to see a swamp full of tadpoles and Frogs. What a joke we had been played. We demanded a full refund but only got back the two nights we had not used. Stay far from this dump!!!
