Detailed Reviews
The hotel is located on Leisure Isle overlooking the Knysna Heads. A warm welcome was received on arrival and the host (Michelle) could not do enough for us during our stay - from cooking fresh breakfasts to order to recommending things to do and ordering us a taxi as required. The secluded rear garden and pool was a hidden paradise and the free bicycles and kayaks were put to good use. Highly recommend this hotel to everyone.

We had the superior EMU room. Large. Comfortable. Lots of cupboards. No kind bed which for us was a negative. The queen was however very comfortable. Large bathroom with his and Hers sinks in a huge vanity plus a large walk-in shower. Patio deck outside (this merges into the guest house entrance but everyone is very discreet and did not cause us much disturbance. Furnishings are family/home style. Breakfast good. Swimming pool small.

We stayed upstairs in the Captain’s Quarter’s - a spectacular view of the lagoon, lovely large, private deck, very comfortable bed, lounge with gas fireplace, and an “office” where my husband did some work. Loved it. Delicious, generous breakfasts as well. Our best accommodation on the garden route.

+1
We have just spent 3 wonderful days at the Knysna Belle situated on Leisure Island. The property is a large stunning colonial style house right on the water with fantastic views out to the Heads. We upgraded to the Captains Quarters room which was worth every penny. Large airy rooms with fantastic views. A private balcony to sunbathe and huge bathroom.
Gabby greeted us when we arrived and was really friendly and helpful. It’s a short drive to the main town and on the first night we ate at Daniella’s which is 5 doors down and had a lovely steak dinner.
We had the option of using the bikes and kayaks which we took up and was great fun.
Our car was washed by the gardener who did a great job.
Michelle greeted us every morning for breakfast and fed us well. She also shared a number of traveller tips which were helpful.
We went over to Thisen Island one evening and were so glad to be staying on Leisure Island as it’s more of our kind of place, peaceful and pretty.
If you are doing the Garden Route then a stop at Knysna Belle is a must. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We stayed at the Knysna Belle for a few weeks and had a wonderful holiday. The position on Leisure Isle is excellent, so close to the water. Our room was spacious, bed was very comfortable, bath and shower en-suite and was serviced regularly which was a real treat. Michelle and her team are welcoming, accommodating and ensure a healthy hearty breakfast daily. There is a lovely pool if you prefer it to the beach and there are also canoes and bicycles supplied for guests. We highly recommend a stay here when visiting Knysna

The moment you enter Knysna Belle you immediately feel at home. The bar is at your disposal (just mark what you drink) and in the garage there are kayaks and bikes - free to use.
The location is also perfect, at 50 meters from the beach. If you are in a relaxing mood, you can just sit in the outdoor lounge under the porch or next to the pool.
We love this place !

What a wonderful place to spend our anniversary. We stayed in the Captains Quarters and what a magnificent panoramic view it has of the Lagoon and Heads, waking up to it every morning was amazing. Michelle is an excellent host and the full English breakfasts were superb. The bicycles and kayaks available at the house made the island experience ever more special. We will definitely be back!!!

Stayed for 4 nights in this lovely house, really comfortable and well maintained. It really is just like the photographs show, right on the water front, fabulous views and so peaceful. The island is connected by a causeway and it is about a 10 minute drive to the main front of Knysna where there are plenty of good restaurants. There are also 3 restaurants on the island. The free use of bicycles was appreciated, a lovely morning spent cycling around the island! Michelle and Gabby made us very welcome and gave us good advice about the locality. Breakfast was excellent. In summary, stay here and you won't regret it!

We only stayed 1 night at the guesthouse and it was excellent from the moment we arrived right until we left. Michelle was there to greet us by name as soon as we arrived. She has good knowledge of the area and is extremely helpful, she even offered to request an early check-in for us on the next place we were going to stay. The breakfast was excellent!

My wife and I booked an impromptu trip and my oh my was it well worth it. We both work in France in the hospitality industry and the Knysna belle made it really feel like I was on holiday. Check in was seamless and the breakfasts were a fantastic way to send off your guests for the day. Fantastic staff treatment from start to finish. The location on leisure isle makes you feel like you’re in a movie and the house is one of dreams. Both are out of this world!
Thank you Michelle and team, we will definitely be back with family and friends and will most definitely recommend you to clients abroad.
