This was the best guesthouse we've stayed in ever - after 5 or 6 holidays to South Africa over 15 years. Diane & Rob were wonderful hosts & helped us enormously after SA Airways failed to deliver our suitcases for 4 days. I can't imagine that any guest house could be better in terms of accommodation, friendliness, cleanliness, breakfasts.

We love visiting Knysna and have stayed at various accomodations on leisure isle.
This has been the best experience. We were made to feel welcomed even before we arrived, friendly text messages wishing us a safe journey to 1 ON BOLLARD from Diane. Rob met us on arrival and checked us into the gizmo suite. It is a spacious
lovely bright accomodation with contemporary furnishings and importantly an extremely comfy bed. En suite is a Large bathroom, offering a double shower, bath tub, double vanities and loo.
Both the bathroom and bedroom have patio doors which lead onto a very private garden equipped with table chairs and sun umbrella and sun loungers. A garden gate conveniently leads to a private entrance and to your parked vehicle.
No detail has been overlooked to ensure a comfortable stay.
The general guest space is beautifully decorated , they offers a honesty bar .and a breakfast buffet.
The communal space leads onto a pool deck with tables set up for those guest that chose to eat alfresco. The breakfasts are an inspiration and Rob clearly has a passion for creativity, everything is homemade, jams, bread, muffins butter, yogurt, muesli etc etc,
Cooked breakfast are made to orderby Rob who offers the option of standard English or one of his amazing creations.
Diane is a absolute delight, and nothing was too much for them, they are perfect hosts.
My husband celebrated his birthday during our stay and to his amazement a birthday card and gifts were waiting at our breakfast table along with champagne and orage juice. No effort was spared to make us feel at home throughout our stay.
The guest house is well located and offers the use of bicycles and canoes for use on the lagoon.. I on Bollard is a perfect option for a vacation stay with wonderful hosts, on aptly named beautiful leisure isle.

An absolute gem in Knysna within a quiet neighborhood and close to the Heads. The accommodation is stylishly decorated with ample space and care given to the smallest of items. Breakfast is off the top shelf with Dianne conjuring up the tastiest and best looking dishes. The best part of the stay has been the hosting by Dianne and Rob with nothing being too much effort. We were in Knysna for the marathon and we’re given a lift to and from the race by Rob. This included a trip at 5.15 in the morning. On Saturday Rob organized a table at a nearby restaurant to watch the Boks play the Aussies. The lodge is very well priced as well which makes it very economical for even a family to visit. Hands down the best stay I’ve ever had in Knysna. We will definitely be back.

My husband questioned my reasoning for a one night stay on Leisure Isle but we had a wonderful time. Check-in at One on Bollard was a breeze and after a complimentary gin and tonic (with berries) we were on our way.

The room itself met my expectations. It was modern and spacious. What I did not expect was the luxurious bathroom, the nice little outdoor seating area and the large cupboard/room for your baggage. Inside the cupboards we also found an umbrella, beach chairs, beach towels and a cooler box. We brought our own but took note of these extras.

Soon we were on our way on the complimentary bikes to explore Leisure Isle. We had a lovely cycle around the island which I thoroughly enjoyed. The guest house is located in close proximity to Bollard beach, which is the perfect beach for those who don't like big waves.

Next we used the coffee station in our room for an afternoon coffee. After a shower with the ocean scented shower gel I was ready for the evening. The hosts gave us a tip about a live music concert taking place at a nearby venue and we were off.

The next morning the hosts allowed us to use the kayak and we did a trip to Featherbrook nature reserve and back. Quite exciting.

Breakfast was a leisurely affair. First we had some baked yogurt with fruit. Baked yogurt? Delish! Then my husband tried the specialist breakfast called Dutch Babies - puffed pancakes with nectarine. My eggs were done to perfections but I have to admit that the Dutch Babies looked like the better choice at that stage.

After having a look at the Koi fish at the entrance to the guest house it was time to leave.

We had one day at One on Bollard and it was perfect.

My partner and I stayed at One on Bollard whilst on a mini break in Kynsna. We were absolutely blown away on all aspects of our stay here.
The guest house is beautifully decorated in a coastal style that oozes calmness and relaxation. Our host Di and Rob were fantastic. They made us feel so welcome and at home from the moment we arrived and were eager to offer recommendations of places to go and things to see.
The breakfast is to die for (especially Dis baked yogurt with fruit compote) She was kind enough to to give us the recipe. There’s a breakfast “special “ of the day rustled up by Rob( different everyday ) which is sure not to disappoint along with a lovely buffet for you to help yourself.
Our room was stunning and everything we could have wanted was in reach. They really have thought of everything to the finest detail. We didn’t have the nicest weather on our trip which was a shame but to be honest we didn’t mind as we enjoyed spending time there. The worst part about staying here is you won’t want to leave. In our opinion you wouldn’t find anywhere to stay in Kynsa that would top this.We can’t wait to return. See you soon Di and Rob and thankyou so much !!

This guesthouse is just amazing. Perfect situated at Leisure Island - mainly for golfers. Our hosts Diane and Rob are so fabulous - kind and friendly to every guest and they take care of you at every single moment. All of the staff members are extremely friendly and very attentive!! The guest house is extremely clean, the furnishing is cool and you feel so welcome. If possible we will come back again... asap 😉
Thanks Diane and Rob for everything (especially for all your recommendations and your breakfast Rob und dein Deutsch ist sehr gut!).

We had the best stay at One on Bollard! On our travels we have stayed at many five star hotels and while all of those were excellent, they were missing one special ingredient, “Love”. Hosts Diane and Rob infuse this into everything they do, creating the best recipe for a memorable holiday.

Speaking about recipes, you’ll want to leave with many of their breakfast specials that were delicious.

Rooms are clean, tasteful furnishings, comfortable beds and quality cotton linen. We made use of the cruiser bikes to ride around the island and the pool and outside dining area was peaceful, and relaxing.

We stayed in the Gizmo suite that had a great outside area and convenient road access as do a number of the suites. Bollard beach is less than a minutes walk and has amazing lagoon views.

We are sad to be leaving and will be back soon.

One cannot praise this establishment enough. You feel that the hosts Diane and Rob are very well travelled and know what a traveller wants and needs. The rooms ( we had the Gizmo Suite) are spacious with huge bathrooms and a private garden. All the amenities were there and decor and ambiance just super nice.
But the reason we mostly stay in small guest houses and B+Bs are the hosts. And Diane and Rob really excell. Just one example: since Knysna was very busy the day we arrived they already booked a table for dinner for us at a lovely restaurant (34south). Very thoughtful! And we enjoyed talking to Rob and Diane who know a lot about the surroundings and the different venues. It was just a pleasure and in our minds one of the very best Guesthouses we ever visited. When we are back in the area we will definitely stay again. Highly recommended. Thanks again, Diane and Rob

We loved everything at One on Bollard! Diane and Rob are such lovely and thoughtful hosts and will immediately make you feel at home during your stay.
Every room is decorated individually with lots of attention to detail and the homemade breakfast was just so special and delicious! The guest house is situated perfectly on Leisure Island just a few metres from the beautiful beach and only a few minutes from Knysna centre. Diane and Rob also gave us lots of advice on activities and helped us making them happen.

We would love to come back one day!

Good afternoon - Leisure Isle is an small island with only one entrance and exit so as a location, it is safer than most places. If you read the reviews across many booking sites you will see the safety factor referenced many times. Regards Diane
