We have just had 4 awesome nights at Janes Fales in Savaii. Janes Fales are right next door to Tanus. There are quite a few different Fales all in a line at Mansie(?) Janes are by far the flashest! Well, flashest means that you actually have a bed and the bedroom is a room with a door... in the porch you actually have a table and two chairs to relax. All the fales round this area are more like the porch and only have a mattress on the floor. At Janes, toilets and cold showers are shared. On their website they mention scuba diving and bike hireage - forget that - no such thing now. Meals - breakfast and tea are included. - meals adequate, werent traditionally samoan which we were disappointed about (we eat rice at home!). No lunch. We found out the day we were leaving that they would have provided us with lunch (at an extra charge) if we had asked. Don't expect to be told anything - their english is limited and you arent even offered a coffee after tea - you will need to ask (min. extra chg). Snorkling here was not a patch on snorkling at the Marine Reserve in Apia. Signs here about dangerous currents but ask the owner of Janes and she will give you reassurance about times etc that are awesome to swim. The beach here is beautiful and we had an awesome time, a pity that the place isnt run better as it would be so much more enjoyable. The family that run it were very nice, but their english was very limited which was frustrating at times. There is a village store very close which sells basics, but I would take fruit and extras from Apia next time. We hired bikes across the road from a Swiss chappie. The swimming with Turtles was worth going to- was quite picturesque and enjoyed that. There is no entertainment here, but a beautiful relaxing place to appreciate their lifestyle and each other. To get to Janes from the ferry - you can catch easily catch a bus 3 tale or taxi 50 tale.

beach front fale with two meals a day for only 70 tala each. couldn't ask for much more than that. showers and toilet are communal and fales are basic but considering the price and the being right on the beach i think it's worth it. staff are kind and there was a shop up the front and a gas station close by if you needed anything. snorkelling was great but there is always quite a strong current until you get to the coral part so just be attentive if you have small children. fale has basic double bed mattress with mossie net. the bar was decent priced and had nice cocktails. i would recommend this place if you really want to get away from people, the tourist track and out of the dirty apia and upolu.

We had booked to stay at Tanu Beach Fales but they had bumped our booking and instead of a beach fale, they tried to put us in the concrete block of rooms across the road! Needless to say, we weren't impressed but it ended up being a blessing in disguise as we went next door to Jane's and stayed in one of their enclosed beachfront fales.
We could not have wished for a nicer place to stay as Jane's was perfect for total relaxation. Unlike the other beach fale resorts on Manase, Jane's fales have more space between them, plus being situated a little little further back from the sand gives you more privacy from all the gawking people walking past on the beach. We also liked it that the fales were built on grass so there was no problem with sand getting into the fales, and the grass was also a nice alternative to the beach for sunbathing. The fales themselves were comfortable, and the only thing I would maybe recommend is to BYO mozzie net (ours had holes and I got bitten). Jane's also has more 'western' accommodation which have bathrooms but these are located at the rear of the resort so you are closer to the road than the beach.
The meals (breakfast & dinner) are served to you so there is no choice. The food was fairly basic and included a lot of starchy items (and not many vegetables), but it was always edible and is adequate for what you are paying. A few people moaned a lot about the food but they needed to keep in mind how little they are paying! In any case, we heard worse horror stories about the food at other resorts. Dinner was usually rice and chicken or a meaty tuna-like fish. There are long communal dining tables so it is a good way to get to know your fellow guests.
The communal bathrooms are pretty basic but are clean and serviceable. The showers are just a cold water pipe (no showerhead) and a hook or rail would be helpful, but you just learn to take the bare minimum with you.
The beach at Manase is very shallow and safe so very good for children. We were disappointed with the snorkelling at Manase - a lot of dead coral and few fish. There is better snorkelling if you go out on a boat with the dive shop.
Jane's bar also does a good happy hour although the pina coladas at Raci's bar are much better! The garage across the road also sells beer at a cheaper price but we also often found them to be not very cold.
And last but not least, the staff at Jane's were also very lovely - unfailingly helpful, courteous and friendly at all times. The staff do a great fiafia night - lots of laughs and energy.

Favourite place i stayed in Samoa - the owner and her family are so lovely and welcoming, the fales are clean and nice and right on the most beautiful beach. Meals prepared for you for breakfast and dinner are tasty and filling, cant recommend enough. Lord of turtles swim in the reef on the beach there!

The location was great just be sure to bring your own towels that’s not provided if they are we weren’t given any. The fakes were nice just dirty not a great place to stay if u have allergies because it will definitely cause u some problems.

Aside from the beach/amazing view, I would give this place 0/10.
The whole place needs a major upgrade. Everything needs to be scrubbed and cleaned. I cannot believe how low the hygiene of this place was. Dirty towels on the bathroom floor to use as bath mats. Pillows smelt.
The bathroom was disgusting and the “beds” were pallets with a thin, worn out mattress on top. You would be better sleeping on the grass outside. I wouldn’t recommend.

With absolutely stunning views I highly recommend the beach fales. Some people may say that it can do with a renovation but I absolutely love the rustic feel of Janes Beach fales. I took my family and we absolutely loved it and highly recommend it to families

It is really a pitty, the location would be so great and so much more could be done with this place if it would be kept in order and tidy.
Stayed in Fale No 15. The table, the floor and the chairs were very dirty. The bed and pillows smelly. Shower and toilet also very dirty and not cleaned daily. In fact during our stay it was not cleaned once.

I have stayed at Janes beach Fales 3 times and will be there again for 2months early next year. This resort is really great - right on the most fabulous beach - clean accommodation - meals a bit dodgy but never went hungry. Staff most helpful and pleasant . Can't wait to get back there again - just chill out , swim in the most wonderful warm water, go for walks and generally have the best time for the period of time I will be there.
