In the 60s it was the obligatory stop for Patagonians after coming north along Route 3, which was dirt road.
Now they have remodeled it very well, preserving vintage touches.
Good elevators, spacious room with warm mattresses and super comfortable pillows, excellent shower in a spacious bathroom with an en-suite junior bathroom. Own large garage on the property. Breakfast with excellent coffee, cakes and crescents... little cold cuts and various fruits. Natural juice. Price accordingly. Excellent location x central with rest nearby and quick exit x av Colon towards route 3

Forget about haunted houses from theme parks, this one is for real. Let your imagination take you to a classic horror movie old hotel and spend a night with the ghosts from the past (see the attached pictures). I promise you will have thrilling moments after listening to the mysterious histories that happened inside those walls since the 20th century 30s. The hotel has reasonable prices, small rooms with noisy air conditioners, CRT televisions and a modest restaurant but I give the maximum rating for the experience value. I really had fun during my stay. PS: The WIFI connection is excellent.

Traveling from Buenos AIres to Ushuaia the first stop was in Bahia Blanca. This hotel is easy to find, Excellent location and if you traveling in a car o motorcycle, it has an excellent parking lot. Some people say the hotel is old but for my purpose the location and the price is a terrific value.

The truth is that I was quite disappointed with the room at this hotel; a large old, period building, with rooms that remain almost period.....Ours, 416, with 3 beds separated into 2 rooms, spring beds, "deflated" pillows, but the worst thing is that it has a old air conditioning, the square ones that are built into the wall, through which an incredible gust of wind came in.
If we take a fine line, dirty curtains, which do not prevent rest but create an unwelcoming environment.
The bathroom... although it is updated, the shower had a good flow of water but it did not come out like rain, it came out like a stream from a hose but from putting out fires...; the redeemable: the towels.
I read reviews to which they responded that they are under construction....now, the shower rosette that in any hardware store costs 2 pesos and 50, just made of plastic, is already abandoned......I don't even ask for them to change the hallway carpets that are a relic of the 80s, but the shower rose.....
I finish with the breakfast that has negative reviews; For me it is what saves it, it was neat and varied, I would improve the coffee (like all hotels in general, which make an umbrella water and I think that making it better should not change their budget).
Bad price/quality ratio.

Old hotel. When we booked we were secured garage and when we arrived it was complete and we were sent to a parking lot 4 blocks away.
Old rooms with little maintenance.
Breakfast is poor. We asked for matte water and were told they barely had coffee.
I wouldn't recommend it.

I had to stay in this hotel due to availability of rooms in Bahia Blanca. The hotel probably
saw its hay day around 1960 or so it seems anyway. Only one or two of the staff could speak basic English at check in. The first room was of so poor standard I had to change to another room. That one was marginally better, but not much. The heating worked and the hot water, or should I say lukewarm water worked. After 5min of open tap. The toilet worked once I got the hang of how to work the flushing mechanism. The shower head was extremely old and only three beams of water came out with about half pressure. It's been many years since any proper maintenance was made in the room. But on the up side a new hair dryer was mounted.

What really got to me was that the duvet on the bed, a nice warm one at that, had no cover at all. I have no idea who slept under it earlier and it is very unhygienic.

The second item was wi-fi, which at best was like half Isdn speed a la 1994. Horrible. Disaster.

The third item was the service in the restaurant, the lady there was on the verge of being impolite and rude. Very slow service and I was refused to have a beverage to the room at around 22:00 because she said the restaurant was closed.... que???

Good things:

The other staff tried to help as best they could within their extremely bad knowledge of English.

The mattress was just as I like it. Not to soft and not to firm.

If you don't care of hygiene or maintenance or good service this the place for you. Good thing the price is about as low as the class of the hotel. The only reason I give this two stars is the attempts of the staff at the reception to help me within their capabilities.

Booked a junior suite with king size bed, but what I got first was a corner room with twin beds, very ugly and old looking room. Even when I showed my booking confirmation with picture, they told me there is no other empty room. After I told with an English speaking manager in other city over the phone and told him again my confirmed and paid booking, all of a sudden, there was my empty junior suite available. Took me 2 hours to get what I paid for. Front desk staff lied to me and was rude.

I had an awful one night stay at Hotel Austral. I woke up covered in bites, the bathroom in my room flooded and the bread served at breakfast was hard as a rock. I was scheduled to stay two nights but I checked out after the first night and booked a room elsewhere.

I stopped for a night and the only good thing is that the hotel was clean. I had no cold water in my room so I could no flush my toilet neither take a shower. The restaurant was closed at 9 pm when we arrived. Terrible
