We spent a week here at the beginning of March. Lauiula Beach Fales are on a beautiful stretch of beach in Lano, run by the kindest family. They offer open beach fales, and also two that are more enclosed. All come with breakfast and dinner included. We chose an open fale with an enclosed bedroom that was lockable. It was just big enough for the bed and our suitcases but we spent almost all our time in either the open fale part or on the gorgeous beach. It’s just a few short steps to the bathroom and shower, and a big tree gives ample shade next to the fale so there is always reprieve from the sun. The bedroom has a power point and an electric fan, so along with the natural breeze in this area we felt comfortable almost all the time. Swimming is fantastic anytime, high tide or low tide. We were lucky enough to join the family in their plantation across the street for the traditional umu, where we made palasami (and ate it afterwards:) and listened to Richard tell great stories of Samoan folklore. The food here is excellent, they are very accepting of different diets. We were vegetarian and they served a great selection of different meals and everything was delicious. Richard, Mafa and their family are so welcoming and treat you like family. They made this vacation really special and we’ll be back for sure.

We have been to Samoa a number of times and Lauiula Beach Fales is the best place we have ever stayed! We felt really cared for by the lovely team, the food was great, lovely sandy beach, all day swimming, beautiful fresh-water swimming hole a few minutes down the road in lovely rock pool and bush setting. They also put on an amazing fiafia with world class fire dancers

This is a great choice for a fale stay in Savaii on my first trip to Samoa. There is a small sandy beach at high and low tides, lovely safe swimming and snorkelling (with a turtle not far from shore) and most importantly the hosts are a lovely Samoan family. The sound of the ocean lapping and the waves crashing on to the distant reef were incredibly relaxing. The fales have a power point, and a light (I hadn't expected this!) The tarps that weather and windproof are easy to learn to put up and down. Clean shared toilets and showers. Breakfast was delicious and generous, as were the evening meals. Wine and beer etc can be purchased and the dining room overlooking the water was a nice hang out at night. Nothing too much trouble for Richard, Maria and family. A rental car can be arranged, and 10 minute walk up the road is Maria's store and espresso machine. In the other direction about ten minutes walk away is a $resort, a good place for a splash out lunch. I used a water filter on this trip to avoid using plastic bottles, which was great.

Lauiula Beach Fales was everything we wanted from a a traditional Samoan accomodation service. Myself and a friend stayed in enclosed fales with very comfortable bedding, clean showers and toilets, and home cooked meals every morning and night. The beach is absolutely stunning, with cooler, more refreshing water fed by springs. The best part about this stay was the people - the Lauiula family are incredibly kind and go out of their way to help you - they helped us find a rental car from a friend of theirs, made recommendations and were genuinely interested in their guests and their satisfaction. We also absolutely loved the umu demonstration and telling of Samoan legends. An invaluable experience - thank you Lauiula!! ❤️

Ok, so you can look at the pictures, see where it is, but it doesn’t prepare you for the wonder that is Lauiula. A beach you won’t believe (and that’s from an Aussie - we have some cracking beaches), food that is authentic Samoan and plenty of it… a peaceful, simple life for as many days as you can. We stayed 5 nights and I think if we stayed longer we would not have gone home. Family style attention to detail, a real view into Samoan family life… To be clear - the huts are basic, no air con, but your hut is on the beach, breakfast and dinner are a 30-second walk away. We will be going back for sure… beautiful.

- 👨‍👩‍👧 BEST hosts you could ever ask for, Richard and Mafa along with their daughter and great staff: great conversations, they actually care for you and will ensure you get the best experience / Samoan experience possible - 🥘 every meal is a daily highlight, it sounds cheesy but you can feel Mafa cooks with love. Attend umu (traditional way of cooking) with Richard absolutely! - 🏄‍♂️ Unknown, empty surf break close by! Ask Richard. Surf with the turtles (go at high tide) - 🤿 paradise-like water with beautiful corals right in front of your fale - 🛖 enclosed or open fales, 5 metres from the ocean which is very calm and swimming-friendly, due to the reef making the waves break further away - 🐈 for cat lovers, the place owns 4 very friendly cats (one that we loved especially, we called it José, it was following us everywhere) Leaving Lauiula Beach Fales and these great people was the hardest part of our trip! Keep in mind that COVID-19 killed tourism for 3 years in Samoa. The country reopened at the very end of 2022. Many resorts/fales have closed or are in a bad state. Richard and Mafa maintained Lauiula very well so it’s still a great experience, despite the tough past 3 years. Congrats!!

From the moment i arrived, Richard Mafra and daughter made me feel so very part of their family. so generous with food, sights to see and also just their time, despite being super busy on the day i turned up! accommodation spotless, clean, and meals amazing!!! the beach and water so very clear and lovely to bob around and just relax. Stay a minimum of 2 nights and enjoy it all! Nothing better than waking up and drifting off to sleep with the lapping of water a few metres from your fale!!

This place is absolutely stunning! Another beautiful Savaii village and beach, its a MUST do if you go to Samoa! The owners are amazing people who gave us the warmest welcomes, good chats and laughs, and also an amazing cultural experience. The food is also great, much better than most of the fancy resorts we stayed at, fresh, local cruisine. Water is beautiful with corals and fishes 50m from shore, good snorkelling, and just relaxing! you dont want to go anywhere during your stay.

We stayed at these Lauiula Beach Fales for our first 4 days on the island & absolutely loved them. Richard, Mafra and family were so friendly, helpful and accommodating. Nothing was ever too much trouble. The weather for our time there unfortunately was not on our side, however it did not take away how beautiful this beach was. The fales were clean and comfortable, food was plentiful and it felt amazing to step out of your room onto the beach. Would highly recommend :)

Not exaggerating when I say this was our absolutely favorite part of visiting Samoa. If we had known what we know now, we would have taken the ferry straight from the airport and stayed here the whole time! If you want a remote, relaxing trip in a stunning location- then this is the place to go. The fales are directly on the beach and steps from the crystal clear blue waters of Savaii. They offer free snorkels for use (lots of coral around). They also cook an absolutely delicious breakfast and dinner. Anything from traditional Samoan palusami to chicken and salad. Richard, Mafa and their family were great hosts as well. They showed us samoan dance, umu (how to cook traditional smaoan food) and were helpful with anything we needed. Even though there were other couples and families there, aside from mealtimes it felt like we had it all to ourselves, in the best way. They fale was dry and comfortable, even in the rain, and there were mosquito nets on the beds so you won't get bitten as much.
