The Winchester Hotel is an iconic building on the seafront in Cape Town within close proximity to the V&A Waterfront and Cape Town International Airport. Free shuttle service to the Waterfront, free wifi internet access in public areas are standard. This landmark hotel offers classic elegant rooms, many boasting stunning sea views. Facilities include a heated pool, relaxing treatments in the Ginkgo Spa, signature dishes from award winning Restaurant & Bar as well as full service conferencing. THE RENOVATION The Winchester Hotel has recently under gone a refurbishment, the historic details and features of the interior architecture at The Winchester Hotel have been maintained – and in some places even reinstated – while bringing in furnishings, colour palettes and styling that add a modern appeal. A crisp classic black-and-white colour scheme features throughout the hotel’s main areas – seen in beautiful, white-panelled walls and detailed ceilings, offset by striking geometric floor tiles, all accented by quirky décor elements and antiques that portray the building’s rich history and personality. The black-and-white theme also features in the new, beautifully appointed, bathrooms. After a long period of closure, we’re excited to welcome you to the newly reopened Winchester Hotel!

The Winchester Hotel captivates guests with its array of praised amenities, including diverse dining options and comfortable rooms boasting ocean views, all set in a location celebrated for its beauty and convenience. While reviewers consistently commend the hotel for its cleanliness and friendly service, opinions on value and room decor are mixed, with some visitors finding the rooms overpriced. The atmosphere strikes a balance between vibrant charm and occasional disappointments, yet its prime location near the ocean and local attractions frequently earns high marks.

The location of the hotel was great ; one could sit back on the balcony and watch the world go by . The courtyard area was also very nice and sheltered from the wind ; breakfast options were good, friendly and attentive staff . Unusual to have an indoor smoking lounge , however the staff ensured that the air was fresh and smoke free as best possible. The shuttle to the waterfront was excellent and as long as you booked it in advance, you were delivered /picked up on time.

Disliked · The hotel interior looked a little tired , carpets / furniture / bathrooms however I believe there is a grand refurb planned from the end of March over 7 months. Think it will give the Hotel as much need ' lift ' and ' sparkle' as it really is a ' jewel in the crown' within Sea Point Hotels

Have been here before but just for food and drinks. This time we spent a week here as residents and loved the whole stay in this Old Colonial style hotel.

We were picked up at the airport by the hotel minibus for a small fee which was well worth it. We had a nice room on the top floor which was well maintained and clean and tidy. The breakfasts in the courtyard were excellent with a self service buffet or a short wait for a cooked offering. The food at Harvey's Bar was also superb. We spent most evenings in the bar and the staff were great.

We walked into town most days, about a 40 minute journey, and later walked back although you can take the complimentary shuttle bus as long as you order it in advance. We also spent time sitting on the front balcony overlooking the ocean and the paragliders landing on the green right outside, usually with a bottle of wine. One disappointment was that the large parasols on the front balcony were out of action so seating was limited unless you like sitting in the direct sunlight.

However, overall a wonderful stay.

Winchester mansion looks better on the photos from outside as it is a rather older property, however their rooms deliver everything you'd want and maybe more.
Food at the amazingly located bar with a terrace at the hotel is alright, however drinks service is slow and quality is very poor (stick to beers and wines).
Unfortunately I had issues with reception desk trying to overcharge me at the time of check out which I didn't appreciate. It was sorted out within 10 minutes but left a bad aftertaste.
The spa, despite being within stated working hours, was deserted no one was answering the phone or was there at reception on both of the days.

Who designs these places. There is not one comfortable chair in the bar, terrace, courtyard or restaurant. It is all seaside cafe style seating. What a let down. Also, there is nowhere apart these outlets or your room that a resident can sit and relax.
The staff were very good and attentive and the restaurant staff were quite often and quite a lot of pressure the coat well.
The bedding is not what you expect in a hotel that claims to be what it is. All the pillows are polyester filled and the duvet microfibre. This is the quality of a cheap motel. The mattress protector is thin and low budget and is also polyester. This is a thoroughly unpleasant experience and should be changed.
The rooms have been refurbished but still have the old noisy air conditioning used. There are so many near-silent units used in other hotels but alas not here. The temperature will not go below 24 c. so with a warm room and plastic bedding it is not good.
There is a sparseness throughout the bedroom. One small shower gel which somehow is supposed to wash two people for a day. A tiny moisturiser. A few tea bags and just two small coffee milks. Why is the place so mean but charges 5 star prices?
Breakfast is a farce as if is raining the Courtyard cannot be used. This would not be a problem if they didn’t let outsiders in. Residents have to queue and wait for tables to become free whilst looking at banks of reserved tables empty for hours waiting for booked walk-ins to arrive.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel, the staff couldn’t have been more friendly or helpful. We enjoyed all our food, especially our meals in the restaurant which were served in a very efficient and friendly manner. The pool area was good with nice refreshing fruit kebabs and water on offer. We found the location good as it was possible to have enjoyable walks in both directions along the promenade. We also enjoyed sitting on the bar veranda having a drink and watching the paragliders landing. I would certainly return to the hotel and recommend it.

Our 4th visit to this wonderful situated hotel in Seapoint after a extensive refurnishment.
After a warm welcome from staff at the modernised reception desk, we were allocateda mountain view room on the second floor. the rooms have had a complete makeover with great matching pastel colours. The new bathrooms were the best we encountered on our 4 hotel stay in the Cape ( inc two 5^ hotels )
Our only concern was that there is not a fine dining restaurant here although meals are served most of the day.
Good choices at breakfast with cooked breakfast order taken by staff.
All staff were well trained and friendly - especially Lily who was a trainee allocated duties at their swimming pool area and brought use drinks and a snack.
We would recommend this hotel as safe with wonderful sea views and views of the hanggliders descending from Signal Hill.

We were a party of 4 adults anticipating a special luncheon at the newly-renovated Winchester Hotel but were most disappointed.
Firstly, there was a large crowd (perhaps 35 people) enjoying a party at the same venue. Noisy and boisterous, there was no thought to other guests and we had to request another table, which was little better. The restaurant should have insisted that this group take over the entire venue because they made it impossible for other diners to enjoy the place.
Secondly, the service was not up to scratch. We ordered sparkling water for the table, but were presented with still water. The waitress should have explained that the ceviche of line fish(sea bass( was raw — and this was not sushi! We were taken aback when it came to the table.
Thirdly, the desserts were less than mediocre. They were set out in a simple unattractive manner on an indoor table - mainly baked goods (including croissants which we do not consider to be a dessert), no hot desserts, no sorbets or ice creams of “puddings.”
Considering the price, the location, and the effort taken with the huge renovation, far more thought should have been given to the quality of the menu and the style of presentation!

Booked a Classic Room at R6000 per night to celebrate our wedding anniversary, such a massive disappointment - the room was dark and depressing with a single window facing a passage. Decor is depressing (mustard & green) is definitely the wrong colour for a room with no natural lighting... We went out for the day and on our return at 15:00 our room still hadn't been cleaned. Gowns in the rooms were both XS and no slippers, no toiletries like cotton buds, cotton wool as you would expect from a boutique hotel. Housekeeping didn't do a proper turndown in the evenings.
The only redeeming quality of this Hotel is that staff in Reception and Restaurant areas are friendly and competent. Food was amazing, we met the Exec Chef and he took the time to show us his kitchen and talk about his menu. Doubt if we will ever go back for a stay as it just wasn't worth the cost in the end..

We stayed in Winchester Mansions as part of our honeymoon in SA last month. All the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and we found the shuttle into town most useful ! We ate in the restaurant twice and had a delicious dinner on both occasions with brilliant service . The bar staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was another of my highlights with delicious fresh fruit sitting outside in the courtyard! The pool area was always clean and tidy with with fruit kebabs and water on tap. Our room was clean and very comfortable. The hotel is located about a 20 minute walk from the main waterfront but is a perfect location for sightseeing in Cape Town with the hop on hop off bus stop right outside the door ! I’m ready to go back already and I’ve only been home a week ! Thank you WM and all your staff for making the first half of our honeymoon so special!

We stayed at Winchester at the beginning of March. This was our second time in Cape Town and second time staying at Winchester Mansions. The hotel is very conveniently placed for the Hop on hop off bus with the stop being directly across the road.
The room was great, the food at breakfast was delicious and a good choice. Particularly like sitting in the courtyard for breakfast. Bougainvilleas were beautiful. The staff were friendly and helpful and attentive to our needs. Couldn’t fault it. Hope one day to be back.
Hope you are all safe and healthy. Many thanks for all you did for us.

I havent used this service, but there where a lot of drivers waiting in the terminal. Directly where you leave the "secure airport zone" (last exit door).
